I come from a family that is VERY passionate about untoward breeding practices. I did so so SO much research before purchasing our little mini Aussie from Tullys. I do not understand the negative experiences on here. This is not a puppy mill. Not in any way shape or form. I grew up with mini doxies and got both from a "reputable" breeder in MI. My first died of megaesophagus and my second died of epilepsy. Both were determined to be genetic abnormalities. I don't have the experience necessary to understand how to know when a breeder is a GOOD breeder, so I talked to the team here at length. Every single person who helped was so incredibly kind and helpful. The puppies are all clean and yes in cages but this is only during playtime and so they don't have to lay around in their mess. I recently recommended Downtown Hound as a boarding facility for someone looking for a place to take their dogs while on vacation. I was met with backlash in regards to not supporting a business owned by Tullys. Instead of arguing with someone I do not know online I thought it would be more beneficial to write a review. I received my bachelors in behavioral neuroscience at UNO where I conducted research on puppy mills as well as puppy mill dogs & Tully's is NOT a puppy mill. They are simply a catalyst from breeder to buyer. The breeders are reputable and the female mothers are not over bred. I'd give it 2-3 stars. Many people I told about getting my puppy from Tully's told me it's a puppy mill. So, I'm not just taking one persons side. That being said, on the surface, everybody was pretty good to deal with. My puppy (after 4 months) is healthy and a great puppy. My issue is with the financing. I could have paid for him up front. But I applied for the financing online thru a link Tully's provided to easypay financing. The person at the front counter talked in "monthly" payments. Yet I get charged every two weeks. The person at the counter made it seem like if I made the stated payments on time that it would pay the loan off within the 90 days "interest free" promo. No where close. I'll end up paying double the cost at 168% interest. Yes. 168%. Guido with the mob has better interest rates!! My first two payments only went towards the interest. Nothing towards the principle. Now I come to find out that Tully's benefits financially by people using easypay. Which is prob why I was mislead at the time of purchase. If they truly are a puppy mill, I'm not sure I'll return. But I definitely won't as long as they use this finance company, whether I finance or not. I'm prob going to stop payments and take my chances if they choose to litigate. With all the negative reviews I have read on here about Tully's I had to say that I have purchased 3 dogs from this facility and have had nothing but a positive experience. I bought 2 Pugs in the early 2000's which have passed on due to age, and I still have my American Eskimo who is now 14 years old. None of my dogs have ever been ill, did not come home from this facility ill and have been nothing but a blessing to me and my family. For those who want to complain about the "smell" or puppies in cages - I guess you have never been to a kennel before. Puppies go to the bathroom and it is ridiculous to think that they should have puppies just running around an open warehouse - they rotate the puppies often and they get to go to a "play area". They also are not high pressure to sell you anything - when I have gone there, I have made a few visits and played with different puppies for literally hours before finally making a choice IF I even made one. Not every puppy is a match to every personality. Reading through some of the reviews, I get a sense some of these people didn't even visit Tully's, they just want to bash any sort of purebred business that is selling puppies. If you want to get a dog from the humane society (where they keep them in cages and it smells there too!) go for it - but, most times, all the humane society has is pit bulls (whom are lovely, I used to breed them) or other large dogs. I do not care to buy an insurance policy required by the city due to having a dog that is deemed dangerous. I also am one who can only handle a small to medium sized dog as I am older. I would return to Tully's to see if they had any puppies that I would want to make a part of my family when my current American Eskimo passes away - she is getting up there in age. read more

