A very nice young woman named Addy at the Green Spot was able to fully trim Otto's nails Saturday without sending him into a panic. He was as calm as I've ever seen him in public. Something about her and her technique and demeanor made him relax. Bravo Addy! Also, we picked up a cool lavender pullover and the employees in the store took his picture and showered Otto with love and kept telling him how wonderful he is. They went above and beyond to give us a memorable experience full of treats, pets, attention, and a customized welcome table. They were able to roam around at their own pace and enjoy a stress free time shopping for their birthday treats. It was stress free for us humans not having to look for another dog around the corner! The staff at The Green Spot are so knowledgeable and helpful! They always treat my furbaby like he's part of the family. They get down on the ground to give him all the loves and never get frustrated when he cries for extra pets. His cry is more like an annoying scream but they love him regardless. It's been 2 years and a lot has happened so I thought I would update my review. Last year when things were shutting down in the early spring, the Green Spot was able to pivot quickly and provide curbside pickup or even delivery service when needed. They may have been planning to renovate anyway but with less foot traffic in 2020 it was a good opportunity to do so. I've been a few times since they fully "reopened" and it feels a lot bigger and a lot brighter inside. It feels like one big store instead of 2 smaller bays put together as it did before with hidden corners and narrow walkways. Another new feature is the ability to schedule nail trims or reserve the do-it-yourself "spot wash" in advance. One can now pre-pay and book the bath online in advance so there's no waiting around and no pressure to rush with people waiting behind you. Also the room is enclosed so there are fewer distractions and it's more difficult for your furry pal to escape! The store also doesn't have that humid, wet dog smell with fur flying around. I really prefer this system. Also, when I book in advance I know I will do it instead of putting it off. My Willow had a bath recently for the first time in over a year and she feels so soft and clean again. :) read more

Updating my review as the Green Spot is going Downhill, Listed as a dog Groomer... although we were a regular every 6 weeks we would get our pup groomed.. And they are not really able to provide any of the services of a groomer. It was fine Until over a year ago their groomers started quitting on them. Then It became really impossible to get an appointment and then if you did it would get rescheduled and or cancelled. It got to the point we just quit going. As asking us to schedule 3 months out after our original appointment was just not going to work and was rude While I love the local family owned aspect of it. We moved our services to Pucci's they take much better care of us and I dont feel like a burden which is what the Green Spot has made me feel like for the last 12 months. read more

I've washed my dog here once. It is a good place. There are some good thing and some bad. Good things 1. I don't have to clean the space when I'm done. My dog was shedding and I left the room covered in fur. I'm glad I didn't have to clean up. 2. It was affordable $20 for 45mins 3. They provide some tools for cleaning dog, like a rubber brush to de-shed, shampoo, towels, large bib to keep your clothes from getting wet, and blow dryer. They had other tools, I'm just listing ones I used. Bad things 1. The tub is very high up and no steps for dog to get in. If you have a heavy dog, it will be very difficult to get them in the tub. 2. The water hose was gentle, I wish it had more pressure to wash off the soap they provided. 3. The shampoo provided seems to be very watered down and difficult to rinse out. I would bring your own shampoo. 4. The blow dryer isn't very strong however, they did say it was so the dog won't be scared of the noise. The vacuum is still loud enough to bother my pet but I do think they provided something to cover the dogs ears. 5. A few small towels are provided, but you should expect to have a wet pet when you're done. Ask for more towels before washing pet especially if it's a big dog. Overall this place is great if you don't want to ruin your bathroom washing a big shedding dog. It's worth the 20 bucks, just be prepared to lift your dog into a tub that's raised off the ground. read more

