I haven't been there in at least 2 years... but still, I could see myself eating there. I wanted to stop by one more time before this place closed down. Their food and ice cream is still very good. But I think the two main things that hurt them were location and staffing. Parking directly in this area can be hit or miss and the other restaurants nearby have gone up in quality as well. I stopped by to grab a weekday lunch for pickup, and it seemed like there was one person handling "bar," greeting, helping the server, and one server. Want to support Bailey's given the walkability in Shaw and great patio space, however, they are severely understaffed and haven't had a number of items on the menu the last few times we visited, including ice creams for shakes (only had 3-4 options out of the many listed). I hate to be this person but Bailey's Range had possibly the worst service restaurant service I have ever received in my life. Walked in around 7:40 pm, they close at 9 pm. Was quickly seated and had water brought over. Only three other tables in the entire restaurant. Alvin and the Chipmunks was playing so loud in the background I couldn't focus on anything else. After sitting there with zero acknowledgment from either of the two servers my friend and I got up and walked out. After we were sat with our waters no one looked at us or acknowledged us for the entire 30 mins we sat there despite making eye contact and trying to indicate to them that we were ready to order. I cannot stress enough how much I DO NOT recommend this restaurant for any sort of dining experience, we went when it was completely empty, I can't imagine how they handle service when it is busy. read more

I am so glad this location of Bailey's Range is open and that they have a decent patio out front! I went with my friend for an early dinner one night and since it was nice weather, we opted to sit outside. They had some decent happy hour prices for drinks and snacks which was nice for us to enjoy while having out. The boozy lemonade was so good! We also each ordered a sandwich and split an order of onion rings and fries. The sandwiches were so good, I basically did a create your own chicken sandwich which had cheese and bbq sauce and it was juicy and delicious. The fries and onion rings were crispy and fresh. The servers were nice and made sure we were taken care of and checked in on us from time to time. We each needed to pack up half our sandwiches and so we asked for some to go boxes and split the sides. The patio is nice and when I went inside to use the restroom, the inside is really spacious! I ordered online and the burger initially showed up as $10 but then changed to $14 plus the fries so wish I double checked the costs before placing my order cause I likely would've gone with just the classic cheeseburger instead. My partner and I were greeted at the door and told to pick any table in a small, bright area that was off to the left side of the entryway. The whole inside and outside is so fun and trendy. The bathrooms were extremely clean and decorative. They were all "All Gender" bathrooms with private stalls and a shared sink area. Very impressed by the cleanliness. I noticed on the mirror that they're advertising upcoming movie nights that seem to happen every month, which seems like it would be super fun! They have such fun and creative burgers and cocktails! Although I only had water to drink, I was super intrigued by their boozy lemonades. I definitely want to try them next time. To eat, I had the PB&J burger, which includes pesto, goat cheese, arugula, and a super sweet tomato jam. It was delicious! My partner and I shared a side of fries, which comes with your choice of 2 sauces. We ended up trying the house catsup and the queso. The house catsup was super unique... it almost had the same consistency as applesauce?? But I absolutely loved it nevertheless!! Our server was friendly. However, when we had finished our meals and it was time to pay, we had to walk around the restaurant in order to find someone who could get us our bill. We found most of the employees hanging out behind the bar area on their phones. This didn't ruin my overall experience, especially because we visited at a slower time. We really love all the Bailey's owned restaurants and I'm not sure how I had never been here. We walked in after a morning at the Botanical Gardens and snagged a spot outside - they have plenty of seating. Their menu is fantastic, tons of great burger options, and I love that a lot of their drinks come in pitchers. We ended up sharing one of their lemonades with the table and it was so good. All the burgers were fantastic, so juicy and full of flavor. I want to come back and try a couple more. The table also shared fries which were perfectly cooked and delicious. I thought this restaurant was REALLY cute inside! The decor was light and airy and I loved all of the fresh flowers instead of fake ones. I could sit in here for a long time lol. For food, we had the chili cheese fries to start and those were some of the best chili cheese fries I've ever had. The fries are not only seasoned well, but they're crunchy! The chili tasted homemade and was just the right consistency. For my burger, I had the bison bleu burger (it's called bleu something) and it was pretty good. I didn't really care for the buns as they were kind of dry and also small. It made it hard to eat the burger without dropping it all over the place. However, I loved loved loved the bleu cheese with the meat - delicious! We also tried the mint shake and the cookies and cream shake and you can definitely tell they make their ice cream in-house. Those were also very good. I'd probably like to stop here again if I ever come back to St. Louis so that I can try some of their alcoholic beverages (they looked really good) and maybe a different burger. This time, though, we waited an hour and a half for our food (never got it and we left at this point.) Our waiter never checked in on us or apologized for the long wait time. On our quest to try more local eats in our area, my bf and I decided to visit Bailey's Range for a weeknight dinner last month. It is located in a converted gas station in the Shaw neighborhood, and as a result has a nice open layout with plenty of murals and natural lighting. We were seated quickly and, even with what seemed like low staffing, our order got taken quickly as well, so kudos to the wait staff and bussers here. We started with the fried pickles, which are thicker and a little sweeter than most restaurants'. Even though the serving size was small, they were more filling than they appear, and I enjoyed the uniqueness of their homemade pickles. For our mains, my partner tried a burger off their weekly Burger Battle (which is a fun bracket competition you can keep up with on their socials), and I had the Maple Bacon Crunch burger. Even though the brown sugar crust on the patty didn't come through as much as I wished it had, the bourbon pineapple chutney and crispy bacon on top made up for it. As a side note and clarification, I did have a party of 13 and they were short staffed, with only two servers and the bartender and some kitchen staff. However. I have never been at a restaurant for 3 hours before, just to get basic drinks (sodas) and burgers. We sat for over 45 minutes after our drink order was taken and delivered, waiting for our server to come take our food order. I know she was also serving on the patio and we were inside, but we were the only table inside, so it was a little ridiculous. She was nowhere to be found during that time, we looked for her. After she reappeared, she took our food order and we asked for soda refills, which never came. One of the party actually went to the bar herself after 20 minutes to ask about them and the drink refills arrived quickly after that. We waited over an hour to get our food after our food order was taken. She didn't bring plates for the onion rings and just never came back, so one of my friends literally went into the service room to get them herself because the server had vanished yet again. At that point, they were closing soon, and our server gave us about 10 minutes to eat before coming over to get payment. I'm assuming she wanted to start cleaning up, but we were still eating! As a side note, they put everyone on the same check if you have a party of 7 or more (which was fine). So yeah, we were there for 3 hours and my food was cold, probably because it was waiting for so long. Not the greatest birthday dinner!
