if i could give this place 10 stars.. i would we could hear the music and had to come check it out. this place reminds me of my moms cooking with the range-free, grass fed yummies! we started with the nuggets and the black diamond.. AMAZING. next the fish and chips, without the chips, per a "Keto/paleo" diet. the server, Desiree was more than understanding when it came to the dietary restriction. i got the steak mac & cheese. it was out of this world. we have nothing but great things to say about this place. we will keep coming back. the live music was the cherry on top! if your whole paycheck goes to whole foods - then come here for a much needed break, you won't regret it! read more

First time here and sat in the bar area a few Friday nights ago for my wife's birthday. Food was delicious and service was impeccable. Our server (Beth was her name I believe) was very friendly and I playfully tested her on her knowledge of the menu. Was extremely impressed with how much she knew. My new favorite place. Server was smiling constantly like she was actually enjoying my terrible jokes. The owner/manager/official looking person did the obligatory visit to ask how everything was in enough time to do something about it if we said anything negative. Then there is the food. This was our second time there. It was better than the first which was excellent. In case that's confusing, the first was excellent and the second was better, not it was better than the first which was excellent because it was better. Excellent happy hour specials - all the "starters" are half off! The pork tacos are small portions, but piled high with crisped pork and toppings; the chicken nuggets are actually spicy (not gonna lie - pretty surprised given the suburban location of this bar). Brussels sprouts were fine but I could have done without the anchovy as they didn't add anything to the dish. The fries were amazing and topped with an addictive sweet/savory sauce. The bass fish is excellent. The skin was nice and fresh. The menu IMO was not extensive but the quality of the food speaks volume. I love the ambiance of the restaurant with the outdoor seating. The atmosphere and drink menu here is great, as well as the location in downtown Wayne. Their menu changes seasonally, the waitress said up to 8 times per year. When I visited here in the fall, I had the wings and kimchi fries which were both amazing. Eating here yesterday though, I was disappointed. We had the duck fries which have gotten rave reviews. The fries are so soggy under the duck that only really the edges of the dish are good. It was also extremely salty where it tasted like the sauce, duck, and fries were all salted individually instead of as a dish. Won't order again. The grilled romaine, which I usually love, was just okay. Not crisp, soggy with dressing, very salty again. Don't know if this chef just had a heavy hand tonight. The charred broccoli was the best thing we had. Delicious sauce and cooked and seasoned perfectly. Will be back to Goat's Beard after they change from this menu. read more

I went here for the first time the other night with a group of friends. It is a neat little place in a trendy part of town. Our server was excellent and very attentive. The menu was so-so. Not a lot from which to choose but I did order two apps for dinner that tasted very good. After seeing the chicken caesar, I kind of wished I'd ordered that. It was huge and the presentation was great. It got great reviews! If you are going out and hoping for a quieter place to take clients or a date, this is NOT the place to go--at least on a Friday night. It was REALLY loud--and that was before the music started! I literally yelled the entire night and had to really strain to hear others talking. That's not the fault of the restaurant. It's just not my scene. read more

This is my favorite restaurant. The food is incredible and I can say, without a doubt, that the steak Mac and cheese changed my life. Also, the cheeseburger and fried brownie are the best...I always have room for the brownie, no matter how full I am from dinner. My husband and I chose to go here for date night. We waited at the bar until we got a table - which was relatively quickly. The drinks were very great, service was awesome and the atmosphere pleasant. We were seated at a high top near the bar. About 10 minutes after we were seated a musician set up to play right next to us. Our server moved us to the next table still in the bar area. It was loud but still ok until the drunk women celebrating a birthday showed up. They took over screaming and yelling. Although I respect their celebration, they didn't respect my desire to have a quiet night out with my husband. As a result we cut our evening short. Before we left I spoke with the manager saying that perhaps it wasn't the best idea to seat a couple in the bar area where they would be subject to the noise and excessive celebration. His response was that he couldn't predict the events and to ask for a seat in the restaurant area next time. Although he was right about the prediction, an apology or agreement would have been nice. And perhaps an acknowledgment that maybe the bar area isn't the best place for a couple unless they are forewarned about the musician and possibly the escalating noise level. It is because of this that my rating is lower than it would have been. read more

