I'm a police officer and so is my boyfriend and we will do anything to get this placed shut down. After our visit today I was horrified. I could give it 0 rating I would. All the animals there were physically distraught especially the cockatoo. Birds tend to pluck their feathers when they are stressed and the environment made me physically sick seeing the bird bleeding. Water, if any, was brown and covered in poop, first, bedding, etc. Puppies in the back were kept in areas sometimes too small for them And without space to move around much and would lie in their piss and shit. Most didn't even have food. They were drinking from basically hamster water bottles. Rabbits and the other animals thatNEED hay did not have any. As a rabbit owner I wanted to puke to see the environment they lived in along with all the other animals. I'm a police officer and I will do anything to get this placed shut down. read more

Walked in recently to look at a pup i saw online. Was handed a tiny pup that didnt look old enough yo be away from its mother. Was told animal was 9 weeks but it did not look it. They yold me pup was $3,800. Turned puppy over and saw it had a clear case of ringworm. Asked about it and lady said they had never noticed that and they would have a vet look at it. I handed dog back as i balked at the price and condition of the dog. They told me they didnt really sell anything less than $1500. I asked why and she stated it was because everyone wants one in a pandemic and that they were one of only places selling puppies (they are not) in a pandemic. They tried to push payment plan which i font need. I can afford a pet just fine just not $3,800 for a sick puppy. Stay away from this place as many rescues have available healthy animals at way more reasonable prices. Also, no masks were being warn by any staff. read more

Smaller pet stores these days dont usually have puppies for display, but Pets-r-us has about 10 different breeds and many puppies for sale most days. Examples of breeds are: Goldendoodles, Huskies, German Shepard, Shitzu, Poms, Chihuahua, English Bull dog, Yorkies, Aussie Doodles, Terriers of various breeds etc. I've heard whisperings about this being a front for puppy mills...all I can say is I hope not. The staff was friendly and let us visit with some of the puppies we were interested in purchasing. They also have bunnies, Chinchillas, guinea pigs, and small reptiles and bird varieties. read more

I've been coming to this petstore for years. I love that they ineract and socialize all their anumals so much. I'd much rather purchase an animal from them than another petstore, because i know i will hey a quality pet. I will often stop in just to see the animals and play with them. I went to this pet shop and couldn't believe all the dogs they had. Especially no food and drinking out of a hamster water bottle. They all look so sad. I recently visited Pets R Us to buy a pet rat for my kids - and I was aware of all the negative reviews on Yelp before I went. When I went into the store I was amazed... at how wildly inaccurate all those reviews are. They are obviously fake or exaggerated. Sure, dogs poop. Sometimes I bet customers see poop. Sure, everyone hates to see dogs in cages - that doesn't mean lie and say that they keep them in cardboard boxes. I did not see a single piece of feces in a single cage. Every dog looks happy and healthy. I was greeted with smiles and my questions were knowledgeably answered. The store was clean. I am certain everyone reading these reviews can understand why activist groups or "quick to judge" people would flock to yelp to try to crush a business who keeps puppies in cages. Last year I saw a shih- tzu at pets r us. They wanted $2000.00 for him as he had a elongated palate. All this brothers & sisters went for $3000.00. Today I went saw a shih-tzu same colors as last years.( must be using the same puppy mill) I listened to her breathing, same as last years puppy. Now the price is 4000.00. Went in and asked about a job but got a very rude response and dismissed quickly. I walked around the store and noticed the reptiles are NOT on proper substrate! The little bearded dragons shouldn't be on what looked like wood shards for one, and who sells puppies anymore?! Yes they are cute and adorable but I can't help but wonder where they get these dogs from. Puppy mills are popular with pet stores so I can only imagine how bad these poor pups are. You should be encouraging adoption not shopping for dogs. Especially if your a pet store! I walked in with my family,the store was very compact not much walking space. When birds are stressed they pick there feathers off. The cockatoo feathers were very well picked off. Then the parrot while either the owner or employee was trying to get it back in its cage he went to smack the parrot then to get it back in it's cage he grabbed it by it's neck. Stopped in tonight. One of the puppies had horrible tear stains on his poor face. Most of the puppies look extremely underfed. They have a cockatoo, Rex, that should not be around a bunch of people. The poor bird is picking his feathers off from stress. I feel terrible for that poor bird. Their products are extremely overpriced, including the animals. The staff is rude. I have never seen one person wear masks in there, even when there was a mandate. Just not a good business. They definitely do not care about the animals, just the money. read more

Hands down the dirtiest, most incredible joke of a "pet store" i've ever been in. I will tell you right now that they don't care about the welfare of the animals they sell or care much for their customers, either. - About 25-30 rats of all ages and sizes, male and female, housed together in a twenty gallon aquarium(!) that is only about 8 inches tall. NO other pet store I've ever been to houses males and females together, blatantly allowing for them to become impregnated, and if they do, they keep their feeder rats in the back and don't do it in the public eye. -Mice were housed the same. Saw a few of them munching on a dead one. -Betta fish were in brown, slimy water, the dirtiest I've EVER seen, let alone at a pet store, where it is their JOB to care for pets. -Puppies had no food (puppies should be allowed to feed freely), two different ones were sleeping in metal food dishes, as they had no beds. Saw no toy in most cages. Chihuahuas had extremely goopy eyes and peeling toenails. Huskies were the youngest I had ever seen available at a pet store. *** There were only two employees working the entire store, which was obviously NOT ENOUGH STAFF, as the upkeep is failing miserably even in such a small store, and neither of them said a word to my family as we came, walked around for a good fifteen minutes, and left. They claim to be "the only store worldwide" (says the sign on the door) to sell Cesar Milan Dog Whisperer treats. If Cesar Milan ever walked into this miserable little pet store, he would DIE. I would give this a zero but unfortunately it won't let me.Four days ago I got my sweet baby leopard gecko Arlow Greene.As a new leopard gecko mom I was new to handling them but the second I walked in I knew it was wrong to have a grown leopard gecko in the same size enclosure as two baby leopard geckos that were together in the same enclosure.Now that I know what I do now the two shouldn't have even been put together in the first place.As I was shopping for supplies for my new leopard gecko I asked them if the cage him and the other leopard gecko were in now was safe to get for them and they immediately said no we just put them in what is available explaining that it should be much much larger than the one they had.I took my gecko home to immediately notice that he wasn't eating his mealworms.I panicked and called them to ask what to do and they decided to blame it on me and put me at fault. I rushed to the store to get crickets for him to try and he also refused.Four days after taking him home I took him to the vet to find out he had a severe bone disease causing him to have almost no density in his bones and making it hard for him to walk or eat. Today consisted of me crying all day due to the fact that my baby will probably never be able to walk normal or have a normal diet that he deserved to have from the beginning.This place has giving me the impression that the animals are just money to them and nothing more. I now have to feed him through a syringe with chicken flavored baby food and calcium drops.The vet declared that Arlow has a "long road ahead of him" they also explained that this disease was caused from not getting calcium at the pet store for MONTHS.This could have been preventable.DO NOT BUY FROM HERE THE STAFF ARE RUDE,the poor animals are not kept after and Arlow deserved better.All the animals there deserve better.SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN. read more

There are photos going around the Internet that made it all the way to Michigan of the way there animals are crated. It broke my heart to see how a bulldog had nothing but an empty bowl and empty water bottle in his crate. When I called the store to speak to a manager about my concern I was told that there was a manager available but the man on the other end asked if he could help me. I again requested a manger and begain to express my concern for the way ppl view there store. He then all of a sudden turned into the manager instead of telling me he was the manager from the start. I also brought my 2 dogs in the store and keep a very good eye on them and the old man said "can you keep a eye on your dogs they have been peeing in the store and we have caught them" my dogs didn't pee in the store and the man was very rude about it. i've already written a review but i thought what has happened to me recently with this business needed to be shared. i have been trying buy a Chihuahua from this company for over a week and i just want to save this dog from this horrible store. they sent my mom the wrong link and so many wrong directions, until me and my boyfriend had to go in person and do it ourselves face to face with the employees. we finally got the easypay loan to work and went to pick him up today. they tried to say we needed to pay a 825$ unrefundable deposit on top of the 3500$ he already is. we fought and fought and they gave up but this place is shady as hell. We bought our miniature dachshund from here and at 10 weeks he is Perfect... My 9 year old daughter has been pining for a dog for the last few years and finally we gave in because she showed us that she was responsible enough with our friends chihuahua/blue heeler/pomeranian mix that she watched and took care of for a good two weeks... We got him home today and just knew immediately that he was already a great fit for our family.. At just 10 weeks old he is as perfect as they come and couldn't ask for any better... The sales/educator really was very informative about the needs of our new little guy, what he likes and what he doesn't... What future health ailments to be aware of and his diet awareness.. They also recommend their own Vet for the first week checkup and give you a $45 credit towards your visit... I would highly recommend taking one of their puppies to come live in your home you won't be disappointed... read more

This place should not be allowed to sell animals. The fact that these poor pups have no comfort whatsoever in their tiny, dirty, cages is not right. And they price these "purebred" pups outrageously. Go adopt a puppy from a shelter or rescue or at least look at a reputable breeder if anything, my father in law just got a PERFECTLY healthy and AKC registered boxer pup for $700, this place asks $1300 for a less than healthy and possibly from a puppy mill. They claimed to have 'sent them' and when we called to ask for duplicates they informed us that its not their fault we didn't receive them and would have to pay a fee for the duplicates. After reading multiple reviews on the store I regret purchasing from here. Puppies are kept in small cages. Also puppies are said to be from a puppy mill, many people have complained about not getting papers. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE. They do not know the definition of customer service. They argued with me over the phone for a half hour about not wanting to pay for duplicate papers. Any decent company would gladly comply to the customer but they are nothing but stuck up. They had a good variety of pets; fish, cat, dog, birds, rabbits, etc. The kids enjoyed walking around and the employees were friendly. It was nice to see other families looking around also. We purchased our bird there. The staff knew exactly where the bird came from, what his eating preferences were and how he liked to be handled. Best pet store I've ever been to! They very clearly know what they're doing here, and their relaxed, happy animals show it. They have all the baby birds in a giant budgie bin, and it was wonderful to interact with them like I could. It was clear they were taken great care of, and handled a lot (I've never met tamer little birds). We ended up getting a really friendly male, he's doing fantastic so far, he even dealt with the stress of moving away from him friends quite quickly. They had four really young African Grays when I visited. Sweetest things in the world, really curious about their surroundings and eager to figure you out. Obviously cared for lovingly! The ferrets were the friendliest I've ever met, they just crawled up my arm and played with my hair! All the puppies seemed really happy too, and they had a big pile of kittens in one corner (all asleep). Loveliest Dachshund pups I've seen. Beautiful Huskies, interesting mixes like their "Bug" (Pug and Boston Terrier). Anyway, can't recommend it enough, very nice place. read more

We just bought our Shih-Poo on Nov. 21st, 2015. We fell in love with her as soon as we saw her. The pet store got her at 10 weeks and she was almost 6 months old when we bought her. So, she had been there a long time. Shih-Poos are supposed to be groomed every 6 weeks. During the time she was in the store, I was told she was groomed once-("There is a groomer right in the store!) When we took her for her first free grooming, the groomer commented "how long has it been since this dog has been groomed"? After I let her know we had just bought her two days earlier, she quieted down and didn't ask anymore questions. The dog was constantly scratching her ears. The poor dogs ears were full of dirty fur and she was totally infested with ear mites. We then found out she had been treated in August..(3 months earlier) but no follow-up was done. After the grooming they treated her again in the store before we left. We took her for free vet exam. They found she STILL had ear mites and they found that she also has tape worms and an umbilical hernia. This poor little dog sat in that pet store for 3 months with ear mites and tape worms!!!! She had totally been neglected. Supposedly a vet regularly visits the dogs that are waiting to be adopted. But this dog was neglected. I'm so glad we got her when we did. She is the sweetest little dog. But I would not buy another dog from them. read more

Customer service has been very poor every time, and this most recent time I had to yell across the store to help me with a large puppy that was gnawing at my body and jacket. I'm an animal lover, but you can tell they don't treat these animals well, as other reviewers have said, which is probably why they act so nuts. After I politely called for help across the room, I hadn't said anything else, just asked for some help, and they came back very defensive and saying "it's a puppy" over and over, not apologetic at all after having bite marks all over myself. Sadly, very disappointed :( and can't support a business that treats customers and their animals poorly. read more
