This is such a cute little shop! I'm gonna have to come back when I have my dog with me, but I got her a few cute toys. The prices are definitely more in the moderate range but they do support a lot of smaller businesses so I feel like it's worth it. They're a selection of food is actually very impressive and they have a good range of chew toys. The workers were very friendly and everything is very pleasing to look at. My dog would have a blast here!

Very friendly staff and huge selection. Our little boy "Owen" has loved almost everything we've bought. He has his moments of being picky. Always a positive outcome each time I've been to the store.

The staff at The Green Spot are so knowledgeable and helpful! They always treat my furbaby like he's part of the family. They get down on the ground to give him all the loves and never get frustrated when he cries for extra pets. His cry is more like an annoying scream but they love him regardless. We go once a week to load up on chews for the long work week. They also have a lot of enrichments toys/items to help me make it through meetings since I work from home.

My social kitty boy LOVES it here. My cats are indoor only, so it's a great way to give him a change of scenery.

I used to work here for a couple years so I can truly vouch for how much education & care goes on behind the scenes. Even though there's great variety, every product is carefully curated & held to the highest quality standards. I only want the best for my spoiled rotten kitties & I trust The Green Spot wholeheartedly to provide that for them!!

So many quality pet items packed into a small shop. Big shoutout for TGS offering freebies - supplement, small dog food, treats, CBD drops and more - to adopted pups. We will be back!

Updating my review as the Green Spot is going Downhill, Listed as a dog Groomer... although we were a regular every 6 weeks we would get our pup groomed.. And they are not really able to provide any of the services of a groomer. It was fine Until over a year ago their groomers started quitting on them. Then It became really impossible to get an appointment and then if you did it would get rescheduled and or cancelled. It got to the point we just quit going. As asking us to schedule 3 months out after our original appointment was just not going to work and was rude While I love the local family owned aspect of it. We moved our services to Pucci's they take much better care of us and I dont feel like a burden which is what the Green Spot has made me feel like for the last 12 months.

    Spot wash...$15, it's a bargain!

After taking my dog to Heflinger dog park, he was in serious need of a bath, and there was no way I was letting the filthy boy in the house like that. It's February so my hose outside isn't hooked up. I thought, oh man I'm going to have to take him to a groomer and wait for a long time. Then I remembered the Green Spot's self service wash and I headed right over. They have two bath tubs that you can use, no appointment needed. For only $15 they provide everything you need: shampoo, conditioner, ear cleaner, towels, brush, blow dry. And they have these water resistant aprons to keep you dry (ish). The tub is plenty big for my 65 lb Labrador mix, and it's great to be able to have 360 access to your dog while washing. My only complaint would be the drain. They have these two drain traps to keep the hair out, understandably so, but it makes the tub drain verrrrrry slowly, so unless you stop the water every few minutes, your dog is standing in quite a bit of dirty water. The staff are great. They help you get set up and give you plenty of tips. Like I learned to put the tip of the vacuum right up to the skin so you get out all the water plus blow out a bit more undercoat. The store also has a nice large selection of toys, food, treats, leashes, and their supplies. And they've got these nice sturdy leash grips at the counter so you can pay without your pup yanking on your arm to get to the bin of duck feet. Finally, I love the ambience of the store. Yes it's a pet store, but it doesn't have that industrial feel you get from the big-box places. It feels warm and cozy, welcoming you and your pet.

    Goodies!

    I. Love. This. Place! Especially Mimi the house Pug. I only feed my nearly 6-year old Doxie the best, and so glad they have Honest Kitchen on the shelf. You can't walk into this place and NOT be happy! Dog stuff everywhere! From leads, to harnesses, dishes, dry/dehydrated foods, wash bays, human bathrooms (always a plus), toys, treats and even tents! I will DEFINITELY be back here and totally bringing Mr O.

Do they provide professional grooming or just self grooming?

yes, they have "we groom" and "u groom" services. Check their website for pricing info. They don't offer full hair cutting services, however.

