We decided to go here as a spur of the moment on a Friday night. It was definitely a full house but the wait was only 30 minutes for a table. This is a nice, small, cozy establishment but there are plenty of tables indoors and outdoors. Since the dining area is smaller, you end up sitting close to other tables which isn't a big deal. The only downside is that everyone has to talk pretty loud due to ongoing conversations at other tables will drown you out. If you are looking for a quiet place to eat this is not the place for you. We order a calamari appetizer, the steak Mac n' cheese along the hot chicken. Everything came out pretty quickly and for waitress brought everything out in a timely manner (unlike some restaurants that bring out your appetizer and meal at the same time). A few pieces of the calamari were a bit over cooked and chewy but it was still pretty good flavor wise. The hot chicken was also pretty tasty and it was definitely a larger portion. The Mac n cheese was definitely our favorite by far, we absolutely recommend it. The gnocchi used in it was absolutely fresh, the cheese sauce and the steak we also tasty. I could definitely throw down that Mac n cheese without the steak ( if you're reading this, put it on the menu ). We will be coming back here and if you haven't been, we absolutely recommend you at least give it a try and order the steak Mac n cheese! read more

Food was good. I had the smashed burger. My husband had soup and salad. We both had a drink. Bill came, there was a charge that said, Back House Fee for $2.90. We asked waitress what that charge was for and she said "instead of raising the prices that is a charge for the people who make the dough and sauces". WHAT?? Omg, everyone has gone nuts since covid! They would have made out better raising the prices .50,instead of insulting customers with that charge, which is 3%. I waited for the people next to us to get there bill. My review is based off their customer service I took my cousin here for her birthday back in august. And this is very important, we are ASIAN and I do believe the manager here was racially profiling us. The two young hostess were very friendly off the bat. We got seated and ordered our food. The waitress seemed bothered by our questions and when i asked for another drink she said, " you want ANOTHER one? " I brushed it off, and when my cousin asked for her second drink the waitress kind of huffed. We both also noticed the manager walking around to EVERY single table around us asking how their food was etc, but evidently did not come to our table ONCE. When i walked inside to use the restroom, i stood there to ask and while the host was helping someone else, the manager just stood there. He saw me standing there but did not ask to help, so i walked in and asked a different waitress and she pointed me to the restroom. A couple months later, my fiancé (who is black) and i decided to grab drinks around the area so we came back last night and right when we walked in, the host did not greet us and the SAME manager was there. He looked at me and then looked at my fiancé up and down and my fiancé proceeded to ask about the bar, as we were only there for drinks. The manager goes and says "it's first come first serve, so if you can find a seat then help yourself if not..( he then shrugs) ". So i must say, IF YOU ARE MINORITY I WOULD AVOID THIS PARTICULAR LOCATION OF GOATED BEARD, unless you want to experience this kind of racism. I have never been to the other locations , but this Wayne location i would avoid because the manager needs help in his manners and he needs to quit being racist . I've given Goats Beard a few more tries just because it always has a great lively atmosphere, a nice bar, plenty of outdoor seating, and is in a really good location. They do a really awesome happy hour. The drinks are strong and well made and the appetizers are really good. I highly recommend the Brussels sprouts - spicy with a great creamy sauce and yummy melted cheese. My new favorite drink is there smoke & salt - a spicy margarita. Delicious food, great service, and neat decor on the interior. Randomly stopped here with a group of friends while in town and we are glad we did. We had a table of 8 and our waitress not the kitchen was never overwhelmed, though it was a slow Thursday night. The interior has a warm feel to it with a couple TVs in the bar area if you do want to watch a game. The rest of the dining area is spacious with plenty of booths and tables. All of our drinks and food were great - I definitely recommend the Goat's Beard nuggets which are chicken nuggets covered in sriracha and bleu cheese crumbles, very good! We also had the pork carnitas, grilled octopus, and hummus and all were good. Goats Beard is easily one of my absolute favorites in the area. The food is consistently great, the wait staff is attentive, the space is GORGEOUS, and there is ample parking which makes it easy to get into. We go there often for drinks. There is a great whiskey selection, plus really fancy cocktails and good beer so there's something for most. Bartender Matt is wonderful and will take great care of you! The bar gets PACKED quickly, so get to happy hour or Saturday night early if you want a seat. Food menu is very small, but everything I've had has been delicious. Fresh cut fries are awesome, fish tacos great, burger scrumptious, can't go wrong with anything. I've really enjoyed brunch there before as well. Awesome biscuits and gravy with goat! Great bloody Mary's. The prices are higher than I particularly enjoy, however it is an expensive area and you get great food for it. So it's not a bad deal at all. Plus there are great weekly specials. Check out their website. I love Wednesday's, they have a beer, burger, and a shot for like $15 - seriously a steal. Neat little place in the heart of Wayne. Pay to park at the nearby kiosk. Outdoor seating available, weather permitting. The place exudes rustic charm mixed with main line class. Menu is very limited and borderline eclectic, but still manages to offer something for just about everyone. I dined here for a business lunch. We were warmly greeted and promptly seated well past Noon. We did have to request refills on waters, but service was satisfactory nonetheless. Food is decent, good quality, but slightly overpriced (not surprising). The Ahi Tuna Poke was fresh and nicely prepared, but kind of disappointing -- no real "Poke" flavor, really just a chopped Ahi tuna salad of sorts. Bland. Thankfully I had extra lemons for my water on hand that I squeezed on top, which really helped. The hummus was a very generous portion, and pretty tasty. Comes with lots of veggies and pita to dip. We shared that and the Goat Nuggets, which were very flavorful and on the spicy side. They were probably my favorite part of our meal. My one colleague enjoyed her burger and fries and my other colleague liked the fish taco. We all liked the Deep-Fried Brownie for dessert. (I had actually ordered the Lemon Ricotta Cheesecake -- delicious! -- but they brought me a brownie by mistake. They graciously gave me the cheesecake to-go and didn't charge us for it.) Yummo! Came on a Thursday night and they had the goat nuggets on a 5 buck special. They were so good, perfect amount of heat. I had their smoke and salt cocktail which was jalepeno tequila and a smoked salt rim. It was perfectly balanced. For my dinner, I had the Turkey BLT. The pork belly was the kicker. The garlic aioli was delicious as well. And the fries, well, they were better than the entire sandwich. So crispy and I had mine old bay seasoned. The service was exceptional as well. I recently went to the Wayne location of the Goat's Beard. I had previously been to the Manayunk location once a few years ago and really enjoyed it, so I figured I would give this location a try since I was in the area. We were able to snag a last minute reservation at 6 pm on a Saturday night, which I was happy about. When we arrived the outside patio tables were all filled, but only a few indoor tables had people sitting there. We opted for an indoor table in the corner away from people. The restaurant was only sitting every other table, leaving at least 6-8 feet between you and other people. This really made me feel safer about dining indoors during COVID...which was something I had been nervous about. So let's start with the pros. My sister started with the butternut squash soup, and we split a Caesar salad. Both were fantastic. I ended up ordering the steak gnocchi mac and cheese and my sister got the rissoto, which was filled with apples, fall veggies, goat cheese, walnuts, etc. The steak mac was AMAZING. The gnocchi was cooked perfectly and the sauce wasn't overly cheesy, but more so creamy (which I preferred). My sister loved her risotto too. We also loved the ambiance, and appreciated the manager checking on us throughout the meal. The cons. Service was really, really slow, considering when we sat down there was only 2 other parties seated inside. The server kept forgetting things we asked for, and would suddenly remember a long time later when she walked by our table. It took 20 min for one to-go box and another 35 min for the check after we asked for it. The cocktails (while tasty) had so much ice that you only got a few sips out of them...not an exaggeration. We finished the meal with the brownie dessert to share, and it took over 30 minutes to come out. I wish we hadn't waited for that, because it was very small and honestly wasn't that good. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience here. I still can't get over how good by steak gnocchi mac and cheese was. I hope they keep that on the menu. I will definitely be back if I'm in the area again. I'll just skip the dessert. read more

We went there for dinner while the Phillies playoff game was delayed in Atlanta. The overall atmosphere and decor was wonderful for us three ladies catching up. We had the fish tacos (2 tacos) and Brussel sprouts for apps which were wonderful. Two of us had the salmon while another had the roasted chicken, all entrees went above our expectations. A couple years ago, we ate at the Manayunk location and loved it! We don't live in the city and haven't had the chance to go back. I was so excited to see they opened a new location in Wayne. We went here last night and made a reservation before. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation! This place got so crowded so quickly. They have a huge whiskey selection and about 6 beers on tap. We had a reservation for 6:45 but we arrived around 6:30 and we're happy to be seated early. We ordered the hummus appetizer and it was incredible. Worth every penny! They give a bunch of veggies and warm pita bread and the tabouli inside was delicious! I just wish they gave more pita but there was a ton of hummus. It was so fresh. I ordered the fish tacos and they were so incredible. The fish sizes were big and so fresh and the slaw they put on top is amazing. My mom ordered the same thing. My dad said that when we went here a few years ago, it was the best burger he had. So he ordered it again and could not stop raving about it! The scenario: the kids were at my parents and we wanted takeout dinner but something more elevated. The background: my friend from college, Chef Brian, has been sharing pictures of his dishes for years on Insta and they always looked incredible. Fast forward to 2020, Chef Brian is at The Goat's Beard and I finally have a chance to taste his food! We ordered: street corn salad, brisket mac & cheese, pork fried rice, sticky ribs, and pineapple upside down cake We loved: everything! Seriously, it was all amazingly delicious and nothing was lost due to it being takeout. It was the perfect balance of eating creative/delicious food and not having to wear shoes (or pants). We didn't like: the fact that we didn't order more. Don't get me wrong, portions were just fine and it was more than enough for 2 people - but, I would've eaten more of it the next day. In sum, you have most likely seen menu items like this before but all meals are not created equally. Nice pubby atmosphere, without the noise and crowd intensity, and the food and service are several cuts above. Portions are generous- we ordered too much food, but will look forward to the leftovers. The dishes were outstandingly tasty and more unusual than expected. We would dock a point or two because our main courses came out while we were still only halfway through our appetizers. That problem was amplified by the smallness of our table. But I think our situation was the exception, not the rule. If I went back, perhaps I would stagger our ordering procedure. Also, all checks include a 20% tip, which is on the high side of what I would normally tip voluntatily, but our server was very good, so I did not mind.