I've been here 3 times, maybe 4. I love this place. The beer selection is pretty good but the food is off the charts. Mac n Chees Gnocci... why has nobody every thought of this before. And topped with sirloin! My favorite though is the half a chicken. The smoked broccoli and dipping sauce that comes with it is heavenly. I'm pretty surprised to see only 3.5 stars. Have been here twice so far since moving to Wayne. The specialty cocktails are phenomenal, can't go wrong with any of the choices and I believe they change them seasonally. The first visit our table split a bunch of items including the cheesesteak egg rolls, Brussel sprouts, John Hamster pizza (buff chicken), and a burrata salad with fresh peaches. The Detroit style pizza was the stand out and I ordered it on my second visit as well, as well as the Cobb salad, which was surprisingly light making it a great companion to the pizza. Love the twist of putting small slices celery on the buff chicken pizza. My first visit we sat inside for dinner and second visit was outside for lunch. If you are looking to go for dinner definitely make a reservation but for a casual Friday lunch, we had no wait just walking in. We noticed at lunch everyone around us was ordering the burger so that will be next on our list of things to try. read more

Food was so good. Everything we ordered came out delicious. It took. Long time for the food to come out. I think we waited 30 min for any waiter to even approach us. Then to order and wait for food took another hour. So overall we were there for like 3 hours. Service was really slow. Wings, burger, burrata, and goat nuggets, were all ridiculously good! Great wine and champagne selection. Service was excellent! Our waiter Sam was so friendly and very attentive. They had Sunday golf and football on, with half priced bottles of wine and champagne. We will most definitely be back next Sunday for a bottle to watch games. Stars are for the food ONLY! Bartenders were a disgrace. They were so rude, not attentive whatsoever, had such attitudes and literally ignored my group and did not refill our drinks when we asked. They actually ignored us! Such a shame but I honestly have no desire to go back to this bar and I live right around the corner. What a shame. Hire some new bartenders and maybe more people will come in. Bars around the corner were jammed but this one was almost empty. Very telling. read more

When I lived in the area, I was a regular at the Manyunk location so I was really excited to try out the new spot in Wayne. I grew up down the street and I just love seeing downtown Wayne thriving and The Goat's Beard will be a wonderful addition. I tried a couple new things on the menu and got my old favorite. Here's my breakdown: Beets and Burrata Salad: If you're a beet fan, don't hesitate ordering this gem of a salad. The fresh beets mixed with the burrata beautifully. I could have eaten two of these, for sure, it's that good. Charred broccoli with taziki: OMG. Heaven. I love Mediterranean food and this is an awesome addition to the menu. I got the taziki (hope I'm spelling this right) on the side to dip, but I get everything on the side cause I'm a freak. FISH TACOS: Seriously amazing. I live in Southern California now and I gotta say these fish tacos give every fish taco in CA a run for their money. They are just that good. Fries: Get 'em with vinegar (on the side, of course) and let those lips pucker. These babies are awesome, fresh cut and fried - doesn't get any better. read more