After taking my dog to Heflinger dog park, he was in serious need of a bath, and there was no way I was letting the filthy boy in the house like that. It's February so my hose outside isn't hooked up. I thought, oh man I'm going to have to take him to a groomer and wait for a long time. Then I remembered the Green Spot's self service wash and I headed right over. They have two bath tubs that you can use, no appointment needed. For only $15 they provide everything you need: shampoo, conditioner, ear cleaner, towels, brush, blow dry. And they have these water resistant aprons to keep you dry (ish). The tub is plenty big for my 65 lb Labrador mix, and it's great to be able to have 360 access to your dog while washing. My only complaint would be the drain. They have these two drain traps to keep the hair out, understandably so, but it makes the tub drain verrrrrry slowly, so unless you stop the water every few minutes, your dog is standing in quite a bit of dirty water. The staff are great. They help you get set up and give you plenty of tips. Like I learned to put the tip of the vacuum right up to the skin so you get out all the water plus blow out a bit more undercoat. The store also has a nice large selection of toys, food, treats, leashes, and their supplies. And they've got these nice sturdy leash grips at the counter so you can pay without your pup yanking on your arm to get to the bin of duck feet. Finally, I love the ambience of the store. Yes it's a pet store, but it doesn't have that industrial feel you get from the big-box places. It feels warm and cozy, welcoming you and your pet. read more

I cannot express how wonderful The Green Spot is. I volunteer for a local rescue and had a 6 month old lab puppy that I needed to be fitted for a harness. She was extremely timid and pretty much shut down as soon as I got her in the front door. The staff immediately came over to help me, taking us back to the grooming room for some privacy in hopes it would help. I told them what I needed, they measured her, and brought back a few selections to choose from. I was allowed to leave her in the grooming room while I went out front to pay and then they had me drive around to the back of the building and come in that entrance to avoid having to put her through walking through the store again. When we adopted our dog from Hands, Hearts, and Paws earlier this year, we received a welcome package that had coupons from different vendors. One of them was for The Green Spot. We were gobsmacked by how many different items they gave us for free just for adopting! The people helping us were very friendly and knowledgeable and guided us around the store to find everything. One of the items we purchased (outside of the free goodies) was a "Mine Pet Platter" (https://minepetplatter.com/p/features). I think it might be the greatest dog feeding invention ever. It puts your dog in a natural feeding state. They eat slower, explore all around the board (especially if you hide other dog friendly food amongst the kibbles), and do a lot of licking which promotes digestion. That's just one thing among many you'll find there that you won't find at chain pet stores or the pet section at any "super" store. Plus money spent with locally-owned businesses has a MUCH greater economic benefit to the community. I'm begging all of you pet lovers in the Omaha metro area...get to The Green Spot and support local. Find something that will make your pet happier and healthier. I went to the green spot for the first time this morning. I got there right when they opened at 11 and there were several people who also got there right when I did. I had my dog with me and we were both greeted promptly. We walked around for a little while just looking at everything they had and they have everything from speciality dog food and treats to dog toys, collars and leashes, dog clothes, and a ton more. I love to shop locally when I can and I loved that this store was selling local products and items that I've bought from people at the farmers market and other events around omaha. We ended up deciding on a cute hand made collar made locally in omaha. I was so excited when I saw that they carried the Mazzyco brand collars, they are super cute, and besides online and the farmers market I wasn't sure where else i could buy them. When we were checking out I asked them about a nail trim and they said that they would have time to do one now, they had regular nail clipping for $10 and nail grinding for $14. I went with the nail grinding. My dog does not like strangers so I asked if I could go back with her so she would be more comfortable, and hopefully not bite anybody... They were totally fine with me going back with her. They brought us to a small grooming room in the back and the lady who did my dogs nails was very nice. My dog of course was struggling to get away and being very difficult but she managed to get all of her nails done very quickly. There were several people using the self service dog wash which is $15, I didn't try that because I have no need, but if I ever do have a need for a self service dog wash this is the first place I would try. My only gripe with The Green Spot is the name. It confuses those of us who've lived in MJ states. In fact, it disappoints us. Horribly. But it's really not the Green Spot's fault that other states are a lot cooler, man. The only reason I don't visit The Green Spot more often is that there are other local pet stores closer to me, as in, "Whoops, I thought we had enough dog food for the next two days, but I guess not." On the other hand, The Green Spot is super convenient when I'm hitting up other places in the area like Jersey Mike's, Orange Leaf, Pop Culture Exchange, or Fancy Aldi. It's close to a Bed, Bath, and Beyond, Kohl's, and Cavender's, which is nice but I'm all about thatsub/froyo/dork/German efficiency/dog life. The Green Spot though is probably the best store for dog and cat parents, if you're looking for a good selection. Generally I stick to the same brand, but mix it up for ol' doggo in the flavor department. He's a picky eater and gets bored with his dog food after a week. The staff is very helpful. On my first visit, I was kind of daunted by the enormity and variety of the space, but a clerk pointed me exactly in the right direction. The biggest problem is that they have so many fun little toys and treats that shopping here results in Target-level impulse purchases! When my dog sees me come home with shopping bags, he sits like a good boy and waits for me to produce his treasures! But my baby is worth it, so whatever. read more

