The Harbor at Rockwall is a perfect location for an evening stroll by the lake, dining & drinks. There are good restaurant and dessert options. There are evening cruise options which is seasonal. Restaurants deliver food by the boardwalk as well, which is something new. The harbor can get crowded and parking always gets tricky. The location is well maintained by the city and is a perfect location for photo opportunities. The boardwalk is mostly open except when weather conditions are severe. This is a big facility, it slopes down from the parking lots, to the shore of Lake Ray Hubbard, in Rockwall, Texas, about 24 miles east of Dallas, along IH30. Free parking, and Valet Parking. Strollers & wheelchairs have full access here. Watch for stairs, there will be a path around. There is a lawn, with big shade trees, and many shady cool spots outdoors. Smooth cement walkways take you all the way to the Lighthouse in the boat marina. Public restroom building is at the shore, before reaching the lighthouse. Sitting benches in the shade, or in the breeze can be found. Restaurants feature a variety of styles, half are sportsbar kitchens, others are quiet traditonal restaurants, Huckbees Coffee Shop serves cold drinks, coffee drinks, hot coffee, and bakery goods. Came here for the first time just to walk around and get out of the house. I decided to bring my dog since on google it said they were allowed to walk around, in restaurants and even in some of the shops. I didn't go in any of the shops because my dog is very anxious. I also didn't end up trying any of the restaurants because it was a bit cold and none of the patio seating was open and we weren't sure if they would allow big dogs inside. However, it was a nice scenic walk around the lake though it wasn't as bug as I expected. The parking was a disaster, they definitely need more parking. We drove around the lot multiple times before finally finding a spot. I will definitely be back to try the restaurants and shops. read more

This is a sweet spot in Rockwall near the lake. I liked the promenade type walkway around the lake. The variety of shops was limited and there was some litter throughout. It does have a couple of restaurants and places to get treats. Overall a very pleasant place to come and be by the water. Lots of families and couples. read more

SO beautiful and lovely here! You can walk around the harbor, the fountains in front of the movie theater. They have a private yacht you can pay a pretty good amount for. And a cruise boat that is about $35 per person for a two hr ride. It is BYOB for those cruises, so that seems nice. I always love coming here. although i do wish there were more restaurants and dessert places. It seems like there's a lot of closed down shops. so lots of empty storefronts. read more

Great place to hang out and listen to live music on Thursday nights and check out the gorgeous sunsets. Bring a blanket, bring the dog and some refreshing drinks and you're all set. Oh, don't forget the sunscreen and bug spray! On a serious note, whoever is in charge of attracting businesses to the Harbor really needs to step up their game. There's so much empty retail space not being used that half of the place looks like a ghost town. The only businesses that seem to be surviving are the movie theatre, Gloria's Restaurant and Dodie's - and maybe Campisi's but their menu is too limited to go there with any regularity. The management company needs to do something to attract more legit type restaurants and businesses that people will not mind putting up with the parking hassle. read more

The harbor is beautiful, peaceful and serene. There are lots of opportunities to dine overlooking the water as well. I recommend Dodie's, the food was great and literally you can take a stroll right after your meal. I'm sure more retail would attract more patrons out here however I kind of like that it is a little bit more quiet than say Frisco or Plano or some other spot overpopulated by shops and restaurants. I think it would be great to go for a cruise or boat ride here too! Take your honey or your lover or whatever it is and just take in natural beauty. I need to make another trip back out here for a beverage and a stroll! Perfect for springtime and sunny days. The Harbor is great. I live right next door and the view is amazing. There is people watching live no other. It's the perfect place to go on a date or to relax and watch the waves crash up against the rocks. There is also a splash fountain for kids to play in and is on everyday. Every Thursday they have live music all night. It's usually local unknown bands but the places around there have good deals on food and drinks. If going, you have to eat at Glorias. A destination that has lost a little bit of its glitter. First, this is a great place you need to go to. An incredible outdoor mall with its own marina. It's beautiful, flashy, truly someone's great idea. Lots of restaurants with patios facing the water. What a great place to eat. Lots of fountains, walking trails, a lighthouse at the marina. Sail with Scott has 2 big boats you can go cruising on. A Cinemark theater. Free outdoor movies and concerts. Unfortunately, most of the shops are empty. Be it the economy or the rents too high, there is very little shopping. And yes, the parking is horrible. Just not enough spots for how busy they are. Just visited The Harbor today on a spur of the moment trip and it was a refreshing experience for sure! We miss the water everyday (from San Diego, CA) and have been somewhat disappointed with water venues in the area, but this lake was actually really pretty. It does seem a bit low, but it's still a nice body of water and very pretty. There are a few nice restaurants overlooking the lake, and a nice fountain area with places to walk around. I think there are even water spouts for people to play in when it's hotter. It is kind of small so you probably would only spend half of an afternoon here, but it was a nice afternoon getaway for us. The kids had fun, we had a lot of great photo opportunities, and Gloria's was a nice stop for lunch! There is a movie theater right there as well so you can catch a movie after hanging out for a bit. Also a Coldstone for a nice ice cream treat! Cons: Not enough local bathrooms and layout was a little weird. Wish it was bigger - with a kid's park, and more stores to window shop. Overall a nice place to visit and spend family time! read more