I see a lot of reviews that are super old, so here is an update for anyone interested in buying a puppy. This place is huge, and they have a big selection! The dogs are very well priced. All the puppies seemed healthy and they were being rotated between inside and outside. The employees working there (especially the young man who helped us with our puppy) really care about the animals. The place was really clean and I saw the pads being changed out frequently while I was there (about an hour visit). We adopted a puppy on Saturday. He only went available that morning. We were beyond happy and loved him so much. He was well mannered, always by our sides so he didn't even need a leash, didn't have problems with any dog or human. He was perfect. Last night, we found out he had a serious virus. Possibly deadly. He was in the ER all night. Tully's was amazing and so concerned. We couldn't afford the treatment needed, which wasn't guaranteed to do anything anyways. The manager and employee working processed a refund for us, including for the supplies and food we purchased and the ER bills. They let us bring him in and took him to a special room to keep him separate from the other puppies to make sure all of them were okay. When we left, they had their own vet on the way to look at him and help with the treatment plan. I really hope he doesn't have to be put down, because he was such a good boy and doesn't deserve the pain he's in. I appreciate how Tully's handled the situation and had no questions on how to help us- they even offered to call us with any updates they have on him. If he's successfully treated, even though he's not ours, I appreciate being able to knows he's okay. My parents adopted two puppies- brother and sister- from Tully's 9 years ago and they're doing incredible- albeit incredibly dumb. We bought Huey (our two year old English bulldog) from a breeder elsewhere a few years ago but have been thinking about adding another puppy to our family for a while. We talked to our vet (Mobile Animal Clinic) and asked if Tully's was a good place to get a pet. We've had experiences with puppy mill Bulldogs before and did not want to go through that again. He said that he was the vet for Tully's and personally checks out each of the puppies before they are ready to be sold. We have been going to Mobile for 17 years with our pets so that pretty much sealed the deal. We picked up one of their English bullies last week and we adore her and she is healthy and great. They offer 10 days of free vet care and will pay for any surgery your dog needs if there is a problem up to the price of the dog. The only thing I will say is that the staff doesn't have the best communication. We were told on Tuesday that she would be available on Wednesday. We then went in on Wednesday and were told she was not yet available. We were met with confusion when we mentioned that we were told that they were supposed to be ready to go. (Confusing sentence ) and they didn't seem very apologetic that we made the trip under false pretense but oh well. They finally called us Thursday evening and told us she was available and we brought her home. read more

Every time I have gone to Tully's it has not been a good experience. The staff are always rude and never seem like they actually want to be there. When I have asked them questions they seem like it's a burden for them to answer. A couple years ago we found a shih tzu puppy we fell in love with, but she wasn't ready to go home yet. They told us they would call us when she was ready, but that never happened and she got adopted. However, that was a blessing in disguise because I would never adopt from here. These poor puppies are not treated right by employees and come from puppy mills. Look up worst puppy mills online and Tully's gets their puppies from some of the worst ones, and many others it was an extensive list. They say it's not a puppy mill and try and defend themselves but there is documented proof that it is. Glad we never got the call back about the puppy and got a dog elsewhere. read more

The puppies all deserve 5 stars because of how cute they are but the staff on the other hand really disappoints. The puppies need more entertainment and attention. Last time I was there I went to see a very excited puppy and ended up leaving with bleeding cuts all over my hands and now that my hand is healed I have scars to forever remember that day. I don't blame the dog for what happened I blame the lack of care for the puppies who need more entertainment. After the incident I told the staff member what happened (while showing her my bleeding hand) and she just walked away to put a sign on the outdoor cage that the dog was in and came back and stared at me and said in a very snarky voice "what? do you need a bandaid or something?". I was very upset and in ample pain and that's all they said to me when it happened. They are very lucky that it happened to me and not someone's child. I have been visiting tully's for years and I have never had any issues, but again when I visited today the staff still gave me issues. As I walked up to a crate a staff member kicked the crate to wake the dogs up. I was very upset at this and do not agree with this practice. I also saw several staff members tip crates on their sides with puppies in them to replace the pans from underneath the crate. I really used to enjoy visiting Tully's and was thinking about leaving with a puppy today, but I ended up leaving broken-hearted from the treatment of the animals by the staff. I really hope something changes and that the puppies are all being treated fairly when visitors are not around. read more

