I get their dirt root beer on tap in a frosty mug and YUM! I forgot how much I loved their root beer. So many options on the food menu! I have had one if the wraps and roast beef sandwich. Both times I took leftovers home for a second meal. They really pack on the meat. Don't forget to order a root beer float, but it is also giant size so bring some friends to share! We are watching our 2 granddaughters while their parents are spending New Years with friends and decided to take them to Fritz's on New Year's Day for a late lunch. Couldn't have been a better experience! Sadly the soda filling line in the restaurant wasn't working today, but that didn't keep us from having a great meal & experience. Oldest granddaughter had their kids portion of toasted ravioli with fries, she loved the dish and didn't finish it as it was a large (tho kid's size) portion. Our other granddaughter had their kids cheeseburger with a side salad and devoured it. Both girls had bottomless Fritz's sodas to drink & loved them. My wife had the Mediterranean Salad, which was huge and took most of it home, she said it was delicious! I ordered their Fish & Chips, 2 large lightly battered & fried pieces of haddock on a large bed of fries. The fish was very warm & tasty, I thought it was delicious! I also had a cup of their seafood gumbo to start. It was as good as any gumbo I've made myself, very warm and chock full of shrimp, delicious! We ended our meal with a root beer float, 3 enormous scoops of vanilla ice cream in a mug of Fritz's root beer. The kids devoured the ice cream while my wife enjoyed the root beer and whatever ice cream the kids didn't eat. Our server was terrific, very accommodating and friendly with the kids, he really made our experience enjoyable. Super quick service, like to the point where we ordered and had two burgers ready in less than 4 mins. The burgers were okay, nothing special and our fries were not warm anymore. Not sure if they just have it all out and heat it up? Anyways the drink was eh. Got a dirty diet soda with butterscotch - super sweet so only had a few sips. Ive been to the Delmar Loop location. However, this is my first visit at this location. Got me a frosty mug of cream soda at arrival. So good and bottomless! My husband ordered the meatloaf entree and I got the grilled chicken sandwich. The menu is quite extensive and lots of options for vegetarians and vegans. What a cute place! We sat at a table where we could watch them bottle the root beer and that was fun. If you order a root beer soda, which I recommend, they serve it in a frosty mug and it's delicious!! The food portions are quite generous. I absolutely love this place. It's got a huge menu, and everything they serve is excellent. I keep coming back to the King Louie (made with a turkey burger). Fries are good. The floats are something you have to experience for yourself. They're huge and creative and so good. And their salads are surprisingly good. And huge. It's a bit of a pricy place to eat, but the food is so good and always results in a taking home a full second meal for Lots of seating. Friendly service. Just make sure they bring your silverware before your food (a weird glitch in their approach means sometimes that doesn't happen and you're sitting and waiting with your food in front of you). We went here to celebrate a birthday last week after not going for quite some time. Overall, it was just okay. The food is meh. Large portions, but nothing special. Obviously all of the float/soda options are neat. Plenty of parking. I think originally the space was cool, but has definitely gone down hill and is soo grimy and honestly icky. Our table was wobbly and had wads of napkins stuffed underneath that looked like they had been there for a while.. The parking is nice as they have a large lot shared with 2 other businesses. The wait typically isn't long. The staff is nice and attentive. The food is ok. The pizza is too doughy, the chili is bland. The fries taste off. Maybe it was an off day but still no excuse. We didn't complain but said never again. The quality seems to have gone a bit downhill. I don't think we'll come back for the food but the floats are a must. They have so many soda flavors you can mix with chocolate or vanilla ice cream. Oh, and the size is huge. To get to the hostess stand, you have to pass the merch - all their sodas and some T-shirts. The place is pretty big. It also is dingy and needs updating. We ordered our food and it came fairly quickly. A few of us got root beer shakes (vanilla ice cream and root beer blended). They were dripping and messy and sticky and so was our table within seconds. Not sure how many napkins we used trying to stay ahead of that mess. We all ordered burgers and they were good. An iconic STL stop! Anytime I bring a new visitor home, this is a mandatory stop! The food is good (nothing crazy), but the root beer floats are the stars of the show. Pro tip- order a float "to split". They are massive, and even large when they are split. Then you get two more realistic sized floats for one price! This location gets the job done. I took a friend's daughter to see the Marvels and we decided to try to find some lunch afterward. I hit Yelp for ideas and we ran through the first few. When we hit Fitz's. I'd never even known it was here, she said she hadn't been in ages but