Horrible establishment. The girl working was incredibly rude i was genuinely shocked. I asked to see a puppy and she said you have to be 21 and looking to adopt. I said I've adopted a dog from the humane society and was looking to adopt another. (I'm 20, fully living on my own, have a job). I questioned her about being 21 (because i've never heard you had to be 21 to adopt a dog??) and she came at me like i was an idiot and said "well you do here" like what? These puppies are trapped in glass cages and cared for horribly. Even if a person wasn't looking to adopt, they should let them have playtime for their mental health! I will not be buying an animal from them again...be forewarned that they FORCE you to by an expensive bag of food with the animal... claiming the animal will starve if they don't "recognize" the food. I've had finches before and never had that problem. I sell registered Pekingese dogs and have NEVER charged extra for a bag of food; a free bag & can goes home with each one. I can believe this place is still open. Dogs in tiny boxes rolling in poop, even large breeds. No food, no water. Yes, I saw their water bottles empty smashed and they became the puppies only toys. An employee said they have no being our toys bc they can choke, and they smell awful bc they get into their poop it happens to all dogs. Hmmmm... I've been to pet smart our petco when they have puppies. They have food, water, breeds, and toys but whatever. When you buy from puppy mills I guess you don't care anyway. Way over priced $1000 for a huskie that was about 3-4 months old. Birds feathers were missing, bird poop everywhere. Two bball pythons were curled up in their water bowl. Me and my daughters went into this establishment to try to get a puppy for my husband for his birthday. The lady at the front desk refused service to my two daughters because they were under 21. Then a bird proceeded to squawk as loud as it could, and my daughters had their phones out because they were taking pictures of the puppies. And they just so happened to get a video of the bird squawking and the worker yelled at my daughter's and told them to stop being disrespectful because they were filming a bird. I would give this place -100 stars. They had terrible customer service and they were very disrespectful to everyone. I would not recommend this place because they keep their dogs in little tiny cages. They also treat their customers like sh*t. read more

I just got a new puppy and the staff have been super helpful. Kelly has been kind to answer all of my questions and to help me get a kennel the right size. I came back and Dave helped me find the right fit for a harness. A third time Kelly's daughter was working and eased my mind about my puppy being in a kennel. I've had several pets over many years from dogs, to cats, to lizards. The attention and care that I receive from this pet store has always been and continues to be wonderful. Going to this establishment, always raises my concern of the pet breeding and buying industry. My heart aches for their large birds, such as parrots and cockatiels. The only time you see feather pulling is in human care. This place really needs to learn about ethics. Yes it is fun seeing the animals, but overall knowing how much they are truly suffering is not worth going. These exotic animals should not be in their care. I never buy anything from them just occasionally stop by mostly to check in and every time I am very disappointed. Especially with their cockatiel that bird is so intelligent and sweet and my heart aches to see how mistreated it is. When I say mistreated, I do not mean how the staff doesn't love this bird. It's with the small enclosure. Lack of stimulus and overall space. This goes for their large tortoises as well. I just really wish these businesses didn't have such animals. read more

Bought a hamster who showed signs of wet tail within 24 hours and died shortly after. When I returned, I was told 'all hamsters get wet tail,' which is inaccurate, and the staff member was dismissive, extremely rude, and unprofessional. I witnessed this lady speak to a group of young ladies in a very derogatory manner when the matter was clearly a misunderstanding and could have been dealt with differently. On top of that, on a different occasion I saw a bird hopping along the ground that almost got stepped on. If I could give this place negative stars I would. The condition that they keep their animals in is absolutely heartbreaking. Puppies are in tiny glass cages alone with tiny holes in the back for air. They slam themselves into the glass wanting to get out of the small space and play with you. I had absolutely no idea what Pets-R-Us was until I went inside with my friend. We were so sad seeing all of the sad animals. The bunnies and birds are in overfilled cages. I wish I could save all of these animals that seem to be neglected. I wish that this place didn't exist and hope that it is shut down one day. read more

This store needs to stop selling animals, ask them where they came from and they will tell you local breeders. Not true, these dogs are from puppy mills. The animals in their cages were in horrible condition, and the puppies were in clear distress and pawing at the top and sides of their cages to be let out. I genuinely thought one of the hamsters was dead, as there were flies buzzing around it. There was almost no product outside of the animals in the store. Avoid this place at all costs and do not support this store or buy any animals here! read more

I was in the store today just walking around as I was looking at the puppies I could hear a man yelling in the back at a barking puppy "can't you just shut up" "why do you keep biting ugh" seemed very obviously irritated. Cruel, depressing, and should be shut down. They have what would be beautiful macaws and Congo greys who are the saddest looking birds I've ever seen. Some with tail feathers almost completely missing down to the nub or totally damaged and unhealthy. One Congo grey had a sign posted not to feed millets as it was having dietary issues but all that was available for food for it was millets - no pellets, fruit, veggies, or even WATER. This was the case for all of their big birds. These beautiful birds are so intelligent and can live upwards of 50 years. It is heartbreaking they are forced into this situation and I encourage everyone to please report this place. Every interaction I have had with Pets-R-Us over the years has made me dislike them more and more. I tried to use them only in emergencies for items needed for our parrots but over the years I have seen horribly sick and injured animals, an increasingly disgusting/dirty store environment, incredibly rude and shady employees, and an all around just negative business. Underweight and depressed dogs with paws being injured by crate bottoms. Parrots being improperly housed and raised. A whole list of shocking stupidity they do in store. I tried to give them another chance recently in hopes they had changed with public pressure but they haven't and now seem more open about their use of puppy mills/forced breeding and general shady things. My only suggestion to people who are thinking about shopping here... STAY AWAY! read more