We recently celebrated my boyfriend's sister's birthday at Omaha Tap house and saw that there were some great restaurants, bakeries, and small businesses. I knew I needed to come back on a day where I had ample time to check it out. As I was driving into the parking lot I saw Heartland Paws. My boyfriend and I just recently had a conversation about cat food and whether wet or dry food would be best. I decided to hop in and see what kind of wet food they had for cats. Chris greeted me immediately as I walked in and inquired as to what I was looking for. Normally, I try to scope out the place first then ask later. Total in my shell kind of shopper. But Chris shared substantial information about the dog and cat food he carries that I realized there's more brands out there that I hadn't heard of before. I'm all about supporting small businesses and businesses that practice mindful, ethical, humane, and environmentally friendly processes; I do my best to support these kinds of businesses as much as possible. I could tell Chris loves animals and pets by the care he takes in choosing the food brands he carries. I decided to grab a few wet rustic blend from Open Farm cat foods for our cat to try with her current dry kibble. I also picked up a couple of Fussie cat formula wet food with goat's milk. On the way out I picked up some peanut butter yogurt treats from a small bakery called Woofables in Coraville IA for our golden retriever. I love that Heartland paws strives to carry both great tasting foods and treats for cats and dogs, but they also support businesses that make it their priority to feed our furry family members the best food for them. I also appreciate that the back area of the store is used for introductions of rescues to new pet parents. I will definitely stop here again for my pet food needs and look forward to sharing this great pet store with more of my pet parent friends!

I realized years ago that mass market food brands were likely akin to fast food. So, I did some very topical reading online and decided to get a more expensive grain free food from an online retailer. Fast forward a couple years and I see my pets experiencing persistent allergies and other health maladies. I've considered upgrading to a healthier food after countless commercials on XM radio but every time I went to a website I was left confused about how to proceed. A friend referred me to Heartland Paws claiming that his cats fur was notably softer after just a couple weeks on a new healthier diet that the owner recommended. I'm happy to say that I made a visit to Heartland Paws and I'm so glad I did. The owner took the time to review my pets eating history and correlated that to my explanation of symptoms that my dog and cat had been experiencing. He explained how the food was made, the freshness of the meat, the cooking temperature, and what that does to the nutritional value, and a plan for transitioning my pet to a new healthier diet. Following the suggested plan, my pets are going crazy for this new food. The best part is that it is only marginally more expensive than my previous uneducated diet plan. If it has the promised long term effects of reducing vet visits then this new path forward is a no brainer. I wish I had visited Heartland Paws much sooner, but I am grateful to be taking steps to improve the health and wellbeing of my pets while I still can. Any future pets will undoubtedly be fed "right" from the start, thanks to what I've learned. Definitely go talk to Heartland Paws about your pets diet and see for yourself!

Their staff is always super friendly and knowledgeable about all the products AND the fish/aquatic life they sell. This is important as many of the chain stores have little knowledge about the animals they sell and it results in the fish dying without proper care. 2. They have a great selection of high quality products for tanks, if you have questions about the products they can always answer them for you and figure out what would be best for your tank. 3. It is ALWAYS clean, the floors are clean, the tanks are clean, it smells like an aquatic store but it doesn't smell bad. This is important for the overall well being of the animals! I highly recommend coming here for your aquatic needs!

We had recently become betta fish parents and we want to learn how to be the best parents we can! Our Betta is about two months in at our home and we had started getting a real algae problem. Some of our plants started to get weird and junk so we pulled them out. We were geared up to get some new plants, a siphon tool to help us clean and change out the water, and of course learn more about how we can maintain a great aquarium for our fish. We happened to be off the same day so we made the trek over to Rivers and Reefs! Walking in was as if you were walking into the most intentional fish store I've experienced. The tanks were of differing sizes with various fish, plants, and decor inside the tank for the fish communities. There were salt water fish and fresh water fish. I loved seeing the crates beneath the aquariums with various rocks, driftwood, wood, and other aquarium decor we can purchase. Each crate was easily marked with the price per pound. I also loved that they had a few betta fish in large tanks with plants and other fish. The bettas looked happy and big!! It was such a nice thing to see after seeing so many bettas looking sad in those small cups at other pet stores. We were greeted by the employees there in a timely manner and one of them came over to help us as we decided what algae eater we should get and what plants would be good to add to our aquarium. The employee was incredibly friendly and helpful. She was patient with our questions and seemed very knowledgeable. We decided on a small clown pleco to add to our aquarium and a few plants that will hopefully take nicely and continue to grow. Once we got home we got to changing the water and getting it pretty clean. We got our pleco acclimated and now he's been cruising down below while Betta keeps enjoying his tank! We know we will definitely keep coming back to this store for all of our fish and aquarium needs. It felt less intimidating than other stores and the staff is incredibly helpful!