At year five she could no longer walk and had to be put down. the experience was heartbreaking. i have since come to know that their dogs are purchased from puppy mills. When I was 4 I got my little shiz-tzu poodle from here. She was loved and had a great home for 14 years. Finally starting to heal from her death and started looking at places again to get a new puppy. Tully's came to mind first. Walked in and the staff was super helpful and very attentive towards the puppy's. One went to the bathroom and within 3 minutes it was taken care of and there were in a clean cage again. Many people want to call this place a puppy mill. It's not. The people there care about their animals and won't let them go without the animal being healthy and on the right track for a successful long life. Tully's Kennel seems to have a bad reputation, so I was a little nervous about coming here at first. When I saw on their ad that they're selling a bunch of puppies, the first words that came to my mind were "puppy mill." Once I got there, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the puppies seemed to be very happy and healthy. It was very open and clean. I didn't smell an unpleasant odor at all and I saw multiple workers going through and cleaning the cages. The worker that I specifically spoke to was very knowledgeable about their puppies and their history. She knows all about dogs and temperament and many other things regarding puppies. I was curious to know where they get their puppies from, so I asked and she said that they get their puppies from licensed breeders and that their puppies are AKC registered. It worries me that maybe that isn't the truth because of the reviews I have read, but being there in person, I don't have a reason to doubt what she told me. They all seemed very healthy; also, she had said that there is a 4 year health guarantee. I believe that if these were puppy mill puppies, they wouldn't be so willing to guarantee their health. Another nice thing about Tully's Kennel is that they have a great variety of breeds. When I went, they had German shepherds, Great Danes, Great Pyrenees, mini schnauzers, American eskimos, a husky, and many more. If you are looking for a specific breed that they don't have, they also have a sheet that you can fill out with your information so that they can call you if they get any. Based off of my experience, I would recommend Tully's Kennel to a friend looking to adopt a puppy. Great puppies, great workers, and a great environment. read more

I purchased a lovely Corgi puppy from them about a month ago. The financing company of course had an APR of 198% (bad credit what can I say) but my puppy has been doing very well! She had no issues besides a tummy issue which Tullys footed the bill for a vet visit for a simple problem. She had every vaccination she needed before I bought her. I've heard a lot of bad things about the place, but when I and my girlfriend showed up I saw no issues at all at the time. Kennels were clean, staff was polite and nice and friendly with the puppies and my puppy was happy to not only be there, but happy to leave as well. They fed her a very good brand of dog food which she has continued to eat ever since and to dodge the APR, I paid her off in less than two months (three months same as cash). I appreciate how well she turned out to be and it seemed as if she was already trained in many different things including potty training. A little over 4 years ago. My in laws were looking for a Cocker Spaniel puppy to raise. My Wife found info about a male and female pup, and my in laws purchased a female Buff Cocker Spaniel Puppy. She has just turned 4 years old in November and has been a great edition to the family. So much personality, so much energy, and nothing but great things to say about Tully's. I purchased a puppy through tullys kennel around October of 2022. I took her to her first vets wellness visit and immediately scheduled a spay with the vet whom they referred me to. When purchasing the dog they tell you that all congenital defects are covered by tullys, that was a lie. Upon her spay it was discovered that she was a hermaphrodite. She had male and female reproductive organs. Clearly the puppy has something off. The vet contacted tullys and tullys basically said they could do nothing. Fast forward a few weeks after the spay/neuter the puppy has a spontaneous seizure. Took the puppy to an emergency vet at 1 am and was told she has to be seen by a specialist and that her genetic makeup obviously has something wrong. Contacted tullys telling them she needs to be seen by a neurologist and something is clearly wrong and they said there was nothing they could do. My dog is now almost 6 months old and suffers from seizures weekly. read more

