Haddock cooked with a very Mediterranean mix of artichokes, olives, onions, and cherry tomato's in a lemon/butter/ fish stock, Jambalaya done wet in the traditional New Orleans style with house made creol seasoning, a shrimp and veg stir fry with Bok Choy served uniquely with fat fettuccine noodles in the house made broth. All spectacularly good, all incredibly under priced! A word about the wine list: there is none! Far better, it's BYOB with food that justifies pulling your better bottles. Perfect. Don't spread this around, but the daily lunch specials mirror the by reservation only dinner menu...for half the price. In sum, Theater Cafe far exceedes expectations and delivers a remarkable value. Depending on the management, they may or may not honor your request. To ensure my order was correct, I called in directly, which worked well. based on the conversation, this has been a frequent customer complaint and you have to call in every time to make sure that you get the right thing. Thankfully, when it arrived, it did come exactly how I wanted. Not a huge thing but definitely something to be noted. She is in the UMass Memorial Worcester Emergency Room as I write. She vomited over a dozen times and has sharp abdominal pains. Too weak to move. After checking out the reviews, there are enough people who have written about their undercooked food that I would guess that is exactly what happened to her. This is a normal, healthy, 21-year old with no health issues. Pancakes and eggs shouldn't be risky. Beware. While "the local greasy spoon" may seem homey, the moniker generally translates to an unclean kitchen with questionable food prep. practices. Consider your health before going here.

Not much atmosphere; it's more about the food. Three visits under my belt. -- Fried Pickles: Fried perfection, executed for my liking better than most southern or barbecue restaurants. Crisp, light batter, plenty of tartness peeking through, moist pickle slices inside, and salt to bring it all home. A little heavy on the salt, but I'm a salt guy. -- Double Bacon Cheeseburger: Patties a little on the dry side, but that can happen with smash burgers.