This retail/dining/lodging development lies right on the banks of Lake Ray Hubbard, and seems to feature a lot of quality merchants. I was pleased at how they maintained a lot of the terrain with its hills and views, but parking suffers a little because of it. Still, the traffic flow mostly works, and on a cool fall Saturday afternoon, the place seemed to be bustling with activity. I walked past Tex-Mex favorite Luna de Noche and El Salvadoran local chain Gloria's; both seemed to be doing a good business. The views of the lake are mixed, with some being obscured by foliage that seems to have been planted as part of the development; perhaps some better planning would have helped this. The area is easily reachable from I-30 on the northbound side, and my egress back towards the south wasn't too bad. Check it out if you're in the area! read more

First I would like to commend the Harbor on the recent changes that were made this year. As a boater, the new docks are a fantastic improvement over the original "floating" docks; those things were an adventure to tie up to and walk on. Changing the timing for the waterworks display to come on more often, than what seemed to be only a few times a day, welcomed. The Thursday evening concerts were great even from the water among the many boats that anchored out. As someone else commented the shopping is limited (considering whats happening up on I-30) . Businesses averaging 2yrs., you never really know if they are going to be there when you return, but to be fair that could happen anywhere. Such as Blue canyon, loved that place, it was different compared to the many Tex Mex restaurants. All things consider at the Harbor, it's one of DFWs best attractions. If you ever have the opportunity to approach it at night via boat, it's not to be missed. read more

Recommended Saturday morning routine: Get to the Harbor around 10am, parking on the end next to the movie theater. Walk around until you find a lonely spot next to the water where you can watch turtles and ducks frolic about. When Gloria's opens at 11am, be first in line. Sit out on the patio. Order a mimosa and a campesino omelet, and maybe a couple more mimosas. Once you are feeling pleasantly buzzed and full, wander over to the Cinemark and catch a movie. It won't even matter which one--you will LOVE it after 3 mimosas with a bellyful of brunch. After the movie, swing by Cold Stone for a waffle bowl of deliciousness, which you will enjoy while sitting next to the fountain, waiting for young idiots to fall in and ruin their hair/makeup/cell phone. I'd love to see more business at this place; there's plenty of room. Maybe a vendor for frisbees, horseshoes, kites...? read more

The Harbor area has potential, but sadly it is a miss. The area is very small and not worth driving out there just to walk around. Unless the destination is to eat, the stores are restaurants and realtors, so not a place to go and shop. The Academy shopping center down the street has more shops than this area. If the goal is to catch a touristy boat ride or a backdrop to take some cool pictures, then this is a good area. Otherwise, totally not worth the drive. read more

Went looking for Culver's around Dallas and found one in Rockwall, not familiar with the area. While driving there, we noticed the lake, so decided to explore after we had our Concrete and came across The Harbor. It was a great find! It's a good hangout place with bunch of restaurants and shops with live music. There are couple fountains there for you to soak in a hot summer day like this (100+ degrees). There's a small light house that ads beauty to the already scenic lake. We didn't explore much about renting boats, assuming you could do that somewhere around there. We strolled for sometimes, got a few great pics around sunset with iPhone 6 and came back to Dallas. Plan to visit this place once in a while as its only 30 min drive from downtown. read more

