A quaint establishment with a fantastic atmosphere and great food. Only negative is the trickery of the clocks; the hands don't move.

The spot is located up a literal winding staircase that takes you into an inviting room that boasts a lovely view of the river below. We didn't go to the third floor, but I can imagine it was equally lovely. They've got an impressive wine list and a moderate beer list that's predominantly bottle. Interestingly they don't have spirits so the mixed drinks are wine cocktails - boss! I tried a white port and tonic drink - seriously next level! I don't often find wine cocktails and even more rarely are they really good! The menu is impressive and seasonal, save the potted crab and haddock, which are on all the time. It should be know for any who dine with our crew, that we share a lot, so everything we had was enjoyed by all 5 of us. The crab was unbelievable! Creamy, flavorful, magical. The beef cheek and fish plate were also perfect for sharing. We also had two scotch eggs - these could have a Klondike bar (look it up youngins!) like marketing campaign! We shared the Haddock and the Pigs on Green Port Tenderloin. Both were awesome, with the Haddock more memorable. We haven't had such delicious mashed fish since Iceland and the cheddar mash and onions were the perfect accoutrement! The chocolate fondant was delicious and the bread and butter bread pudding was life changing. The whiskey sauce is something I'd swim in if given the chance! It was lick the plate good. The service was spot on and we got out of there for about €50 a person, full and happy! The whole evening was excellent and this place definitely deserves the accolades. If you're in the area, you should check it out!

This is evident by the name drop of some producers in each dish. My family was able to try a scotch egg for the first time, some beef cheek, crab and a charcuterie board with meats from Cork. Even the beers we ordered were local as well, mine from the Waterford area. Our server walked us through this experience with ease and we all couldn't be happier with our time here, especially for a Sunday afternoon when it could have been a lot louder and chaotic.

I visited this restaurant as a recommendation from a local while visiting Newry for meetings. I…read morereally wanted to try traditional Irish fare so I was a little disappointed when I saw nachos on the menu but I decided to give it a try anyways. They have a lot of different menu items so I decided to ask the server for local food items. She advised that the mussels, calamari, haddock and ribs were local so we opted for a large bowl of mussels and regular size plates of haddock and ribs. They had a lot of interesting choices from all around the world but I like to taste the local ingredients when in traveling. We got the mussels in the white wine cream sauce and I was very happy with that choice because they were so fresh and almost sweet. My dinner companion was not happy that this mussel was tiny. It didn't bother me. The Haddock boujons were perfectly cooked and crispy. They came on top of a little mashed potatoes with mushy peas. For the final plate we got the ribs. They were heavenly, I almost want to say the best I've ever had. The reason. Why is because the meat was tender like butter. The flavor was delicious but it wasn't heavy or heavily smoked like the libs in the USA. They were like air. Not sure if that makes sense but it's the best way I can describe it. For dessert we got the Bailey's cheesecake. It was so smooth that it was like a mousse. Soooo good. The house wine was an insanely good Sauvignon Blanc. The service was great. They were very attendant. The ambience is casual which I liked. The only negative mark o can give is that the beer on draught is German. I was dying for a pint if Irish beer and had to settle for a bottle. I would recommend this restaurant. Everything we had was good

The Martello is a charming little bistro - the sort you really wish was within staggering distance of your own front door, sadly for us it would be a considerable stagger - some 10 miles - and there is no amount of alcohol of an eve that will keep me going that long. Inside it is perhaps a bit dark during the day but in the evening you don't notice this. The cuisine is European I guess; I can't nail it down any more than that. They do Seafood - glory be, a seaside restaurant that knows what a fish is! - this is a favourite rant of mine, not half enough fish places about... The menu is a set affair for 25Euro pp for a 3 course meal but splash out and pay the supplement of 4.50Eur and get the Dublin Bay Prawns, worth every cent. The Mediterranean Seafood stew is likewise worth a shot, lovely with a bottle of good dry white wine!

The kiwi had a steak, which was one of the most perfectly cooked steaks I have ever had. The service was perfect and lovely. They even remembered we had to be out of there by a certain time to make a show, so the food was prompt and beautiful. Add to that the fabulous gay couple sitting next to us, who were lovely, chatty, and told my bf how fabulous his outfit was. It was like home.