I'll give them 2 stars because little Rosie and George are the loves of my life. However I paid a small fortune for each of them. George is a Quaker parrot and Rosie is a chihuahua. They told me she is purebred but I knew she wasn't but I couldn't leave here there. I took George in for a spa day, feather clip and nail trim. Dave acted like I was inconveniencing him even though I had called to make sure there was time. He cut George's nails so short he bled for about 30 min. Birds don't have much blood to begin with. Possible male owner or manager not wearing a mask and was coughing with minimal coverage. Not a safe place during a pandemic. Ok selection of products but like I said previously too overpriced. Not very sanitary either with many animal messes clearly left for a time without being cleaned. Obviously the employees do not care about public safety. We feel naive that we didn't do our research on this place before purchasing...puppy mill place. However, we do feel we saved our fur baby by getting him out of that environment. The dog started at $3k when they first had him and eventually came down to $2k. I read every review days too late and only because I ran across Yelp when searching for the company's address. THAT's when I read all of the sad, sad reviews. In the first week and a half, have had our puppy to the vet three times for different issues, two being kennel cough (that has also been given to our other dog) and the other is giardia (yep! from stale water out of a hamster water bottle that hangs on the side of the dog's cage!!!) I recently got a rabbit from here. The bunny himself is the sweetest guy I could've ever hoped for. I've only had him for a week but he's been sneezing since we brought him home. Turns out he has an upper respiratory infection, mites and is covered in "battle scars" as my vet put it nicely. She told me all of these things came from the pet shop and asked why I would buy him from a pet store? I told her we initially went in for fish supplies (which were a limited selection) and as one does we went to look at the small animals. They had about 10 bunnies in a tiny enclosure and the bunny we saved from there is hardly 2 pounds. They had full grown rabbits in with their 2 month old babies and being the smallest he was roughed up quite a bit. The person who helped us was nice, I'm just upset they're not watching for health problems before they sell bunnies $300 a pop. read more

Don't EVER buy from this place. They are crooks!!! I bought a darling little pup two years ago. Paid a fortune for him. As time went on, he started biting out of nowhere, breaking the skin. I had to surrender him because of the excessive amounts of bites he gave. He ended up being euthanized because we didn't want anyone else to endure the trauma that I personally experienced. After surrendering him, I contacted Bailing out Benji. They were able to tell me EXACTLY what puppy mill he came from. The owner buys from puppy mills and unregulated breeders. When I spoke to the owner about this, he denied buying from puppy mills and refused to tell me where he got my pup from. Yet, Bailing out Benji was able to tell me exactly where he came from (by the little info that I was able to give to them about the breeders "vague" name.) The workers are terrible people. They are rude and the animals aren't taken care of. All the dogs look sad and are stuck in glass boxes alone. They are also ranged for 2k+. I never knew this store was even here until I stumbled upon in a few weeks ago , nice size , have a bit of everything but ohh the dogs :( . The cages are small and they look so very sad , did see a food bowl but none for water . Some of the dogs were playing worth plastic water bottles or just laying there looking miserable. Clearly some were too big for the cages . I've heard these dogs come from puppy mills but no proof in that . Really wish they were in there as some of them looked like they have giving up on getting a home , don't know why it hit me hard seeing them. We took out dog in for a spaying. She was fine and we paid. Took here back for taking out stitches, we paid another $35.00. Okay there were 2 stitches left that they said would dissolve. 2 did not dissolve so we had to take her back again. They wanted to charge us another $45.00. Wish I could rate this business 0 stars. First of all I have been coming into this store for years and the dogs are always covered in their own feces, looking depressed, and often malnourished. Upon my recent visit to check on the animals I noticed they were breeding parrots and had NO heat lamps. Parrots that were just days old were alone in empty tanks with no heater in sight. Last year my mom and I decided to buy a black and white Chihuahua puppy from here. We spent upwards of $1000. They sent us home with the puppy telling us that it passed all vet standards but told us we had to put honey in its water because it had low blood sugar. Two days later, it didn't even have enough energy to be fed out of a bottle with a nipple cap. I had to bring it to the vet because I was worried as to why he kept falling asleep and couldn't eat and would vomit on itself at times. 45 minutes after we arrived at the vet the puppy died. Heartbroken and upset we called the store. The only thing they had the heart to do was give us $500 back...IN STORE CREDIT. This place sold us a sick puppy and lied about it, and then only gave us half of our money in which we could only give right back to them. Ridiculous. This is merely a store who buys their animals from puppy mills. When I asked where their dogs came from, I got some rhetoric about USDA approved sellers. PLEASE. The rescue groups have wonderful dogs to adopt. Buying from stores that sell puppy mill puppies just perpetuates the business of puppy mills existing ... and the horrible environment that the mother dogs live in. Selling dogs in stores is an outdated practice and should be illegal (as it has become in other states and cities). It's not the cute puppies in the store that is evil (although those young dogs kept in cages is pretty evil) but it's the poor mother dogs kept in cages and just used to be bred for another litter. When they become too old to produce puppies, they are euthanized. Stay away from this store. I felt sick when I left. read more