I like the Harbor, I really do. I am a resident of Rockwall, and enjoy going to the Habor to catch a movie or dinner. But the overall experience is a little lacking to me. I think an Apple Store would be the perfect business there to round it out. If you guys have ever been to Orlando's "City Walk" and Universal you know the vision of what the Harbor COULD be. But it's not. Cramped parking, few selections for shopping and an abundance of teenagers take the sheen off of this places potential. Getting to it is not very easy either, at least from a outsiders point of view. There needs to be more obvious signage to get down to it, and once there, more parking. You can get your valet parking validated at many of the restaurants, so do that and don't worry about the hassle of parking. Agave is about as close as Rockwall has to a "night club" besides Applebee's, which I dont know is sad or small town charm. It is what it is. I am holding out hope that someday with new tenants and a few improvements the Harbor can become a DFW shopping and entertaingment destination. read more

The array of restaurants options are great which make it an excellent place for a date as to decide what to eat here and not discuss about it prior to. Love the Spanish hacienda style overlooking the lake of the harbor which makes it have some hints of Spanish/ mediterranean feel. My take just come check it out and and enjoy it. read more

The Harbor is a fun place to check out if you're bored, with family, have never seen it before, and/or a tourist. There's plenty of shops and places to eat around there, and there's usually something's going on to watch on the water (fishermen, jet skiing, boats, sails, etc.) DO NOT GO ON WEEKEND NIGHTS! Or most nights for that matter. The tons of obnoxious tweens are on the loose, and now that Gloria's/Agave/etc. have opened up nearby there's drunk people galore after 10pm on weekends, on top of the many texting tweens. The movie theatre within walking distance also adds on to the crowd, and don't say you weren't warned when I type that PARKING CAN BE A NIGHTMARE. Plan accordingly if you're visiting on a busy night or in groups/multiple cars. Some of the restaurants have valet, though. I think... However, on a nicer note, the Harbor is an excellent place to take a stroll on a lovely Sunday afternoon, Texas weather permitting. read more

We went here for one reason and one reason only-picture opportunities for my two graduating seniors. I have to tell you the place delivered! This is a great little area on Lake Ray Hubbard that has a little something for everyone-eateries,shopping, photo ops. It is a nice area to just walk around and take your time checking everything out. The photo ops are great. They have fountains,a light house, the lake as a back drop. We got some great pics of the kids and will probably come back to get some family photos later. We were lucky-we went right after work and beat the rush. And restaurants and businesses keep leaving b/c the rent for them is too high. Also, there are FOUR Mexican restaurants. That's a lot. I love Mexican food as much as the next Texan, but I would like more options. (There's also Cajun, 2 burger places, 2 ice cream places, and an American Fare.) So if it weren't for the in and out businesses (you can't used to something being there for long) and lack of type of foods to choose from, I'd give this place another star. If this place wasn't about an hour away from me, I'd be here quite often! I have lived in Dallas for about 4 years now and I have never visited a lake here. Just not my thing. While I technically just visited the harbor shops here, I still count it as visiting the lake. Beautiful views! Especially at sunset! I didn't know this area had natural beauty! Don't get mad at me native Texas! But it's true. There were plentiful shops and restaurants to visit, even a movie theater. I also noticed a hotel on the waterfront. You could definitely have a nice time just staying in this area for a day. The little lighthouse was pretty cute. Parking is free and plentiful. Ghost Town- is the phrase that I would use to describe The Harbor. When The Harbor first opened it was exciting and new, a fun place to eat and go to see a movie. Many people boast about their concerts on Thursday nights, but during my last visit, I noticed that The Harbor seems to be full of failing businesses. It seems that there are more closed shops and restaurants, than there are open. I think that The Harbor is a prime location, but it needs an identity. Is it going to be a place for families, a place full of high-end restaurants and offices, or a place for entertainment and nightlife. I would love to see the space evolve into something like the Kemah Boardwalk, that could incorporate all three. However, for now, it seems as if it's a prime spot to take Prom Pictures, or to take a walk. read more
