We just had Martini Monday happy hour and loved it! We ordered chicken wings, smoked chicken sliders and fries. Everything was delicious!

We were looking forward to having lunch here with my friend and we finally had the chance to do it yesterday. We arrived at 1:30pm and the rush was over. There were only a few tables occupied and two tables outside. Our food came reasonably fast. My friend enjoyed her tomato bisque. I had the clubhouse sandwich with house salad. The sandwich is just your regular turkey sandwich with cheese and bacon on toasted bread with a little bit of mayo. I only ate half the sandwich and had the other half for lunch today, I reconstructed it with more mayo and cooked the bacon a bit more. I meant to give 3 stars but I thought it wasn't fair to judge them based on one sandwich. I'll go back to this place but I'll skip this sandwich next time. Service was friendly. We had a short conversation with the gentleman server. He has worked there before the change of ownership. We didn't get his name but he was polite and courteous. I didn't get to look around too much as I was sitted facing the window. The place looks bigger now though. read more

I'm really hoping it was one of those "bad days" on the culinary front... Rossmoor *allegedly* spent $200K on "consultants" to rehab the onsite bar/restaurant so was curious to try. Love the new layout - easier for clientele and staff to navigate. Like the banquette layout and acoustics are improved (esp for folks with auditory issues). The singer/guitarist was great but not conducive to conversation. (note to self to sit somewhere further away if socializing...) The tomato bisque was delicious but our seafood entrees were extremely disappointing - bland (unsalted sole) and overcooked to the point of inedibility (mussels). Service was good and new menu seems promising so am really hoping it was a glitch in the Matrix... read more

New ownership in the former Creekside grill. The menu is more extensive than before. Two of us had the chicken piccata. It was a generous serving of chicken over a bed of spinach with buttery mashed red potatoes. We both liked that the chicken was not fried and breaded. We would both order it again. DH had the hamburger, medium rare. It was cooked perfectly and he enjoyed it with a salad. Convenient good food for residents of Rossmoor. Our server was very nice. read more

What a surprise. It's located in 55+ community of Rossmore. Not your usual country club restaurant. The bar is cozy and the drinks are wonderful. Service is ++ The plates are generous in portions and are very tasty. The salmon is wonderful. Great mix of flavors. Love this new restaurant. read more

Great service continues. This time we sat in the bar and we actually liked it better there than in the main room. It just felt more cozy. The food still isn't great. It's just OK. The tomato soup was way too oily and not thick at all. It had great flavor but not the right consistency so they gotta work that out. The grilled cheese sandwich was just blonde, but the Parmesan crust on the top of it was really good. Maybe I should've added it back to it? I won't give up on the golden pair because they're still young and figuring things out and I really wanted to work because having a place inside of Rossmoor is really convenient. read more

I have been to the GP a few times and unfortunately it needs help. Chicken Piccata was not actually correct. Chicken should be pounded thin not just a grilled dry piece of chicken with minimal sauce. Terriyika rice bowl needs more vegetables it only had a few pieces of very small broccoli and carrots :( Needs red peppers, green peppers, mushrooms, and onion. Also fresh ginger. The steak in it was good! I have also had the regular hamburger and it is very good other than wilted lettuce. I will be back hoping you read this and make some changes. Great dinner and atmosphere! My husband and I shared the Calamari Fritti and New York White Cheddar Fondue which was outstanding. If you run out of bread and goodies they'll give you more. For entrees my husband had the French Onion Soup with Stockyard Angus New York Steak and added the Prawns. I had the Garlic Prawns. Both great! Finished off with some amazing Bread Pudding and Affogato! read more

I took my client who lives at The Roosmoor and was so excited for this restaurant. Unfortunately we were very dissatisfied with the quality of our food. I ordered the French dip (one of my favorite dishes) and it literally was bread(not fresh) and meat, no cheese, mushrooms or any mayonnaise, the au jus was lukewarm at best, , the horseradish was missing from the horseradish they brought me. My client ordered a burger medium rare and it was well done, burger far exceeded the bun, and it was drenched in mayonnaise, with one tiny onion slice. .The ambiance was amazing and the service was great, but the high priced food lacked quality. We hope to have a better experience the next time. If your going to eat here don't get your hopes up to high. read more

Disappointing given the excitement that it drew leading up to the delayed opening. My friend finds the banquette seating to be unattractive (I used a softer adjective). There's no more covering in the outside dining area, so on a hot day it's bearable. Not sure how renovation money was spent because it's not much better than before. Actually it's quite sterile and bland now. The service was poor from the start. The waiter got our drink order, and I asked for lemons on the side, which he forgot. Then seemed unhappy we weren't ready to order and had to come back. When our food came, a different server delivered it and just kind of plopped the dishes down. Hard enough it made a bang on the table. The only reason for 2 stars was the food was decent. But until they fix their service, going out to eat should be enjoyable from the service to the food. We have now been to the Golden Pear three times. The food is really mediocre. No seasoning on the entrées m, salads are OK. It's true what people say about the banquet breaking up the dining room. It's just ugly. It's really sad that this restaurant after a big fanfare is really so poor. It should be crowded and delicious. There are 10,000 people in Rossmoor many of whom would eat there several times a week. The seasoning needs to improve. We won't go back, at least not for several months. Hopefully they'll get it together. read more

