The Glitz is an amazing restaurant, and I couldn't recommend a visit more. My family and I have been going to The Glitz off and on for over four years now, and I can honestly say that the people there are some of the most wonderful people who create the most amazing food and care deeply about both what they create and the people who come to enjoy it. The food is incredible every single time and, even with the prix fixe menu items changing every three weeks, over all these years and many visits we've never once been disappointed by a meal! Each and every meal and visit has felt genuinely special, many of which were so memorable I still find myself thinking and talking about them years later. But beyond the amazing food and experience, the people make it even more extraordinary. The family ownership (the sisters Jane and Emilie, and Emilie's daughter Anna, all of whom you will see at The Glitz on every visit), the servers, hostesses, and all the other folks who work there are truly some of the loveliest and kindest people you will ever meet! One example that stuck with me was when we came in with my father, who has a big appetite, on one of our first visits. Emilie noticed him and brought out an extra entrée, just wanting to make sure he left happy and well fed! It really shows the level of personal attention they give to every guest, and I have so many examples of these kindnesses, both big and small, from our earliest visits all the way through to now. We are lucky to have become regulars, and we have gotten more than a few other people hooked along the way! My daughter-in-law and I had been trying to arrange a lunch at the Glitz for over a year, so we were very happy when everything came together for us. The menu was excellent, the service outstanding and the environment made us feel very special. It isn't a cheap lunch, but well worth a special occasion event. What a fun experience! I had never heard of The Glitz, but when a friend recently asked me to join her for lunch here, I was in! Getting there from Louisville, I was wondering where in the world I was going, as it was off the beaten path, but it was well worth it. You'll pull up to an unsuspecting building which has plenty of parking. Then you'll go inside the antique mall, which is worth a trip through, and then downstairs to The Glitz. The space is glitzy and fancy but relatable. The menu is set with limited options and changes every few weeks. You can preview it online, but I love the fun that it is a bit of a surprise. Service was quick and friendly as well. You order all three of your courses up front, and they bring them out. We got bran muffins with our entree, and... Wow!!! I have known a bran muffin to be so good. Hehe. Anyway, each course was delightful when I visited. I also told them it was my friend's birthday, so they brought her dessert out with a candle. We dressed glitzy for the experience, but I suppose that's optional. I do believe you'll likely want a reservation as well, so check that out beforehand too. We no longer live in Kentucky but wanted to gather family and friends across several states, and this place was PERFECTION! Anna and her staff couldn't have been more accommodating. We descended on them early on a Saturday afternoon, and, to their great credit, they fed us gloriously and kept us focused on the celebration...quite the accomplishment with the entire building being a feast for the eyes! I really like this brunch spot, located in the basement of an antique gallery, that used to be a school (I was told) and the largest collection of antiques I've ever seen. The restaurant is only open a few days a week and reservations are only taken from 11am- 1:30pm. It's a three course meal that consists of appetizer, entree and dessert. The menu changes every few weeks and you have a selection from a list of three items per course. It's beautifully decorated , but since it's in the basement, it's pretty chilly so bring a sweater. The restaurant and adjoining antique store are housed in a former school building. The restaurant is in the basement and is bedazzled to the point of insanity. In a fun way. The food was quite good! You're given a preset menu with a few choices to make. The portions looked small when delivered, but I was full in the end. They do not serve alcohol but you get a tasty mocktail upon seating. After your meal, you can explore the vast expanse of antiques and creepy dolls and other stuff with eyes. You'll leave knowing full well that they all come to life late at night and clean. Quick trip to Lexington for lunch and antique shopping. We made reservations ahead and enjoyed lunch at Glitz. Our party of four tried everything on the changing menu! The food was all fresh, tasty, and well plated. The ambiance was Rathskeller/Hollywood Glam. Staff was highly attentive and the entire experience delightful. I moved to Kentucky a few years ago. My neighbor friend took me for lunch and to look at the amazing antiques. The restaurant was beautiful with bubble like lights everywhere. They played very relaxing music throughout the antique store and restaurant. The service was impeccable and the food was amazing! They change the menu I believe every 3 weeks and cook whatever is in season(farm to table). Also, this small menu gives you only 3 choices of appetizers, main dishes, and dessert. I've been to a lot of fancy restaurants(Ritz Carlton, etc), but the Glitz has the best food anywhere! Ps I love their refreshers! Ah the Glitz, a review waiting to happen. I have dined at this establishment a few times in my many years. It is an "unique" experience to say the least. The menu is very minimalistic giving very few options, which is their style supposedly. For my appetizer