I got a 13 week old Bernese mountain dog puppy about a month ago from here. For people wondering she was $1,100. She had a small umbilical hernia. I have not had any issues with her being sick. I took her to the free vet check up but they didn't really do much. The vet just QUICKLY looked at her, gave me a run down of owning a puppy, and I was out the door. So I now take her to council bluffs vet (which I now love!). While there I learned that my puppy was given her shots too early resulting in questionable effectiveness. So I had to get another round of shots to be on the safe side. The staff of Tully's were hit or miss. When I asked for more info about the hernia and what to expect, the guy looked at me like I was stupid and said "it's a hernia". Everyone else there was very friendly and helpful though! I never received the CKC papers I was told to expect. I wouldn't say it's the best conditions but it could be much worse. There were dog runs where you could freely enter to play with larger puppies and what I assume is puppies in rotation. And be careful if you go there for puppy cuteness! I am so incedibly disappointed, frustred, shocked and truly disgusted with Tully's Kennels! I called this afternoon to see if My Fat Boy had been cremated because I really wanted to bring him home. The lady told me that they were already in the car for tomorrow. In shock, I asked why he was in a hot car and if she would take him out so I could come get him. She then told me that yesterday her boss Julie took them in her car so it would be easier to take them and drop the at the vets office Tuesday. REALLY?! How unprofessional and horrible! This is a part of my family we are talking about!! He was everythng to me and for your convenience you put him in a hot car for how long? Because reviewing on Google isn't enough... My boyfriend and I love Tully's Kennels. We live in Lincoln, but when we do go to Omaha, we have to stop by! On our first visit, I fell in love with my Papillon puppy now named Yuna. We didn't take her home with us the first visit, but no matter where I looked, my heart went back to her. We have tried the humane societies, no kill shelters, and rescues to no avail. I have gotten unfriendly responses, no responses, or interest in telling me about fees and then dropping off the face of the earth. At Tully's, just visiting them once and meeting some of the employees made me feel secure. They know the puppies by personality and can tell them all apart. The workers are friendly, but also respect your decisions. They don't push you in any way and actually try to help you to the best of their abilities. Because of their excellent service, health guarantees, and me actually being able to visit their store, we made our decision. A few days after thinking it through, we drove over to Omaha to bring Yuna home with us. There has not been a day that has gone by that my life hasn't been changed for the better by her. Yes, puppies are lots of work, but they undoubtedly brighten our lives. I know some of you may be alarmed by the negative reviews, but give Tully's Kennels a shot! You can't knock it til you try it! I was quite worried about visiting because of the reviews and what I have heard, but you can take it from me. Here are a few things I'd like to say: First and foremost, Tully's Kennels is NOT a puppy mill. Second, the employees genuinely care for each puppy and want to make sure they go to a good home. They obviously love what they do too and want to make sure you are 100% satisfied. They have health guarantees, a 10 day money back guarantee... There are places that don't even give you a health guarantee!!! That's what we should be angry about. My puppy had a free vet visit and I got reimbursed for a deworming fee. Before you folks get freaked out about our baby having worms, worms can be transferred from the mom to the pup through her breastmilk. If at any time in her life the mom had worms, the parasites target the pups in utero and also the milk ducts. Tully's also deworms puppies for precaution which is the responsible thing to do. A bit close to the 10-day mark, I got a call from an employee who wanted to know how we were doing. She remembered I couldn't pick out a name at the time and wanted to know if I had a name yet and how my puppy was faring. That's truly building relationships with customers. Third, Tully's does give you the sire and dam of the puppy. Just ask. It was on my puppies papers. Apparently Yuna is from Iowa! Fourth, their prices aren't cheap, but they are certainly reasonable. Where have you ever seen a purebred or designer puppy for 500 or less with a free vet visit, discounted services, health guarantees, and a 10-day money back guarantee? Dream on. You get a deal for what you pay for! I was speaking to a few breeders who charge 1000+ and only give 1 year health guarantee. I only paid roughly $700 for Yuna and can't imagine living without her (not to mention how amazing the guarantees are at Tully's) Fifth, they aren't going to smell like roses at the kennels... Pups have to potty. It's not like they don't clean after them though. I was impressed by how clean the place was. They do have wired kennels, but they put containers inside for the dogs to sleep or sit in comfortably. Lastly, just give them a shot. I can't imagine what would have happened if we let the reviews turn us away. I probably would still be looking for my furry best friend. Thank you again, Tully's. We'll be back to visit soon. I am so happy to hear Yuna's brothers also found their forever homes! The one thing I would like to know is what happens to a puppy if a puppy can't find a home. Other than that, I know for a fact that Tully's is a wonderful place. They have a vet come in to take care of the puppies and to give them their shots and treatments if necessary and that means the world to me. Some of these things we would think to be common sense isn't as common as you would think. My family and I have been planning to get a dog. I'd love to adopt a dog at the humane society except we have a child at home. The thing is, they dont always have puppies available. I was so desperate so then I found TULLY's. They have puppies available posted online and read something about 10 day puppy trial. See, that's not the reason I gave this review a five star. 1) You can come in and play with their puppies and leave without feeling the pressure of buying anything at all.