I initially came for the A2Kicks shoe store, but stayed for the pastry shop and Gordita's restaurant. The food is authentic and full of flavor. The red velvet cookies from Lorena's Cakes were soft, flavorful and delicious. I want more. Everything in the plaza is reasonably priced, and the entrepreneurs give service with a smile. The vibe is great for all ages.

There are multiple different food options, there were clothing stores, wedding dress stores, phone stores. It's the plaza that just keeps on giving. Just keep walking around the building and you will find something worth your while. There was even live music going in the front!!! I am not on this side of town much but it seems like a cool place to go while out with family or by yourself.

It's been years since I hav been to Downtown Garland, and tonight as I walked around their square I…read morewas completely charmed with their presence. Beautiful old buildings are still the main staple surrounding the square. And I do love old buildings! The vintage bricks. Their big sweeping windows - perfect for grand store displays. And if I'm real lucky they will have original signage on the buildings. That's the part that makes me the happiest. And today I was in luck as I walked along Garlands square - the most beautiful old sign glowed in the night like a beacon drawing me in - it is the Plaza Theater. I stood there in awe. Yes, it was a grand thing to see! And they have many shows there. I just missed Sleepy Hollow. I wish I knew about it, that would have been a treat to see in this theater. Looking at upcoming events I am already making plans to attend some of them. I truly cannot wait! With it being October, pumpkins and straw filled the benches with fall sweetness. And children were playing in the middle courtyard. There's something beautiful about children playing and laughing. so, now I must end this review with a quiet but meaningful statement - Downtown Garland has captured that small home town feel many of us look for. So, don't miss out on this rare treat if you are in the neighborhood.

It's a great place for date night. It also has a bar/cafe which is a little weird when you add in the ambiance of the restaurant. It was like two competing environments - quite dinner vs chaos of a coffee house. The food over all was good. We enjoyed the mussels, brussels, and tomato basil soup. The pasta I ordered, while flavorful, was over cooked and slathered in too much sauce, in my opinion. The meatballs were ok, but I've had better. Staff was nice, friendly, and attentive. They checked in on us while still giving us time and privacy for a quiet dinner. I would love to just spend the day reading here given the vibes.