This is my fourth attempt to enjoy this new restaurant at Rossmoor. I just spent $35 to have a salad with lettuce and chicken, the menu called the Waldorf salad. I would've done better to go to Safeway and buy a bag why salad. Oh my God I ordered a lemon drop cocktail, but it was a really nice lemonade and a fancy glass. Even though the service is trying their best being that we're stuck with this is the only restaurant in Rossmoor. I'm very disappointed. read more

Enjoyed a great lunch of sandwiches this week. Our meal was simple and well executed. We did not have reservations and were offered a table in the bar or outside. We sat outside which is what we wanted++ The Golden Pear has been beautifully updated including new furniture inside and out, new cabinets, lighting and finishes. Carbonara's bacon did not have the fat rendered, so it formed greasy clumps: very few peas and slightly overdone pasta. Two very small pieces of overbreaded, dry fish and ok fries made up the fish & chip special. Service was good, but Friday lunch was not very busy. The Chicken Piccata was a thick dry piece of Chicken breast on lumpy unseasoned mashed potatoes, maybe 4 capers! The Petrale Sole was tiny and pan sauted with absolutely no seasoning, 4 small Broccoli florets with no seasoning or butter added, flavorless spoonful of bland rice! Certainly not worth the price! You can make better dinners at home! We miss the days when we looked forward to going there! I'm so happy I gave this restaurant a try. I went there only because I heard that some elderly people from Rossmoor are trying to boycott the place. They keep posting about it on Nextdoor, they are resentful of changes. I didn't even know there was a new restaurant there, I got very curious. Like my father says, talk bad but talk about me lol. I went to visit a family member and took them to dinner. What a great surprise, food was really good, service and ambience with a great vibe. I'll be back soon. Not thrilled with it. Inside it no longer has the cozy feeling of being in a restaurant at Tahoe. A high booth runs the length down the middle of the restaurant so the nice fireplace is no longer a focal point from many spots & you can't see other side of restaurant. TOO NOISY which is a BIG issue for many seniors at Rossmoor already losing hearing! My BLT w/o the B was just okay; I wouldn't order it again. People like the Cobb salad. French fries are very narrow, not crispy and tasteless. (Creekside's - prior restaurant - were fabulous!) Catering provisions are very limited; you must supply table clothes and nice dishes & do the cleanup of dishes. I hope it improves and does something about the NOISE LEVEL. read more

What a great experience. Our group of 15 had completed a 9 hole round at nearby Rossmoor Golf Club. We were seated outside in the shade and our server, Juan, was outstanding. We all agreed it was a very ambitious menu and very reasonable pricing. Generous drink pours and everyone's meal was to their liking. All aspects of ambiance service and food were above expectations. First time at Golden Pear, ordered chicken piccata entree- was prepared with fresh ingredients, not overly salted. Just the right amt. of serving for lunch. Dessert was pear tart with vanilla ice cream, not overly sweet. Service- attentive, but not intrusive. Decor is updated, level of noise not an issue even though restaurant was 75% filled. The quesadilla was poor. No hint of pear. Was there any on there? There was a small container of sauce (They called it chutney) to dip it in which made it tolerable. Waiter never came back to ask if everything was ok. Had to stop him to ask for more sauce. Passing by he just dropped the container on the table. Over priced. Disappointing. The meals we've received in two visits in two months since they opened have been distinctly unsatisfactory. The first time, the burgers arrived well-done twice, though not sent back the second time, just because it really seemed too wasteful. The second time we went, yesterday, none of the four of us were happy with what we received. The food was uniformly bland and bizarrely under-seasoned. I had the blackened salmon and it was very oily, and, while not overcooked, it had no flavor of blackening spices, and required considerable salt to taste like anything. The service has been fine, but the tacos, Cobb salad, calamari, and whatever the fourth dish was, received similarly indifferent commentary. We'll try again, perhaps, in a couple months, but they're wasting the money and effort invested, and losing customers with every meal ordered, if our experience is typical, which we imagine it likely is. I can scarcely understand the 5-start reviews. The prices have gone up and the food is worse, and no one we know of was ever dissatisfied with the formerly Creekside restaurant's management, menu, food, prices, or service, as a rule, and so were quite surprised that a change had been made at all. Also, the opinions on the long banquette they added are that it is a big totally unnecessary mistake, and we are at a loss to imagine what the impetus was. Like I wrote above, we'll give it another go in a couple months, though that'll be it, if it's not markedly improved. Maybe everyone else is satisfied, but we're certainly not, so good luck to them, as we're quite familiar with the razor sharp margins restaurants are operating with, and know that unsatisfied customers rarely complain, but rather just don't return. read more

We had dinner at the Golden Pear 7/16/2026. The menu is extensive. Bar service was timely. We had a Cosmopolitan and a Lemon Drop. Both were satisfactory. We ordered 2 Caesar salads, the New York steak, and short ribs. The salads were ordinary but generous. Unfortunately we weren't given enough time to finish them because the entrees were brought to the table while we were still eating our salads. Very disappointing. The steak was over-cooked (maybe because it was rather thin) but the ribs were just right. It was difficult to get our server's attention but when we were successful she was charming and thoughtful. Given the entree prices ($32 & $36) I believe we were reasonable in expecting more refined service. Recognizing that the restaurant has not been open for long I will give them another chance but I would strongly recommend that management give the servers some training in basic table service. read more