(You are not forced to buy a pup or no salestalk involve) 2) They would get to know you and your family and be able to help you match with the right pup. 3) I visited twice and the staff are friendly and answer whatever questions you may have. 4) They never stop cleaning the facility and always change the pads/tray when we visit. Despite the poor ratings, I believe Tully's are doing their best to care for their animals. I dont see anything wrong or maltreatment whatsoever during our two visits. The pups seem happy and full of enery! We haven't bought a dog yet because we are still trying to figure out which is perfect for us. Definitely coming back here!! read more

Hey Tom " The Operations Man" lets dissect your response to my review- 1. "The term "puppy mill" has no real or consistent definition in our industry." said Tom Westman. I love how you mislead us by saying "in our industry". Lets use Merriam and Webster Dictionary definition as they are the leading authority of definitions. Merriam and Webster Definition of puppy mill : a commercial farming operation in which purebred dogs are raised in large numbers and often in substandard or poor conditions. The public has overwhelming proof that you purchase puppies from breeders defined as a puppy mill. Here is just a few of your "licensed, ethical and quality breeders"- 1. Kevin and Lindy Aschinger, K&L Kennels- Westside Iowa, 43 breeding adults, down from over 250. They were listed as a 2016 Horrible Hundred Puppy Mill and have a history of violations including: No vet care, rusted cages, build up of feces, hair, dirt. Cat carcass near cages, admitted that fecal matter "had not been removed in four days", damaged water buckets ... Auctioned off all their dogs in 2015, then bought more and STILL has horrid violations. 2. Daniel and Victoria Kuehne, Reading Minnesota- . 320 adult breeding dogs and 230 puppies on their property. They also have a long history of violations including: poor ventilation and strong odor in their facility (the inspector was having a hard time breathing during their inspection); the dogs and some of the puppies were in kennels that were too small for their bodies; there was excessive feces noted, as well as cobwebs and other dirt; a presence of rodents; and the list goes on and on. 3. Scott Wheatcraft- Browning Missouri, 126 breeding adults. Has a history of violations including using expired medications. 4. Patrick Fulton- Alden Minnesota, dog broker. Changed names and USDA licensee count in 2010. Ships puppies to pet stores all over the country. 5. Nancy Ogle, Irene South Dakota- 51 adult breeding dogs (down from 85) and close to 100 puppies on site, with a history of violations including: missed inspections, filthy kennel conditions, dogs in need of veterinary care, dogs with eye issues, dogs with dental disease, and excessive brown grime in kennels. Ogle was named one of the worst puppy mills in the country in 2017 "It is very easy for you to disparage our breeders by calling them Puppy Mills and lump all commercial breeders into the "abuse" category". Said Tom W. It's very easy for you as the "operations man" to mislead, false advertise and flat out lie as you are married to the owner of the "Tully's puppy mill supplier". You got to keep that "gravy train" rolling. With out the wife you have no job. "If there are breeders that are in violation of current regulations, report them. If there are procedures that commercial breeders use that you do not like, work to change the regulations." said Tom W. WHY DON"T YOU do this as a 'responsible business owner' of a pet store? I would think as "we treat the puppies like our own" you would be fighting tooth and nail to stop bad breeders. Yet you continue to purchase puppies from them, keep them in business and keep defending them. I can't stop puppy mills by myself but I can sure make the public aware of Tully's role and treatment of animals. I have dealt with Tully's for years, mostly through boarding my dogs. The dogs are always well cared-for when I pick them up. One of my dogs was insanely resistant to having her nails trimmed. The Tully's groomer just picked her up, clipped them, and it was over. The dog didn't even know she was suffering. lol I have also taken several pets to Tully's for cremation. They are always respectful and caring. I'd recommend Tully's for any of their services. read more
