My Boy Scout Troop stayed overnight, for the third or fourth time (every few years), Instructors (shoutout to Andy and Wil) were great, and when it quieted down set up their challenge course. A good time was had!

While most of it's auto-belayed climbs are easier than Prime Climb, there are a couple harder ones, possibly 5.

Excellent day! My group of 5 was paired with another…read moresimilarly sized group for a 2-hour zipline adventure. There were 5 or 6 lines ranging in length from about 50 feet to 700 feet. The 700 foot line is awesome. In between there is a high-ropes "intermission" when you can choose between some "broken bridges" or a net obstacle and tightripe. After that my group did a Tree Climb which is a physically demanding challenge to get up very high trees, swing from ropes, etc. Unlike the zipline which is just fun adrenaline, the tree climb requires some real exertion and I would not recommend it for those who are afraid of heights or who are not physically active on a regular basis. The guides for the adventure were all great. They were encouraging, made us feel safe, and made an effort to learn our names. It was a great experience all around and I would recommend this as an activity for anyone.

Make sure you come here with clothes and sneakers to wear in the woods if you partake in the entire experience. So first we did the ziplining and it was great - we zipped through about 6 lines of varying lengths and a couple of them had obstacles like a broken bridge or a tight-rope walk. Then we did the treeclimb. One entailed swinging from tree to tree until you got to the top, and the other one was to climb a very old, very large tree. The third thing we did was the scavenger hunt, which was great because we traveled through the entire premises to get clues to each station to accrue points and ultimately defeat our adversaries. lol The service and friendliness of the staff was top notch. They made us feel pretty comfortable and were having a good time along with us as well as guiding us through a fun, safe experience. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for adventure and a good time with a group of friends.

We bought our tickets online and in advance, we did our waivers and etc etc. We did something like this before elsewhere so we aren't new, we knew we needed gloves and what attire ( sneakers and something cozy nothing too tight or short). We got there for our designated time and were greeted by a man named Clay, he warned us there was a bunch of students that would be there for the next 2 hours, the same slot my mom and I were supposed to go. He said we could climb if we wanted or come back anytime we wanted that day or another day, we chose to go down the road to shop and come back and I'm so glad we did because we got to have the place practically to ourselves, thanks for the heads up Clay! Okay so we come back, this place is huge! Climbing, zip lining and tons of courses and levels. Even a kids area for the little ones, so cute. I want to name a few people who we worked with for the day who were an absolute delight and they need praise. Here are the names: Shawn who checked us in. Tucker who briefed us and gave us the rules and Ryan who was very kind and told us some stuff in regards to which course we wanted to do next ( because we practically did them all). The staff here are delightful and kind. And Ryan even helped a child who was stuck and needed help, he sprung into immediate action and was quick no second thought. Made me feel safe as an adult, so I know that child felt safe, GREAT JOB! I think the intensity of this place is great for all levels and there was enough zip lines for the amount of exercise you do. It was a nice view and the staff made it more fun. The music was good, which I enjoyed as well. I have nothing negative to say here. They have a huge parking lot, and it looks like they do night courses and ax throwing soon, I believe. So glad I booked this, we had a blast. Kudos to you all!

A trio of us…read morewere visiting for fall foliage in late October and booked a half-day trip through the gym's website. We were able to fill out everything online, and Kevin reached out the afternoon before our climbing day to confirm the crag (east facing on Ragged Mountain, so we could be warm!), where we would park/meet, and any pertinent notes. Once there, Kevin had all the gear we needed, packed and ready to go. Harnesses, helmets, ropes, webbing, things I didn't know we needed but he had prepared for safety/security/fun. Then, we had a short approach and voila! A wall with plenty of climbs. Kevin led us up a scramble first to set up our first two top ropes and gave us a chance to rappel back down after we took in the incredible view from the top of Ragged Mountain. We spent the morning climbing a range of 5.6-5.8s, got to say hello to a friendly pup, and learned a lot about crag stewardship in the area. Our trip had a blast, and despite the wasp/bees that we were disturbing, we couldn't have pictured a better day. I'll be making an excuse to visit more often to take advantage of Connecticut's great climbing scene, Kevin's knowledge, and relationship with the local climbing community. Yelpers, you won't regret it!

If you and your climbing partner have a significant weight difference or you like feeling terrified…read morejust top roping - DO NOT GO HERE. This is the literal only gym I've ever been to that just drapes the top-ropes over the anchors, rather than looping them over once. (And I used to climb at the Movement in San Francisco which this was NOT the case at.) This creates a HUGE issue for the lighter weight climber when belaying, and is frankly so scary it's made me not like climbing anymore. All they offer are some giant, dirty kettlebells for you to lug around with you, but that only (kind of) stops you from launching in the air. It doesn't prevent the extreme amount of friction you have to fight through the Grigri. I've never even had this much of a problem lead climbing, because we can use an ohm, which you can't use top roping because it pins the rope to the wall which is unsafe for the climber. When I brought up this concern to someone who works there they shrugged it off like it wasn't a big deal, and said "oh well it's better because lowering is faster this way" uh... okay, but it's not better if i'm literally fighting for my life simply to lower my partner and not kill them or be launched into the air?? but yeah, lowering faster is nice, sure. I want so badly to like this gym, but the complete lack of regard for safety is mind-boggling. The biggest shame is that it's the only gym of it's type in the area so it's either climb here unsafely, or don't climb at all. Shame on Movement Corporate for not doing more to regulate the safety at their gyms.