Wow. I am thoroughly impressed with the green spot. When you first approach the building there's plenty of parking in a private lot for you. There's a big fire hydrant outside the door which I think is really cute and made me laugh. Once you enter the space opens up to a pretty large store and that's only the half of it- there's a narrow hallway on either end of the store leading to a second-half!! The first half of the store that you enter focuses mainly on treats, clothing, toys, and grooming supplies; there's also self wash stalls here for your dogs that you can pay to use. Other than long dog fat cat, I think the green spot has the most variety and options of treats compared any other private independent pet store here in Omaha that I've visited. They also have a very large variety / stock of toys and leashes as well! The second half of the store is dedicated to food both for dogs and cats, a waiting lounge for your dog being groomed and the groomer stalls. I think it's quite fancy that they have a lounge area with a TV and coffee and couches for you to wait for your dog! The food options for dogs here are very vast and they have many great brands including the one we feed our dog. They also subscribe to the philosophy of different kinds of feeding so they have raw diets, dry kibble, wet food etc. I checked the prices and found they are comparable to the other small pet store that we are buying from currently. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly and even gave me a few samples of different kinds of foods to take home and feed my dog. Probably two of the downfalls I see here is that they don't have a sale bin for treats like other stores do and considering their large inventory I would think that there would be more sale items of treats that are about to expire. I love that option because we go through treats so quickly finding cheaper treats close to expiration is a great way to save money. Secondly their reward program requires you to spend $100 before getting five dollars off. A few of the stores in town I only have to spend $50 to get five dollars off. This store has definitely quickly climbed to the top of my favorites with three dog, wag, and long dog fat cat. There's no need for the commercial chains with these stores in town. I visited The Green Spot for the first time today for a grooming appointment. I was pretty pleased that I was able to schedule the appointment morning of, but that's about it. I specifically told the groomer I did not want her to trim the curls on top of my dog's head, but when I returned an hour later, they were trimmed. And the fur on his face, which is usually trimmed to follow his jaw line, was completely butchered. Really disappointed, especially considering the grooming for my 30lb dog was $65. When I initially walked in I immediately begin pushing through the collars and leashes, trying to figure out what would be best for my growing puppy. The sales lady at the counter shortly met me in my pile of merchandise and was VERY helpful in finding an adjustable harness to fit my pup. On top of there wonderful supply of environmentally friendly items, this local small business also works with a pug rescue. Washed the dogs in the self service wash on the way through town. The shop is very cute with lots of my favorite merch. The wash is well supplied with shampoo, conditioner, ear cleaner, and brushes. The only negative is that they have these beautiful old tubs to wash them in but the stairs up to them are very steep and narrow which were difficult to navigate with my big ungrateful Bulldogs. read more

For years we'd take our pets to Pet smart ( they were close, had good hours and were overall on the lower side price wise) but the dogs returned home and they didn't look "freshly clean" if you know what I mean. They were, just Ok. One day we decided to try Green Spot and let's just say Jake and Max are seeing green... Their attention is fantastic, and their grooming services are out of this world. The dogs come home and they smell nice and their fur so soft ( how do you do it? ) and on most times, they come home with a festive bandana that looks too cute not to take off. Nails are grounded way back and overall they do what they do greatly. They might be a little bit more than Pet Smart, but the difference is super visible. They also have treats, which we have bought and they have a duck foot if you check in with Yelp, ( that our dogs, of course, devoured) go visit them, they are cool and you can tell they like what they do! read more
