Good smash burger to grab and go. I would put it up against some of the best. It's consistent and convenient. Red hot ripplet fries are my favorite to get.

Amazing little hole-in-the-wall! Inside the gas station, there's a service window where Shelly serves up fresh and delicious burgers. Simple, fresh, and ACTUALLY GOOD. Love the sense of community it brings and we will 1000% be back. Perfect place to pick up and a burger and picnic at the park.

I never thought that I'd be writing a review for Yelp® or any other site praising a burger place inside a convenience store / gas station. But Shelly's 'Smashburgers inside Midwest petroleum in Sunset Hills (at the corner of Gravois and Lindbergh across from Sunset Ford) has quickly become my favorite go-to place in the St Louis area for smashburgers. I've ordered delivery from there once and I have eaten there in person once. Delivery from GrubHub was hot and delicious. Ordering and eating moments after preparation whilel the fries and burger was steaming hot. I ordered a Shelly's double burger with cheese with the standard toppings (American cheese, pickles and mustard) and garlic parmesan french fries each time. When I ordered by delivery, I also ordered a second smashburger thinking that the burgers would be small. Regarding visiting the burger place in person. Except for the fresh grill, it's a standard gas station convenience store. There is a small amount of indoor seating however I chose to eat mine in my van so I didn't get good pictures of the smashburgers in the huge amount of garlic parmesan fries that I ordered as a side. The kitchen closes at 8:00 p.m.

It was OK. I waited almost 20 minutes for food. The weird part was knowing where to stand because when you have to wait that long and the pick up is located in the line to check out it's awkward. Everywhere I moved, somebody needed to be where I was or they started standing in line behind me even when I was nowhere near line, when I was standing in front of the candy. Everyone is saying how great this but I think they just want to tell people that they got a Smashburger in a gas station. It really is no better than steak 'n and actually not as greasy delicious. The sign says made fresh to order but what it doesn't say is they wait till they get a bunch of orders and then make all the orders at once. That's at least what the cashier said to me. But I also heard him telling people that it would be three minutes. So the whole experience just wasn't great and we won't be back. Steak 'n Shake is literally less than 2 miles away. We got a combo and you get a large soda. We got the garlic Parmesan fries and it wasn't very good. I think in addition to getting that garlic powder on there, you need some salt and so I would say they were much more garlic forward than Parmesan. There was not a good balance. So there you go. Make a decision based on what you think is good to eat and a good value for your money and not Instagram bragging rights of eating a good burger in a gas station. So there you go. Make a decision based on what you think is good to eat and a good value for your money and not Instagram bragging rights of eating a good burger in a gas station. Oh, by the way, the candy was on sale two for five, but you had to have the card which he didn't ask me if I had. But without it each one is like $3.75 with tax. That's a lot of money for candy.

I've been eyeing this spot for months and was starving after work. I also needed gas... and this place is located inside of a gas station. I know from experience, that sometimes these type of places are the best! And-- I was right! This place was awesome. I actually ordered a Kid's Burger because I'm not into double cheeseburgers, too much meat. The burger was so juicy; flavorful and CRISPY on the edges. The toppings were fresh and the Shelley's sauce was delicious! I also got an order of fries with Red Hot Riplets seasoning and they were super crispy and flavorful. Take-out only, food is ready in about 5 minutes. Staff were friendly, you order and pickup at the gas station counter. I would totally come back if I was in the area!

Headed to the movies at Ronnie's tonight and stopped into Shelly's Gas Station to grab snacks and food beforehand. This place ROCKS!!! Every kind of snack, lots of hard ciders and canned mixed drinks along with the typical fare. Also lots of homemade goodies and then you can also get Smash Burgers and fries! Guys at the counter were super nice and helpful too! Here's a tip...order the burgers first since they take a bit ...made to order with the crispy edges too. Also, bring a big bag and then you're all set for the movies!

They immediately asked if we had any dietary issues and then promptly after hearing out needs, made a handful of recommendations. We started with the cauliflower. It was excellent the light sauce and pine nuts really made this dish top notch. The vegetarian and GF adults then split the Caesar salad and the squash seasonal salad. Both were so flavorful, filling and entirely unique. If you're a salad eater, I'd highly recommend either one of these. The carnivore in our group ordered the Italian beef with French fries. Unfortunately they were out of the Italian beef so he had to settle on the wings. The wings were a solid lunch after an appetizer, but the sauce was not what was expected. Overall, the menu is simple, maybe 15 items in total and they probably need to have more for carnivores who are looking for something other than a hamburger and not too heavy for lunch. One of the staff behind the bar came and took our order. I stuck with water and we ordered chicken wings to share, I also got the Cucumber Tomato Salad for my meal, it sounded so fresh! Chicken wings came out fairly quick; delivered by the host who seated us. They were really good. The skin was crisp and the buffalo sauce a good flavor. We both enjoyed them. They came with a Green Goddess dressing, I am not a fan of that dressing, but the wings were good on their own. My salad came out and it was as refreshing as it sounded! It was the half salad, and it was a generous portion. Cornichon, Oven-Roasted Tomato, Crispy Shallot, Chopped Egg, and Dill Buttermilk dressing. It was perfectly dressed, and great proportions on the ingredients. My daughter ordered the Patty Melt advertised on Union Loafers bread and that clinched it for her. She indicated it was very good. The food was delivered by someone other than our server. After our food was delivered no one came back to check on us and we waited quite a while before we could get someone's attention to bring boxes and our check. While we were waiting the employees were setting up for dinner service, adding mini aperitif style glasses and then a couple came in for an early dinner and their server was so awesome, he came over and chatted with them offering samples of some kind of alcohol, he was so friendly! The mushroom burger is unlike any other I've ever had. It's ground up mushroom in the shape of a patty with cheese on the inside that is then breaded and deep-fried. It was good and something new, but I preferred the regular veggie burger. The veggie burger comes with crispy onions, which I loved. The service was also great. We are a family that loves pickles and sometimes when we ask for extra pickles, it doesn't seem like we ever get enough. It was not the case here! They were very generous with the extra pickles which we were really happy about. The cheese fries were standard. The Oreo milkshake seemed pretty standard as well, but milkshakes aren't my favorite thing. Personally, I didn't care for how everything is served without a plate and with the burgers in the paper bags. I think the paper bags the burgers come in are a great idea to stop your hands from getting messy, but I had to take the burger out to realign everything so that all the bread wouldn't be at the very bottom and it just became a mess. Note: 1 burger was enough for me. I thought I was still hungry after and got another and that was a mistake!