I got the chestnut soup. Now usually when I eat I prefer chest first and then go down and explore the nuts but the glitz managed to combine the two. My first bite of the soup was like coming out the womb, painful and bloody. I almost put the spoon down then and there but I had the guts to go back in. With each bite it got more pleasant but that could have been the draino talking. For my main meal I got the beef Wellington. This is a dish that is quite challenging so I was quite excited to try. When it arrived I was enticed I must say. I was too nervous to ask its name so I went ahead and just took a bite as per usual. Three words for you. Overdone, wet, soggy, stiff, soggy. Now some of those words could be good but in this situation that is not the case. For the dessert I got the nun-such kiss. This did not disappoint but with that said it is blatantly basic. Ice cream and whipped cream and some cream is hard to mess up even for me. But food aside I need to touch in the ambiance and overall feel of the place. The waitresses and staff are quite friendly and make the dining experience enjoyable. The crowd of this restaurant is primarily women in their 80's. But hey business is business. The drive to the Glitz goes through some beautiful countryside.. The service, not only from the waitresses and waiters, but from the staff at the front counter as well. Everyone is always so friendly! The beautiful decor, it truly is breathtaking every time you walk through the door. The menu changes with the season, but I've never had anything bad at this place! My wife had the Potato Soup And I had the Well Dressed Egg. The Hollandaise Sauce was AMAZING! but the highlight was for me was the Scotch Bonnet Chicken. The food was excellent. The lunch is served in 3 courses. There are at least a couple of choices for each course. They give everyone at the table a flute of their fragrant, and not too sweet, sparkling apple cider. That was a nice way to toast our luncheon. I started off with the shrimp in garlic butter served in a seashell. Delicious and nice presentation. For the entre', I had the salmon over pesto linguine. It was served with a warm walnut raisin muffin. For dessert, I chose their signature Nonsuch Kiss. A delicious ending that was made of a meringue shell, jamoca ice cream, and topped with whipped cream and hot fudge. The staff were extremely nice and we never had to ask for anything. My sister took me to the Glitz for my birthday. She used to take my mom here when she was still with us. We arrived early so we could look at all the antiques. Beautiful! Gave us lots of ideas on how to decorate for fall and Christmas. Then it was time for lunch. The decor makes you feel special and the servers were excellent. I got the sliders for the appetiser... melts in your mouth. Perfect size and flavour right on. Next we got the crab and shrimp ..cooked perfectly and again just the right amount. Next was the dessert. I believe it was called Nonesuch Kiss. It starts with a light meringue (like my mom used to make) and ice cream, hot fudge, almonds. Wonderful touch to end the meal. I was the only person in my party who had ever been to the Glitz before. I wanted to take my teenage daughters, and mother for a special early Mother's Day treat which would have to include my 6 month old son. When I called to make the reservation, I was told that I could only bring the essentials - no car seat or stroller - so I was prepared for that. I put only 1 bottle, 1 small chew toy, and a diaper and wipes into my LV purse that I use every day. I did not bring a diaper bag. As soon as we entered today, the greeter told me that my bag was too big and there wasn't room in the restaurant for bags because the tables were too close and the servers would likely trip over it. She insinuated that I should take it back to the car. I told her that it had my son's necessities in it and that I had to have it. A few steps further into the hall, another lady walks up and says for me to just "tuck in under my chair in the restaurant and that it will be fine" but while I am shopping they can put it behind the counter because they have "lots of glassware". I can not communicate how absolutely absurd that I believe it to be that this public retail establishment would assume that I, at 39 years old, am so negligent and irresponsible that I can not walk into a store and control myself and my belongings or have respect for other people's treasures. So that set the tone for lunch... Once we got downstairs to the restaurant the hostess and wait staff were inviting and friendly. The atmosphere is absolutely magical. The food is also delicious. I have always enjoyed my previous visits. The restaurant floor space was ample and my bag was neither seen, mentioned, or in the way. Once we walked upstairs to leave, as soon as we got one step beyond the ladies room, yet ANOTHER gift shop staff asked "can I put your bag behind the counter?" to which I replied "I. AM. LEAVING!". Keep in mind, I was carrying a 6 month old baby with my bag, was in the middle of the hallway, and had not even slowed down to look at any items because I was still offended and exasperated over the way I was treated upon my arrival! read more

This has always been the "fancy ladies lunch" spot in my family. I remember getting to go the first time as a little girl. The food is almost always truly delicious and beautifully presented. The nonesuch kiss is the classic and my favorite dessert. The building is old and full of personality, we love to wander it after we eat and look at the antiques and jewelry. My one star takeaway would just have to be because the last two times the meal choices and taste weren't what I have come to expect over the years.
