    Cevapi on Lepinje bread.
    Leslie S.

Normally I just have the sweets here, but today I decided on lunch. Just a simple plate of cevapi, but it was pretty extraordinary. Perfectly cooked cevapi (10 of them!) on a whole Lepinje that had been toasted on the grill before the sausages were added - so the middle was warm, but the edges were crispy and heavenly. If you've never had Lepinje bread, you don't know what you're missing - it is one of the most flavorful, chewy, springy, stretchy, fantastic types of bread I've ever eaten. And this was no exception. The Bosnian coffee was a delight, and it was served beautifully (see the pic!). They give you a sugar cube to put in the bottom of your tiny cup and pour the coffee over. The grounds of the coffee float to the top, so that's what comes out of your little pitcher first, but they eventually sink to the bottom, and it is a nice strong cup of coffee. I also added a piece of their baklava, and it was all the flaky, nutty syrupy goodness you could ever want. The lady running the place was friendly and helpful as always, and also as always, the place was bright and clean, including the bathroom! Today was Monday, and, I guess because they are closed on Tuesday, the bakery case was empty. They did have the baklava in the back, for which I was thankful, but your best bet, if you are looking for sweets, is to go Wednesday through Sunday. But they always have the savory goods, so don't skip this place on any day! Well, except on Tuesday, when they're closed.

    Bosnian coffee

This was a great place for a late lunch! My husband had the Bosnian coffee and goulash, which came with delicious bread. I chose Ćevapi (based on prior reviews) and hot tea. We celebrated Thanksgiving Eve day off with desert even though we did not need it. Everything was excellent!

We were so pleased with my daughter's wedding cakes that we got from Zlatne Kapi. The cakes were beautiful. It was poring down rain, so the owner even helped us put the cakes in the car. We got the walnut and strawberry filled cakes and everyone at the reception was raving about how moist and delicious they were! Highly recommend!!!

Our walnut based cake slices! The presentation was so fun!

This place was magnificent. Located in a quaint area of town, the woman who runs this cake shop is delightful. She was so helpful and friendly and her cake is to die for. We had 2 different types of cake, both walnut based. My cake was dense and filling and I ended up making the piece into a full meal and ordering Bosnian coffee which was a strong and flavorful brew which she mercifully brought us cream and sugar for. I highly recommend checking this place out even if you are only in town for a few days or need a snack!

My Daughter, Wife and I decided to be adventuring today and went to the Bevo Mill area today for some Bosnian cuisine. We never had this type of food but ended up in Zlatne Kapi and we were pleasantly surprised. The woman at the counter was very friendly and helped us order some authentic food. The place was modern decorated and clean. Food was fast, hot and plenty. My wife got goulash and I got a Ćevapi with a salad to share with my wife. My daughter went with a safer, more familiar choice of a chicken salad. As you can see the portions were big. When finished, we went to the counter to pay and we picked up a dessert to go which was a banana chocolate type of cake dessert. It was good. We wanted to try some Bosnian coffee during our visit but we were just too full. My wife and I want to go back and try some other Bosnian dishes along with the coffee. I would recommend this café / bakery.

Best Bosnian desert place in town. If you are craving some sweets, there is no better option. Also one of the few places you can actually find real Bosnian coffee - not Turkish coffee or espresso if you know what I mean. 5/5. Najbolje slastičarna!

Well, I no longer live in STL and I am finally checking it out. Now that I have, I am pissed at myself that I didn't try it sooner. I stopped by for lunch and enjoyed a Nova Gyro that was served with a side of fries. For a minimal up-charge, I had them add Feta Cheese to mine. When the Gyro arrived, it was super huge. It was so big, I could hardly pick it up to take a bite. I ended up eating part of it as a salad with a fork until I could finally pick it up and eat it like a true Gyro. The gyro meat was well seasoned and tender. It was smothered in their house made tzatziki sauce and wrapped in a warm Pita. The toppings were plentiful and they were; sliced red onion, shredded crisp lettuce, cucumbers and vine ripe tomatoes. Adding the Feta Cheese, was a wise move. It added, an extra Greek kick to the Gyro. My glass of Pinot Grigio was a perfect accompaniment to my lunch. With it being super huge, I took a third of it home and made a salad out of it for dinner. The only negative, is their take home vessels are styrofoam and not eco-friendly. The service was attentive and friendly. My server was training a new gentleman and think he's going to do a great job. I'm already thinking about a return visit, because I need to try the baklava. I mostly order to go from here however (especially in the winter) as their inside dining is a little smaller. The food is always consistently good and their Caprese is one of my favorites in STL. The family that owns it is always so nice (especially the mom and son) so I love supporting this small business. If you are a coffee lover they have the best Arabic style coffee and flavors that are worth going for on their own.

I had to text multiple people mid soup to tell them about it. The chicken was flavorful, and huge pieces. The soup itself was so delicious. It felt like a warm hug. I ordered the cottage pie. So delicious and hearty. The braised short rib was so tender. The potatoes were perfectly whipped. I cannot wait for the leftovers. My friend ordered the lasagna. The lamb was incredible. So hearty, and didn't feel heavy like some lasagnas can be. The serving size was huge. We will also be eating this tomorrow! Now the apple crisp. We were full by course two, but we had to dig in. It was fresh out of the oven. The vanilla bean whipped cream was so fresh and balanced out the crisp. The apples were perfectly jammy and the cinnamon was so intense but perfect. This made me feel like I was sitting in my grandma's dining room eating dessert after Sunday dinner. If you see any of these items appear on their menu, run-- and I will see you there!

Decor is great, rustic brick with plenty of plants, pops of red on black with a classy black leather booth sitting area -- very cozy -- and a patio outside. I've seen reviews lambasting the smoke and some stating there's no smoke smell at all. My experience here is somewhere in the middle. If you've ever been out of country to a small local cafe, it adds to the atmosphere, but if a whiff of tobacco ruins the feel, be aware that some patrons do smoke on the patio, and the smell does drift inside. Service was very quick. I swung by because my fiber cut out at home and I wanted a place to game on a Sunday night. Don't know how relevant this is to anyone else, but the wifi here is great -- 180 MBPS and stable. Barista was very friendly and told me to get comfy with my setup. Owner peeked in to say "Oh we have a DJ!" Seems like a charismatic guy, he was out there entertaining the regulars for quite some time. Otherwise didn't bother me, which I appreciated. Over all a great local place. $8 gets you a quality drink and quality company if you're for that, and quality wifi if you're not. 10/10 introvert recommended, would come back even without my fiber going out.
