We came for Thursday night happy hour and stayed to listen to the band. Marble Heart Trio was fantastic! I also appreciated that the music wasn't so loud that we couldn't carry on a conversation. A huge plus. Since it was our first time here, we decided to share several appetizers. Every single one was delicious! We ordered the loaded mashed potatoes, grilled shrimp skewers, the beer cheese pretzel board, and the Angus beef sliders with shoestring fries. Everything was perfect for sharing, and we finished every bite. The service was excellent, and we really enjoyed the overall atmosphere. We're already looking forward to coming back to try more items on the menu. We shared three different items and we both enjoyed them all. My complaint is the table and chairs. Both were leaning about 1-1/2" so we had to put our weight on them to level them. Also the chairs we were on had a weird slope that makes you slide out of them. Fix these and easily a 5 star rating.

We called about half hour before and made a reservation by phone. I was disappointed that my first order choice of the Seabass was unavailable and my second choice of lamb chops was also unavailable. Not sure if this is because it was a Sunday night and/or we made the reservation immediately before showing up. They were also out of the Melted Cast-Iron Brie Small Plate that we were excited about ordering for the table. We loved this restaurant because of the dark and jungle-themed interior. We were excited to see the bold taxidermy featuring the large cats combined with the ornate, gold- framed dapper animal art hanging on the walls. Another reason to love this spot: hidden inside is an entrance to a secret cocktail lounge, or speakeasy, called "Drop Dead Gorgeous." We also appreciated the entire restaurant centering around a glowing, raw wood-fire cooking pit. We could hear and watch our entrées being prepared. What we didn't love so much: the items that we would've liked to have ordered were unavailable. The price to portion ratio in the small bites could also be improved a bit. Great service from our waitress throughout the evening. We ordered: - Fire Roasted Bone Marrow for the table (3/5) - sourdough toast, jalapeño marmalade with demi. I was so excited to try bone marrow for the first time. It was interesting. Sort of like a mix between butter and fat from a steak. It tasted really good with the spicy jalapeño jelly and bread provided. I expected us to be warm and it came out cold. Still not sure if I like it or not. Maybe I'll give it a second try - White Oak Grilled Chicken Skewers (4/5) - served with shiso leaves, kimchi, shishito peppers. kosho aioli, lemon aioli, ssamjung for the table - Very yummy. We enjoyed these. We had actually changed our mind right after initially putting in the milk bread order for the table and they brought out the milk bread so quickly that our waitress said she would give this to us on the house. - Milk Bread for the table (4/5) - miso tomato butter, almond & Kalamata. Even though we changed our mind and got this sent to our table accidentally, I would order this again. It was very delicious and it comes out as an adorable little tomato shaped and colored milk bread with the toppings looking like the stem on top. So tasty and everybody loved it. A little small for our party of five. - Lemongrass Half Chicken (5/5) - Caramelized carrots, kyoto roasted garlic, mashed potatoes & jalapeno jam. Hubs loved this. He said everything was delicious and went well together. - Bomba Rice x2 (5/5) - Risotto, shrimp, linguica, chicken, piquillo peppers, green peas, kosher aioli & Parmesan. My son and his girlfriend both ordered this and said it was very good. - Shishito Caesar Salad add Chicken Skewers (5/5) - bonito, charred shishito peppers, ricotta salata, tapioca chicharron & togarashi. My daughter ordered this and said it was very good. - Spicy Peanut & Tomato Salad add Chicken Skewers (5/5) - peanut dressing, heirloom tomato, baby gem, daikon radish, onion, mala chile, whipped queso de cabra & sour nut. YUMMMM What a creative and unique salad! So glad I tried it. It has unique flavors that work well with each other and a crunch. There's also some heat that goes along with the salad. I was able to withstand it. My son would probably say it's not spicy at all. I'll be craving this salad for months to come. - Dad or Daddy Specialty Cocktail - bright, buzzed & stoned vodka, apricot liqueur, Riesling cordial, ginger, lime, topped with Red Bull Peach Edition (White Peach) - Fruity Mocktail - I asked the waitress if they had any mocktails and she asked me what I liked and gave me examples. Based on what I told her she brought me out a delicious fruity mocktail topped with fresh mint. Parking along the street at metered parking or in parking garage nearby. A few streets away from Tempe Town Lake.

Music is always on pointe and I would never change the look or ambiance of the place either. My last trip here though I had to ask about why the menu had stopped changing as often since we were one of two parties there in the middle of happy hour and there was a large framed picture of a bartender with a bunch of signed notes on the bottom of it beside me at the bar. It turns out that one of the oldest curators and bartenders of the bar and restaurant had passed from a drunk driving incident and I had not known at all! Gosh I was so disappointed in myself that I had ever complained about not having a new menu to try after that...but at the same time it was amazing to hear so many great anecdotes and to learn so much more about him and the history of the bar itself while dining this time. I had a lot of fun times at this bar - including remembering the first time I met that bartender and sharing that memory with the staff that told me their story. They also shared that they would be coming out with a new menu very soon and some of the new items and ideas that would be rolling out so I am also very excited to go back! Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome throughout our visit. My only real criticism is that the menu felt a bit limited, especially for vegetarians. There weren't many vegetarian options available, which could make it difficult for some people to find something that appeals to them. That said, the food was great, the service was excellent, the pricing was fair, and the overall experience was very enjoyable. I would definitely return the next time I'm in Arizona.

