The fireplace totally makes the overall experience and makes you feel like you're in an elevated pub. There's lots of taxidermy on the walls and classic looking paintings, you feel like you're not in stl anymore. Our visit was for drinks only, and my dirty martini was great. We sat on the leather couches and chatted with another couple and it was a great spot for a double date night. Check it out!

We arrived around 3:45 and the place was busy! There was one open seating area so we grabbed it quickly. We spent a few minutes looking at the menu and then the guys went up to the bar to get our drinks. There didn't seem to be table service. I don't know if they ever have it or not. We enjoyed hanging out there for a few drinks. It has a dark, moody, comfy feel. I tried to take pictures but it was pretty dark and they didn't turn out well. I had the "Yes We Have One" - it's an espresso martini. It wasn't as sweet as I prefer, but it was good and I had more than one so it couldn't have been too bad! The other three enjoyed their drinks as well. I'd definitely go back and have a few cocktails in a cozy little area!

I ordered their pork chop, which came with asparagus and layered potatoes. The pork chop was served with a chutney sauce made from apricot, black, and golden raisins. This pork chop is somewhat unique to St. Louis; it's a huge bone-in chop, nothing in Naples, FL can compare. My chop was cooked perfectly. Now, as to never being here, I am exiting the building. There is a small dining area with an Irish band playing. I turned to my son and said I had been here before, pointed to the table I sat at, and told him I had Irish stew. It was in my drinking days, and I am sure I sang all the tunes with the band.

We were seated and it was even busier. It took some time to order drinks and even longer to order and receive our food. Nothing unreasonable especially given the sheer amount of people there. But guess what we enjoyed our table conversations while the drinks were routinely refreshed and when the food arrived it was perfect. While "just basic bar sandwiches and a burger " everything was prepared as ordered. The appropriate temps. Mostly importantly it was just good tasting. Hats off to the cooks and the service providers! Impressive

Despite that, the other tables seemed to receive constant attention while our waitress disappeared for long stretches of time. We were initially seated in the side room with a large industrial fan blowing so hard that it was moving the menus off the table. We waited for the waitress to return so we could request a different table, but she never came back, so we moved ourselves to another empty table away from the fan. She seemed unhappy about the move and told us we might have to relocate again because they were expecting a busy day. Honestly, the restaurant was empty, and we would have been finished long before any rush started -- which we were. I asked for ketchup with my burger, and it didn't arrive until after I had already finished eating. Overall, the service was very poor. Unfortunately, the food was also extremely salty -- and we're people who normally enjoy salt. I had the Farmhouse Burger with Brussels sprouts and mac and cheese, while my wife ordered the steak and fries cooked medium well. The steak came out medium rare, and both her fries and my burger and Brussels sprouts were overly salted. The one bright spot was the mac and cheese, which we took to go. My daughter tried some and said it was the best she'd ever had. To top it off, our bill came to an even $100 with tip, and all we had were waters and the items mentioned above. We had been wanting to try Retreat for quite a while, so this experience was very disappointing. Between the poor service and underwhelming food, we probably won't be coming back.

There was a small wait for a party of three but the staff was super welcoming and courteous. The ambiance was cool - the outdoor area was super inviting. It was slightly too chilly to sit outside for dinner, though. Once we were seated our server was a little cold - but we never waited for anything and she kept our drinks full so it's hard to criticize too much - she just could've had better "table side manner". The food menu is relatively small - but good. The food my party had was well prepared. Good drink and beer menu and an adequate draft selection - although the first two beers I asked for were no longer in stock so I ended up going with a domestic. All in all a good experience. 4 out of 5. I'd love to go back when it is slightly warmer and sit outside. Casual ambiance. Family friendly.

I had the Irish cheese sandwich, Justin went with the corned beef -- and both were genuinely good. Comforting, hearty, and exactly what you hope for in a pub meal. Now... the kitchen was moving a bit slow this visit. Was it noticeable? Yes. Was it worth the wait? Also yes. Because Sam -- the female bartender -- absolutely made the experience. Fun, engaging, and the kind of personality that makes you feel like you're already a regular even if it's your first visit. That kind of service turns a "slow day" into a good memory. The menu is packed with authentic Irish favorites, and honestly, next time we're absolutely going to lean fully into the classics -- because this feels like a place that does traditional comfort food right. One small wish: I really wish they made their own chips. The bagged chips were a little lackluster and felt like a missed opportunity next to an otherwise hearty, made-with-care menu. Overall: a great spot that was likely just having an off day -- and still absolutely worth your time. Don't leave without ordering the pear cider. It is absolutely fabulous. Bright, crisp, lightly sweet, and dangerously drinkable. We'll be back -- and we're coming hungry.

The bar itself is unpretentious and welcomes everyone. While I was dining at the bar, the rest of the diners were a widely diverse mixture. Witnessing such a vast mixture of people, adds a positive twist to the vibe of the bar. The menu is simple. They focus on what they do best and that's why their smash burger is one of the best. Being a firecracker myself, I ordered the Firecracker Smashburger. It's a single patty, with Pepper Jack Cheese, Tomato-Onion-Jalapeno Relish, Drizzled with a Tangy Fire Ranch and served on a Martin's Potato Roll. The burger was juicy and had those crispy edges that a smash burger is known for. My favorite cheese is Pepper Jack, so that was a big plus for me. The relish added that extra kick that made it a true, Firecracker. I can't enjoy a burger without fries and Jack offers long skinny fries. They had a crispy shell and a soft hot inside. They were simply seasoned with just the right amount of salt. I was impressed that the ketchup was 100% Natural. That gets a big thumbs up. When enjoying a burger and fries, a nice cold beer is always the adult beverage of choice. JN offers a small variety of craft beers on draft and three popular Anheuser-Busch products. I enjoyed a Gumballhead from 3 Floyds Brewing. An American Pale Wheat is a perfect lunchtime beer. The bartenders are personable and offer warm service. I'm definitely coming back the next time I crave a smashburger.
