Our Michigan friends have brought us to explore Glen Arbor and on our way back, we desperately needed food. We decided to try this place and were surprisingly blown away! Being a burger joint, we obviously ordered everything but the burgers lol. We had a long trip ahead and didn't wanna feel too greasy but looking over at other tables later, the burgers looked delicious. I got the peach salad that came with curried pumpkin seeds and shredded asiago and croutons. I added grilled chicken for $4. I wished there were some fresh peaches on it but the salad was tossed in a peach dressing instead. The croutons also tasted like fried pieces of sandwich bread. I will say, I was so pleasantly surprised by how delicious this salad was! Holy cow, after a few days of camping, having vegetables was one thing, having this salad changed my outlook on life. My fiancé was a little saddened by the fact that we will be no where near this place (from Connecticut) becuase he thoroughly enjoyed his brisket wrap. Maybe it's the Mid Western charm and hospitality, but our experience was so great. After getting the bill, our waiter (who had two colored socks on and my friend thought he only had one, but alas, one sock was just black while the other was a hot pink) offered us our drinks to go and brought us back a full cup of iced tea and Dr Pepper. Our table of four left with a $70 bill which was fantastic, given that the food also satiated us to the best degree. All the way from CT, I wanna say: thank you Michigan. An impromptu drive, let us to the gnarly heifer, and I've never been more grateful. They were packed as there was an event happening in town, but I suspect that they are no stranger to weights and a full house because their food was amazing! Not only the food, but the service was so friendly. I literally felt like I was just hanging out in someone's kitchen. My husband got the brisket, burger, and declared it the best burger he's ever had in his life. I got the Farmer burger and it was exceptional. We split an order of Cajun fries which were well seasoned. Not as crisp as I prefer my tries to be, but that is just personal preference, and there were so many that we barely made a dent and had to take the rest home. Food is great and a nice selection. Staff obviously works very hard to provide a good customer experience. They've done a good job of creating a spot where families can eat while entertaining kids. However...if you are an adult couple or group who are looking for a place to relax and converse, the atmosphere is a bit too chaotic and Chucky Cheese for that. My advice in that case would be to skip eating in, along with the long wait that often goes with it. Get your meal to go and dine in a more comfortable, relaxing spot. read more

Okay guys, this is THE one. Cozy space, welcoming staff and ethically sourced food. Best meal we have had in a long time. We came here on the way home from a short vacation up north and Yelp guided us to this gem. We had no idea what to expect, but felt a calm come over us upon entering this bright and well decorated establishment with real plant clippings and healthy food options. I immediately vibed with the chalk board menu and daily specials. The waitress was down to earth and kind. It felt like a bohemian diner that was kid friendly. You guys... the food! Everyone cleared their plates. They made their fries from scratch. My carrot ginger soup hit the spot for a cold day along with my delicious veggie dipping sandwich. My hubby devoured his juicy burger and even their soda had a healthy undertone, marketed as "prebiotic grape soda." This place is not around the corner from us, but if it was... we'd be regulars! Do yourself a favor and go get a burger here! I had an event in town and stopped by for a REAL burger, bun and all. At first it looked heavy on the lettuce, but it wasn't -it was perfect. I created my own with a single patty + cheddar, bacon and all the fixins. A server will come out to take your order whether you sit inside or out. You only order at the counter if you want it to go. Seating inside was pretty full, but I wanted to sit outside anyway since they offer plenty of shade. If there is a wait for indoor seating, they have a board for you to sign in at the door. They always seem to be busy (for good reason), so I apparently hit it at a good time... I was literally the only person on the patio. Good, kind people who don't mess around when it comes to good food and service. Great staple for Whitehall. read more

The best burger of my life? Perfectly smashed, incredible flavor. Got their standard burger topped as is. Picked it up and took it to the brewery down the street (they didn't have food yet at lunchtime). Love that they don't throw your fries for online orders in until you come in to pick it up. Slows the process down the littlest bit, but well worth it and I respect the commitment to quality. Ordered burgers to-go tonight and they were fantastic. Holy cow (pun intended). We had the original Gnarly and and Olive Burger, with a host of additions from the guy taking orders. It's been two weeks since returning home to California and we are still talking about the Gnarly Heifer. We decided to come here on a whim and almost didn't to check out Whitehall, what a disappointment if we didn't. We tried their Truffle Fries, delicious then, delicious cold or reheated later. I had the brisket burger which lasted two meals and was so HUGE. My brother tried the special which was beyond amazing. The Gnarly Heifer is a great addition to the White Lake area. The "Moo Mac" is my favorite item on the menu. The brisket has a sweeter taste and is delicious. The truffle fries are also great as an appetizer. The staff are all so kind and outgoing. The pricing may seem expensive to some, but considering the rising inflation rates, the cost of meat, and the larger portions, it is so worth it. The restaurant also has a rotating burger special that varies each week as well as different soup specials. If you visit when the macaroni and cheese soup is available, get the biggest size you can get because it is amazing! The waitress was nice and knowledgeable. The menu wasn't full of a million things. It had basic staple things, like regular burgers, and also different sandwiches and wraps. On the wall is written their burger of the day, which was a burger with goat cheese, arugula, basalmic reduction, herb roasted mushrooms, finished with a fig jam.
