It is hard to rate Town East Mall when there are so many great franchises that reside in this…read moreestablishment. The reason for the low rating is that the management does not value the money the franchises are giving them by using some of the money to keep up the grounds which includes security and managing the restrooms. Is there security, yes. Are they helpful, no. They either stand up as a group and chat or sit in their vehicle rather than patrolling the grounds and deterring bad behavior. Moreover, the restrooms are out of order, with no regular maintenance to ensure they stay clean and well stocked. (See pictures of how the men's restroom looked for the week of Black Friday and how much worse it got by the Christmas holidays.) I feel the store options in this mall is top quality, yet the management needs to pay more attention to keeping the grounds up which includes expectations for the security staff they hire. Do more for the people, Town East Mall management team? We deserve for our community similar events that North Park Mall and the Galleria offer their guests.

Beautiful old buildings are still the main staple surrounding the square. And I do love old buildings! The vintage bricks. Their big sweeping windows - perfect for grand store displays. And if I'm real lucky they will have original signage on the buildings. That's the part that makes me the happiest. And today I was in luck as I walked along Garlands square - the most beautiful old sign glowed in the night like a beacon drawing me in - it is the Plaza Theater. I stood there in awe. Yes, it was a grand thing to see! And they have many shows there. I just missed Sleepy Hollow. I wish I knew about it, that would have been a treat to see in this theater. Looking at upcoming events I am already making plans to attend some of them. I truly cannot wait! With it being October, pumpkins and straw filled the benches with fall sweetness. And children were playing in the middle courtyard. There's something beautiful about children playing and laughing. so, now I must end this review with a quiet but meaningful statement - Downtown Garland has captured that small home town feel many of us look for. So, don't miss out on this rare treat if you are in the neighborhood.

This was an empty lot for so long and love to see the area building up. We desperately needed a grocery store like Trader Joes in the area. I could understand maybe three of them, but there are somewhere close to 20-25 spots that I used to be able to use that are now unusable and sit empty. They now force you to park in a parking garage, even when it's completely dead in the center and the restaurants are basically completely empty. They've gone so nuts as to even have closer spots in the parking garage to now be 15 minute parking spots. They've also converted the Trader Joe's parking lot, which used to be half reserved for TJ's near the store and half open to restaurant parking on the other side of the lot, into 100% Trader Joe's parking. They continue to open up new restaurants here, a number of which have closed and a number of others that struggle to stay busy, and a lot of the problems have been due to people not being able to easily park anywhere near the restaurants. The ownership of this center must be nuts. Can't tell you the number of people I know who no longer go anywhere in here for lunch or dinner, because parking has become so inconvenient.
