The food and service was amazing. And so was the price. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left I loved it. We had the dolmades appetizer and they were some of the best I has ever. This is actually a good Italian restaurant right there with Casa Italiana but I prefer the Grapevine especially for the price and how much you get more at the Grapevine. Good descriptive website menu and their website is actually pretty neatly done compared to their Italian competitors over in Cox Road. I really recommend their chicken and broccoli Alfredo, their salad is good but their bread is okay! Their Alfredo sauce is my favorite cause it's not overly heavy and creamy like Maggianos. Also never have had a problem with this restaurant and they absolutely go above and beyond when there is an error they make. I had ordered carry out and got home with my extra pasta and the extra pasta I was given was wrong with no sauce. I called their establishment and someone delivered it to me since I was nearby, complimentary no delivery fee service like that from a small business is hard to come by, the owners here work hard day in and day out so please take your time to drop by this one! read more

This place was phenomenal. First they serve the bread with herbs and olive oil so A+ in my book. shrimp Sparta's white wine sauce was to die for. The chicken Alfredo wasn't bad but the Shrimp Sparta blows the Alfredo out of the water. Tiramisu was partially frozen in the middle and not the normal mouse texture, which makes me skeptical that it's Premade and. It made in house. BUT the baklava cheesecake was truly delightful . I can not say enough about the restaurant, food and their fabulous staff. There is not enough space to write how great everything was. First being I had only two weeks to plan a rehearsal dinner due to the place we were having it closed and also let me mention I live 5 hours from Richmond. Anyway Mackenzie one their coordinators worked with me to plan the event and she had everything set up in days. She was so organized, patient and efficient. She even provided me her cell phone number in case I had to ask her any questions . The night of the event the staff set up everything for me. I didn't even have to do that. Thank you Maggie, Angie, Morgan, Mitch, Bassinet and Mandoo. Now to the food it was DELICIOUS and the perfect buffet amount for 41 people. The wedding party is still talking about how great everything was. Now to the servers Stephanie, Courtney and Eric thank you, I have never been waited on by such wonderful, caring, professional and personable people in all my days. I can't give you all enough praise. My daughter who works in the restaurant business for many years also remark that they were the best she had ever seen. Came here for dinner. The service was the best I've had in the Richmond area thus far. We were welcomed like family and the food was more than a 10. We had the Salmon Marco Polo and the Seafood Cannoli on the special menu. Husband says the salmon was excellent. The Seafood Cannoli was the best meal I've had in sometime. Would have loved joining a large group to of friends fo a holiday lunch, but either the restaurant s too big or the parking lot is too small. We drove n circles for 15 minutes hoping one spot would open but no luck. Some in my group parked in the adjacent apartment lot. There were signs present warning of possible tow away. The Grapevine excels when it comes to ambience and service! From the hostess to the waiter and other staff, everyone was incredibly friendly and genuine --- doing the Italian/Greek tradition proud. Loved the little, personal touches like hanging our coats and boxing the meals for us. The decor is also fun and romantic. Would be a cute date spot, but not so formal that I felt uncomfortable in my athletic wear and sneakers. However, the food leaves a bit to be desired. I think the pasta simply may have been under seasoned, which is an easy fix but also a big no-no for supposedly authentic Italian. Don't get me wrong, it was still pretty good but of the four entrees / one appetizer at the table there were no truly *remarkable* bites. The Grapevine hosted our group of 17 (!!!) yesterday with only a week's notice on reservations. THEY. WERE. FABULOUS. Not only did our server, Crystal, do a stellar job keeping drinks filled, orders moving quickly, and everyone cared for - but she generously cared for each person in our group. I don't know how she kept the orders straight in her head, but she did a fabulous job. We came here for dinner, kind of late, but hoped that the experience would live up to the great reviews. Unfortunately, we weren't that impressed. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and spot on when it came to service. She is certainly a valuable attribute to this restaurant. The food, well...that was another thing. We started with the Icharus Flambe' (flaming cheese) that was very delicious. Healthy serving of cheese that had a nice lemon-tangy flavor. Once the flames had subsided, we spread this on some quartered hand-tossed pita. The taste was very good. I ordered the Khristo's Sampler, she had some hummus and a small Greek salad. The sampler looked good initially, but the flavors were so subdued and muddied by mediocrity, it became rather unpleasant to eat. It was almost like everything was just "heated up." The gyro meat is the kind that is pre-packaged like deli-meat (not fresh), and warmed up on a flat top grill. The Pastitsio was mushy and lacked any discernable flavors whatsoever. The Souvlaki (pork tenderloin) was hardly char-grilled (as stated) and tasted like it was warmed up in a pan. The spanakopita was tasty, and the dolmatas (grape leaves) were fairly decent. Her hummus tasted on-par, and pretty good overall. Salads were good and house dressing was very good. We brought home a piece of the cheesecake with pistachio/baklava topping, but was substantially smaller than the piece that was shown on the dessert tray. Still, the taste was good. I grew up eating and preparing greek/lebanese food, and still make it at home from time to time. I have also come to realize that most of the ethnic cuisine in the Richmond area lacks a substantial amount of the characteristics of preparation that I grew up with and have experienced for so many years. I try not to be very picky, but the lack of flavor and seasonings seems almost endemic to this area. Perhaps it's just a safe way for people to get a "sense" of cuisine outside of what they're used to, but it seems such a shame these restaurants have chosen to cater to a palate that would otherwise be offended by traditional flavors. The Grapevine obviously has a following, and there are some good aspects about the food. However, I can't really say that I will likely return anytime soon. Maybe I'll give one of their pizzas a try. The food was absolutely amazing, but the staff are clearly what makes this place great! They clearly work very hard to give customers a great experience. On December 22nd, I gathered a group of my Richmond friends at the Grapevine which has been a favorite of ours for many years. Having moved away, it was the first choice for our reunion. The staff made the reservation process a breeze and lunch was fabulous. We had a room practically to ourselves and could laugh and talk without disturbing others. The best part for me is always the lasagna, which is the best I have ever had... lasagne is my "test" order for any Italian restaurant and the Grapevine's is so good that it is my only order now. This review is for the FOOD TRUCK only -- I recently attended an event where Grapevine attended with their food truck. It was a hot day and they were serving fresh squeezed lemonade, so I simply had to try it. And WOW - delicious. Totally hit the spot with the right balance of tangy and sweet. I also am a sucker for a good baklava, so I ordered two to take home with me and enjoy later with a bit of Chardonnay. I am not kidding when I say this was some of the BEST baklava I've ever had in my LIFE. And when you have a whole set of Greek in-laws, that's saying something! I didn't try any of the larger meal selections here, but I was impressed with what I got and would certainly repeat the experience. We had 22 people Saturday night for a birthday. Everything was set up when we arrived. Service and food were impeccable. The wait staff was exceptional. Nobody waited for anything. Food came out promptly and was hot. Drinks were filled continuously. I consider this restaurant my favorite in Richmond. Came here for my birthday dinner and my family knows that I'm serious about my Italian food. Now when a restaurant is hidden you already know the food is going to be good.
