The grass is so beautiful and green and healthy. They have two storefronts in Austin you can visit to pick up your grass or they will deliver it straight to you. It comes right from the farm where it was grown. The delivery drivers are curteous and plop it down in your driveway just where you want it. A great experience. I ordered a palate of St. Augustine for self install at my house to patch areas where the grass had worn down and needed a refresh. I ordered online and my palate was delivered 2 business days later. I was contacted the day before by the delivery driver, Jason, who explained that his 85-foot flatbed truck would be unable to negotiate the sharp turns and narrow roads in my neighborhood. I met him at 4:30 am (my choice!) just as promised and guided him on where to park his truck and use his forklift to drop the palate curbside. I've now laid all the grass and it's ALL in great shape - a nice healthy dark green in color, not dried out, and no yellowing! Well, this is my first time buying sod and I'll be the first to tell you that I don't know what I'm doing. The biggest thing I've learned is to never tell your friends or neighbors how much you paid for your sod. Someone always has a friend who knows a guy who can get it cheaper. Having said that, all I know is that I needed to do this 1 pallet at a time and get it done on my time table over the course of the summer. I started the Google searching and I came up with these guys. I thought "What the heck, I'll get a pallet of Palisades Zoysia and go from there". Ordering is incredibly easy. Their website is super slick and helped me decide on the Palisades Zoysia (apparently, it's pretty popular). My front yard was mostly bare and had more clover than grass. I ordered a single pallet and decided on a delivery day. I live in North Dallas and they have 2 deliveries a week to the surrounding area. The price of the delivery is about half the price of the sod, but it is totally worth it! There is no real way I could get a pallet of sod from anywhere to my house, so I'll pay the delivery price. When I ordered, I added in the notes that I would prefer an early delivery time since I go to work in the afternoon. On the day of the delivery, the guy called and said he was on the way. By 8 in the morning I had a big pallet of Zoysia on my driveway (if no one is home, they will just drop it off). A couple of hours later, I had exactly 1 pallet of sod laid down in my front yard (my wife and I did it). The Zoysia was very nice and has done well. It has been a month and I have repeated this process for the 2nd pallet of Zoysia for my front yard. This time, the delivery guy called the night before to tell me he would be there between 7 - 7:30 am. 2 pallets down, probably 2 more to go. I still don't know what I'm doing, but The Grass Outlet has made this whole experience easier. read more

I ordered three pallets of Native St. Augustine from Grass Outlet on 620 in Austin, and they were delivered on a flat bed trailer at 7:30am on the scheduled day. The truck driver said he was up at 1:30am to pick up this load and deliver it to me. The grass was in tremendous shape. Only one piece out of the 500 pieces in the three pallets was unusable. I've never seen St. Augustine sod grass in such good shape. I've had it down for 4 days now, and it is looking great still, lush and healthy with no signs of yellowing. I had a dozen or so extra pieces that I didn't put down until yesterday, and even those pieces were still in good shape 4 days after delivery (I kept them stacked in a shady area in my yard, moist but not soggy). All in all, this was a very positive experience. I like family businesses (think HEB), and from where I sit, these folks seem to really care and take pride in what they do. We ordered the Zeon Zoysia online from Grass Outlet. The grass is gorgeous, fresh, green and super thick. We paid the lowest price of any local supplier and delivery was relatively inexpensive. Less than 1% of the squares had a weed in them which was easy to pull, no problem. Delivery was extremely prompt, punctual, and professional. The pallets were larger than 450SF so we ended up with an entire extra pallet out of 4 ordered. HIGHLY recommend this grass supplier. Wow, great grass! I enjoyed the ease of the website and excellent instructions provided. We installed Bermuda (for the first time) mid-May because a line of storms were on their way. We've never laid sod before and it was definitely hard work. The pallets were delivered at scheduled time. The sod was a beautiful 1" thick clay-like-material. I was worried it would be dirt and full of holes. The top few pieces (and final bottom pieces) were dried out and a bit crumbled (as stated on their website) but we used them for end pieces. The rest laid like door mats. It took two people a good 10 hours to do 900 sq feet. We followed their directions exactly and we are blown away by the results. Even our neighbors are amazed. I thought that The Grass Outlet pricing was very competitive (and a little better than a couple of other quotes that I received), and I was happy with the quality/freshness of the grass that arrived. Additionally, the crew did a good job of preparing for the install, and with the install itself. They did scrimp on a couple of things at the end (did not clean the driveway) but all in all, I would say that I had a positive experience from the price quote to scheduling to grass quality through installation. I ordered a pallet of Texas Native St. Augustine grass on Monday morning, President's day. The grass arrived Tuesday morning. The driver neatly placed the pallet in my driveway. The grass was in fantastic shape. I read all installation instructions and had an easy time installing the sod. I had time to run to the tool rental store and picked up a sod roller, and still finish laying out the entire pallet by 3pm. I'm age 61, and this was much easier than the ground prep. "There is a reason why TGO is so cheap. You will get what you pay for... that is 100% correct when it comes to TGO". We did not have a good experience with both TGO's sod and their service. Our grass started dying within a few months of installation despite us watering, fertilizing etc. as directed. In fact, we had TGO staff come after 3 months to see the health of their grass and how it was deteriorating. The lead guy, Mikel, is arrogant, argumentative to the point that he will not let you speak. He has zero understanding of customer service. When they did our job, either it was not good quality sod or it was a bad installation job, but our grass started dying after a few months of installation. Then they started to make excuses about not enough sun and we needed to get the tree cut. Well, we did that too and still the grass died. They didn't fix the issue or provide a resolution. All in all, it was a bad experience with TGO and I won't recommend them to anybody IF you want to get your lawn done right. - Go with a vendor that provide 1-year warranty on product and service - Don't be fooled by lower prices as the product quality will reflect the same. - Make sure to get everything in writing. Verbal commitment by Mikel doesn't mean anything. He will back out on promises just like he did with us. - Use a company that will have it own staff. TGO seem to sub-contract to smaller latino vendors which of course you will not know. If things go wrong, TGO will blame those vendor/foreman instead of taking ownership. read more

Placed my order online. The website was very helpful and descriptive in helping me select which type of grass I wanted for the area I was installing it. Pricing was very reasonable. Placed my order and chose ASAP as delivery option. I had my receipt emailed and was contacted a few days later via text letting me know when they would be delivering. They had my healthy fresh Zoysia Palisades grass within four days delivered to my driveway. Driver was very professional and communicative. He even texted me the night before asking exactly where I wanted it placed. Driver was on time as projected for early 6 am delivery. A pallet buggy was used to come into my housing area instead of trying to maneuver a giant semi through which I thought was very handy.
