Great atmosphere and historic feel to the restaurant. Menu prices are pretty high but the food and service was excellent. Parking was plentiful and close by. Had a choice of the bar or dining room and chose the dining room. Ordered a side salad and shrimp scampi. The wait for food was average even though there wasn't many customers. The food arrived and while it was very flavorful - the scamp had way too much paprika for me. Overall it was a good experience. The waitress was very attentive and helpful. read more

We found this place just browsing Yelp while we were staying in town. There weren't too many options and we wanted something more than fast food or a pizza place. I'm so glad we tried this one because it ended up being perfect! It's beautiful inside, especially the bar area. We sat in there because even though they don't have a dress code, we felt too underdressed and were more comfortable sitting at the bar. Right off the bat, the service was excellent. The hostess was super sweet and accommodating, and shortly after we sat, we were greeted by the owner. Above and beyond! He thanked us for coming and left us to our meal. We had: -Raw oysters: a mixed bunch of deliciousness! -Shrimp scampi: packed with shrimp! So much so that I couldn't finish the dish and had to take the rest home. Very tasty, and has a creole flare to it that sets it apart from your typical scampi dish. -Dessert: faced with the choice of vanilla OR chocolate crème brûlée, we dared to be different and it was a fabulous choice. The mint with the chocolate was a marvelous touch. -Drinks: I had a French 75 and my mom had a different 75 that I'm blanking on the name of. Both were fantastic! The bartenders were both awesome and they truly take pride in their creations. The owner came back around to check on us, and while we ate, we had noticed him giving what looked like tours to other patrons. We asked about some of the history and he was more than happy to share with us. Very interesting and an added bonus to our visit! Amazing!!! Our waiter Tyler gave the best advice. Hubs had negroni and I had a cucumber smash. Both excellent!! He recommended the specials Australian Wagyu beef and halibut with crab. Both were amazing and positively melted in your mouth! Finished with a grasshopper and shared the black forest cake. I stumbled on this place near me on yelp. And let me tell you it deserves 10 stars! Taylor was our waiter. He was thorough, friendly, accommodating (I have so many food allergies ‍) and so much more. The ambiance of the restaurant is top notch. It's warm and welcoming and just quaint. The food.... Wow! