No harness area, note it is quite high so falling from this section is not something to look forward to. Beginners beware.

Reviews on here are pretty spot on. I've been to a bunch of indoor rock climbing spots and I honestly must say this was by far the least fun of them all. Inside is very clean and well laid out. Staff members are a bit smug when they find out you are not an avid rock climber. If you do not know how to tie your own harness you are limited to a small outer section of the gym where harnesses are not used. Even though the walls are shorter, (I would guess approximately 12 feet) I felt uncomfortable not using a harness - as when you loose your grip or become tired it forces you to fall from that height onto a padded floor. After a few of these drops you tend to take it a bit easier and not push yourself to go any higher. This takes the fun out of it... Overall the gravity vault is definitely a spot for a rock climbing enthusiast, but not for the average Joe to come in an have some fun. I wanted to do something different, something challenging and really all I got was sore hands and a bruised butt. Lastly, when we left I looked over at the staff and said "bye, thank you" to which I received no response from either, that was really rude. I won't be coming back, but due to the options they have for experienced climbers I won't give a bad rating, as I feel if I was a climber it would have been a different experience.

I took my daughter here for the first time last weekend and she loved it. She wanted to try it out and the deal was $20 for 2 climbs. However, that took all of 10 minutes, so, of course, she wanted more. They let us upgrade and we paid an additional $30 for the $50 for 1 hour deal. The employee helping my daughter was very nice and encouraged my daughter to keep going. They have many different walls to climb of different levels of difficulty. I thought it was somewhat expensive, but an hour of rock climbing fun for the kid is priceless, I guess.

Today was my wife's 50th birthday. The one thing she wanted more than anything this birthday was to climb. May seem kind of silly but it was huge for her. She is 8 weeks post-op on one and 12 weeks post-op on the other of her bilateral total knee replacements. A couple weeks ago, her surgeon lifted all restrictions and said she could do anything as she could tolerate. She was determined to climb. We've never climbed before!!! We were helped at the counter by Julia who was awesome and she turned us over to A.J. Who was our line man. He was awesome!!! Actually awesome is an understatement! Thank you A.J. for your attention, assistance, patience and for making this birthday wish come true. Anyone who thinks they might like to try this, do it! And ask if A.J's available! Thanks again Gravity Vault! We'll be back!!!

This is the literal only gym I've ever been to that just drapes the top-ropes over the anchors, rather than looping them over once. (And I used to climb at the Movement in San Francisco which this was NOT the case at.) This creates a HUGE issue for the lighter weight climber when belaying, and is frankly so scary it's made me not like climbing anymore. All they offer are some giant, dirty kettlebells for you to lug around with you, but that only (kind of) stops you from launching in the air. It doesn't prevent the extreme amount of friction you have to fight through the Grigri. I've never even had this much of a problem lead climbing, because we can use an ohm, which you can't use top roping because it pins the rope to the wall which is unsafe for the climber. When I brought up this concern to someone who works there they shrugged it off like it wasn't a big deal, and said "oh well it's better because lowering is faster this way" uh... okay, but it's not better if i'm literally fighting for my life simply to lower my partner and not kill them or be launched into the air?? but yeah, lowering faster is nice, sure. I want so badly to like this gym, but the complete lack of regard for safety is mind-boggling. The biggest shame is that it's the only gym of it's type in the area so it's either climb here unsafely, or don't climb at all. Shame on Movement Corporate for not doing more to regulate the safety at their gyms.

The walls have been rebuilt, the flooring has been redone, and the overall feel of the space is clean, modern, and well thought out. It's become a really solid bouldering gym. Definitely worth checking out!!

Rock climbing isn't for everyone but I do think everyone should at least give it a try and decide later. This rock climbing gym is tucked behind in a plaza so can be easy to miss. Once you arrive, it's a 13+ gym minus the intimidating part of being in a gym with everyone staring at you. At BC's, it's a community, the friends I met and made here all come on a regular basis. If you're not from the same crew they're still there to support you and help you. Whether it's your first time, 10th time or you just come here all the time, it's a family. It's a place that inspires movement, thinking and a very technical and different way to make your climb flow. I'm by no means a climber, but as a very, very, VERY beginner I will say anyone can do it. Come prepared for calluses, bring some chalk, as active as you think you are, you're not ready for this haha. Either way, try it, challenge yourself and do it! It's all mental but also challenging. If you keep coming back like everyone else does you will become better at it. Did I love it? Yes. Do I wish I lived closer to be able to do it more often? Absolutely. Will I be a climber? Nooooope. But I'm here to support all and also tell you to check this place out because it's absolutely worth it. Also, their pricing is very flexible, if you bring or borrow some shoes it's only $18 for the whole day, or couple of hours that you come for. No shoes? No problem. Only $5 to rent and $3 for chalk bags. They have a 30 day pass that's only $79 or 10 class passes too. Just remember, no harnesses here, only bouldering. It's fun to learn how to fall and fail and learn from it. If this isn't your thing like me but you still want to try something new, I say do it!

Called ahead and the front desk staff were very quick in getting back to me to confirm that a belayer was available at that time. They also confirmed the Groupon over the phone. I went ahead and completed the required waiver forms online prior to our visit. Adequate parking was available at that time. The Rock Club (downstairs) shares its space with a with a tennis club, so make sure you follow the ramp down toward the Rock Club entrance and NOT the stairs whih leads to the tennis club. We arrived at around 10am and it was fairly empty. The Rock Club staff explained the process and set us up with climbing shoes. We were then introduced to our belayer who was awesome. Over the next hour, we tried climbs ranging in difficulty. The wall heights range from about 35-40 feet and the peg placement and wall angles vary throughout the climbs, making some more difficult than others. We even had some time to try some bouldering. Our belayer was great at explaining techniques and technical terms. She was very patient and very encouraging...though not "pushy" at all. After we finished, the staff was nice enough to show us around to see what else was available at the facility: childrens area, common areas, training rooms and weight rooms. May go without saying...wear comfy clothes. As a regular gym-goer, but someone who has NOT climbed before, this was a welcomed challenge. Certain muscles, particularly the forearms and core, may not be part of the typical gym regimen...but are very important in climbing...that being said, I was definitely feeling it the next day. Starting from the old railroad station is nice, you can still see some old tracks on the ground. Walk to the overlook is fairly easy, once you get to the start point of Lower falls junction, it is where you need to be prepared. I recommend hiking shoe, especially in colder months where the ground is wet and iced. When you reach to the stone steps, they can get slippery. I am surprised no one fell in late March. Half of the steps were cover in ice and people were wearing regular sneakers. Once you reach the base of the two tier falls, the view is tremendous. If water levels are high, you can feel the energy of the water. There is a lot of spray from the falls when you get close. There is short trail to the middle tier pool. It was iced up during winter, spikes will definitely be useful. The end was amazing too. So close to the lead of the waterfall. You can keep going and follow Escarpment trail and follow the edge of the valley. There is monument for fireman Frank Layman who died during firefighting in 1900, at his monument, you can see route 23A bend around mountain. The town mask mandate requires businesses to respect medical exemptions. I was belaying my partner at Central Rock Hadley in August 2021 when they told me to put my mask on after I'm done belaying him. I said "OK!", and they left. A couple of minutes later, when I was holding my partner up in the air, both hands clearly occupied, the manager came and snapped at me in an extremely nasty tone to put a mask on immediately at that moment. I explained to her that I was holding my partner up in the air and it would be unsafe to do so. How more unsafe could you get than to demand someone to put a mask on while they're holding someone up in the air? She then said that I had to either lower him, or give her the rope so I could put a mask on. I wanted my partner to finally get that climb and to continue to communicate with him about it so I put my mask on while she held the rope. After I was done lowering my partner, I took it off, and she came back to harass me, which I explained that I had a medical exemption and there has been no issue from anyone with me wearing it when I could and taking it off when I couldn't, until now. She stated I had to put the mask on immediately at that moment, or leave now, and if I didn't chose one of the two options, she would call the police on me. I told her I would leave and later on she explained that I had to wear a face shield if I couldn't wear a mask, to which I explained that I couldn't wear a face shield either. Her rules were: everyone needed to wear either a face shield or a mask. My medical exemption was effectively ignored. The manager and employees were also delighted when my truck with signs advocating for medical freedom was vandalized. In fact, from how they acted, I wouldn't be surprised if they knew who did it, or were even involved with it themselves. The Hadley police reviewed the footage but the footage was too blurry to see who did it, so I wouldn't be surprised that these bullies tampered with it, either.