remembered she'd like the burgers. Sounded good to me. We were sat almost immediately. Our server MacKenzie was great. Gave us everything we needed and answered our questions no problem. I got the buffalo chicken wrap with fries. I would've liked more greens in the wrap, but it was tasty, with a bit of heat. The fries were nice and crispy, which is a change from most restaurants. I think they might be battered or something? With food and drinks, we were both at a little over $15 apiece (plus tip). Pretty good these days. I'll have to try to bring my kids up here, they'd love the huge selection of sodas and tasty food. My only disappointment is the lack of sugar free soda op. Better than I expected! We were a large party and we were seated promptly upon arriving. They don't take reservations but a Wednesday evening was not a problem to accommodate 14 of us. We picked this place because they have a large gluten free menu (kudos to them for having options to fit all of my family). Speaking of the menu- huge, so many choices. And who knew that there could be so many options for ice cream floats. All of them sounded scrumptious. Everyone seemed to be happy with their meal. I got an entree salad: grilled chicken salad but with their balsamic dressing instead of Italian. Salad was fresh and chicken tasted good. Our waiter was happy to adjust orders for anyone (swapping dressings etc). He was not the most efficient waiter but still he was nice and got the job done. The salad was lettuce, Blackened chicken breast, tomato, tomatoes, black beans, red onion, avocado, queso Fresco crumbles .and tortilla strips with a south ranch dressing. For dessert we ordered the Trouble root beer float. 100% would recommend this. We ordered ours with diet draft root beer. We went here last minute for my nieces 16th birthday. The place we had planned fell through since we had a large party. They were able to accommodate us quickly and comfortably which was a huge plus. Service was very good. My niece and her boyfriend enjoyed their cardinal cream float which was epic! I got the buffalo chicken salad and unfortunately it was so spicy, I couldn't eat it. Came here for a business lunch with a coworker from out of town. It's a great spot to show some real STL local vibes and the frosted mugs for the root beer and cream soda really bring back some good old fashioned nostalgia. I was not expecting much considering I've only known them for their sodas - too bad I didn't get to see any of the bottling process when I was there for a late lunch/early dinner. The restaurant is big, clean, bar area was closed but appears big as well. The soda bottling area is behind a glass window and I bet it'd be cool for young children to watch while eating their meals. Servers were friendly, polite and honest. Burger dine-in - patty and bacon were fresh off the grill. Fries were hot and crispy. I also enjoyed the crispy battered jalapeño and pickle slices, paired well with the burger on the side for me. I love Fitz's on Delmar and visit consistently with family and friends. I expected to have a pleasant meal here, as well, when I visited the evening for my friend's wedding party celebration. My friend has survived a stroke in her 20's so this wedding is insanely important to her and us as her friends who love her. The server we had was fantastic. He was kind and congratulated the couple on their wedding. However, I cannot believe what the redheaded female employee (if more of a physical description is needed so she can be justly fired, please contact me) did as it was entirely inappropriate behavior for a service job or life in general. We had finished our main meals but one person was still finishing her ice cream float as we chatted. This employee woman grabbed a balloon from another table, popped it loudly behind the groom-to-be's ear, then started telling another employee to pick up all of our dishes. They also took the half-finished float from right in front of the woman who was still drinking it. We had not been asked politely to leave or told anything like that, as we had only finished our meals and paid about 5 minutes prior. Regardless the behavior was extremely inappropriate for any establishment, from an employee or otherwise. I expected she did similarly to the other tables as three other parties hurried out right after she visited their tables. We debated causing a scene over her disgusting behavior and settled on remaining on the table to talk for about 20 minutes longer than we otherwise would have, naturally. This woman should be gone as she is clearly unstable and unemployable. I will not be returning to either location after this absolutely atrocious service. To the woman who behaved this way and thought it was somehow justifiable: you should be ashamed of how you treated us. Believe it or not, we are people with feelings. The buffalo chicken wrap was ok, it had melted cheddar cheese inside and not much lettuce or tomatoes, it felt more like a cheesy buffalo roll up than a wrap. The sauce is smokier than traditional. The fish and chips were 2 large pieces of crispy fish and fries, the tartar sauce was really good and fresh. The buffalo cauliflower was also good, the cauliflower fry seemed a little dark but was still a tasty vegetarian option. Wasn't crowded, but the restaurant is a little loud no matter when you go.