Not only do I love dining here in general, but we were fortunate enough to have both our rehearsal lunch and a brunch after our wedding at the Goat's Beard. All my guests were wowed by the food (and given that most of the guests were from NYC, they are quite particular)! Those nuggets were extremely popular- yum! The owner couldn't be more awesome to work with (he was always quick to respond and had great ideas, and his wife did a lovely job with the décor), along with the friendly staff. Just came back from dinner here. Based on the reviews at both locations, I was excited to try this place out! Atmosphere: Rustic with some tasteful modern touches. Cute outdoor patio. Each table was candlelit with a fresh flower in a jar. Sleek wooden tables. The bar area looked awesome! Service: We made a reservation (highly recommended!!!) and were promptly seated and introduced to our server, even though I would say it was rather busy! The server was attentive and offered to explain the menu. He checked in on us regularly and our waters were never empty! Also, a man, who I'm assuming was the restaurant manager, stopped at every table to check in, which I thought was a nice touch. He graciously thanked us for visiting when we left. Food: I was very satisfied with the food. We started with the goat nuggets, which are clearly hand breaded and done so with love. The sauce on them was very spicy but the flavor was awesome. Delicious! I had the goat burger cooked medium. It was slathered with caramelized onion, "secret sauce," bacon, and cheese. I really enjoyed it. Fries had great flavor, just a bit soggy though. Beer/drink: Beer list was short - mostly IPA's which I don't jump at. That being said, I ordered a house beer and liked it. The cocktail list is short also, but charmingly classic. I got an old fashioned and it was so alcoholic I couldn't drink it and passed if off to my boyfriend, so they are definitely not skimping on the booze! Overall, I had a pleasant experience, and I would definitely recommend to friends. I would say it was just what I expected, and I enjoyed it very much. My friend and I tried the goats beard in King of Prussia for a nice lunch. We both had the same food and liked it equally. We started with butternut squash soup that was yummy. A pinch of salt and a squeeze of lemon made it over the top. We both also truly enjoyed a grilled romaine salad. The menu is confusing because there's a wide selection on their brunch portion yet that was not available on this particular day. I was getting excited about a few items to choose from and then disappointed when I found out they were not available. Something about lowering the carbon footprint so they didn't want to make two menus. Um, I thought that was a little weird and a decision I probably would rethink if I were them. Apparently they have live music some evenings. I've been avoiding goats beard because my first take at the restaurant was not that great but clearly they've worked out the kinks. had a morning tour at villanova and our student tour guide rec'ed this place. the restaurant has a cool atmosphere and is located in a really cute town area. and the food!! so good. if you like spice & blue cheese, try the goat nuggets for sure. the mac n cheese was delicious too. the pasta in it was potato gnocchi, which made it really filling and so damn good. my mom got the fish & chips which were super light and fluffy, and my brother got a burger and liked that too. loved the fries that came with my brother's burger too! would definitely come back if in the area again read more

Today was my second time here. I came here the first time because I had heard the cocktails were great. I heard correct. I had the Bourbon Bramble, Moscow Mule, an Old Forester Rye (neat). Granted .. just opened but wasn't impressed, especially with the competition on North Wayne Avenue (Teresa's Next Door and GAP). Food was above average. Wife ordered Fish and Chips were differently presented and quite good. I ordered the burger medium rare, but came out almost well done, waiter wasn't around enough to take note, maybe its because we were outside. Dinner took close to an hour to come out with no apologies or explanation. Despite the whiskey bar claim .. way lacking compared to TND, craft beer selection above average. We'll give them another chance in a few months, let them settle in, but over all .. meh. At least they're better than what they replaced in that space. read more

Food was good when it finally came out. Brunch...plenty of staff and not busy yet out brunch took 35 monutes to arrive! Think the waiters name was Sam...apologised once about 20 mins in to the wait. Never apologised when he finally delivered the food...never came back to refill drinks...had to ask. Even if he was sincere and just said sorry...coffees on us that would of been something or just an actual apology. The cheapest tip we have ever left. Dont think well be back. I really enjoyed this restaurant. I was surprised when I looked on Yelp and saw it only had 3 stars because the food was really good and they have a great bar selection. I highly recommend the burrata to start out with, it was dynamite! Everything for our meal was cooked to perfection and the service was impeccable even on a very busy Friday night. I've been back here a few times, and I assumed this place would have improved but it really hasn't. There seems to be a lack of authenticity with this place. The space still has the best outdoor seating on North Wayne Ave, so it's a great place to have a mixed drink outside on a nice day, but I would go elsewhere to eat. They market this place as a "whisky/craft beer bar" but the beer list is not very good. I won't do it the disservice of comparing it to the world class craft beer bar across the street, but even Christopher's has a much better beer selection than the Goat's Beard. read more