My son had ordered food from here as takeout last year. The food taste was interesting, though, I really like the cheese dip for the pretzel bites. The bites were pretty big. Lots of tables at this location, a bit warm. But our party of 14 was easily accommodated. Our daughter chose this place and it was quite loud. My husband and I are quiet people, so if we were to choose again, probably not here because of the loudness and all the TVs all over the place. But for those who like it loud, TVs and do not mind the prices on the menu, have at it. I don't remember our server's name. If she told us, I couldn't hear what she said. She was alright. Honestly, I had a hard time hearing even my son who sat next to me, and hearing my sister who sat one seat over in front of me, I couldn't hear what she was saying. Loudness is an issue for me and I do not have hearing issues. Our bill with tip came to over $700+. That was the most expensive lunch we've ever spent for our party of 14. Typically we're in the $400-500 range. But it was a special occasion. My husband and son got the 36 hr ribs. My husband really loved them. My son said it was okay. I didn't ask my brother and BIL who also got the same dish. I know my BIL was unhappy that he didn't get the side he requested and when they gave it to him (asparagus, I think), it was cold and he wasn't pleased about this. I got the hub burger and it was okay. There was a lot on the burger, but the patty itself, didn't have that much flavor. Some of the "Starters" or appetizers things were salted too much, but the burger did not taste like it had any salt. I had eaten too many starters so when my food came, I wasn't very hungry and took most of it home and ate for dinner another night. My husband and son do not like coleslaw and I ate theirs. THIS I really liked and tasted much better than KFC. I loved the sweetness and that the cabbage was shredded bigger than KFC. The pretzel bites were good. We got wings, and they were so-so. The roasted brussel sprouts were too salty. The deviled eggs were okay, but pricey for 2.5 eggs, which I do pay at Trader Joe's for organic free range pasturized eggs I could've gotten over 2 dozens. But, yes, I pay for the service and ambiance. I really thought there would be more than 5 halves for the deviled eggs. We got the nachos and they were okay. The melted cheese sauce was the best part. My mom got the fish and chips and she seemed to pick at it. She didn't want to take home, so it must not have been that good because she almost always takes a doggy bag home. My sister had the salmon and it was in a huge bowl and didn't look to be that much food. It was pricey. One of my SILs got something I didn't recognize and she said it was okay. No one I could tell was over the moon with the taste of the food and I heard the word "interesting" quite a bit. It's not that it tasted bad, but it didn't really taste good good. You know what I mean? I did bring a special order cake I got at Nothing Bundt Cakes in Gilbert. I asked Culinary Dropout if we could borrow a cake cutter. They didn't have one. Weird. This was a Red Velvet cake and this was absolutely divine. It was moist. The frosting was some sort of yummy cream cheese frosting. The cake was perfectly sized for our party of 14. The cake was the best part of our meal and it didn't come from Culinary Dropout. I would pay this much for a meal at Roy's for lunch for this sized party, but alas, all the Roy's in the valley are closed down. So sad. I'm not saying this place is bad or the food tastes bad. It's okay and pricey. If the food was great or amazing, we don't mind pricey. We have paid over $1K for meals for our big party, and happily do so when the food is equivalent to the price.

The brisket burnt ends were phenomenal, rich and smoky, with a small side of coleslaw that perfectly balanced the flavors. For something lighter, the Hamachi Crudo paired with the egg yolk nigiri provided a momentary escape to Japan. The fish feature of the night, the Hamachi collar, arrived with a Thai-inspired salad and savory broth that was both delicate and bold. We had been waiting forever to come to this location but it is always crazy busy so we hadn't stopped in until now. Our waitress was extremely uninvolved. We waited until we saw her again and asked but if anyone knows how it is with a toddler, not getting his drink is always stressful lol. When it came to ordering, the food took a long time which was fine but when it came out, they got my order wrong, it was a completely different meal. By the time I received my meal, my son and husband had already finished their meals. I got the Parmesan crusted chicken and one was great like normal but the other chicken breast was rubbery and hard to eat so I had to waste that whole breast. Which if you've seen the price of this meal, that is a big disappointment. Throughout the meals as well, we had to ask for refills of drinks and when the check came out, she double charged us for my meal. She wouldn't come around so I had to walk up to the cashier's in the back to try to get it corrected. We finished the night off with a pizookie which was great so that would be our only good thing about our visit. I was actually shocked that they didn't offer anything to help the poor dining we had because of how terrible our experience was, even the manager brought out my main meal after the mishap happened so they were aware.
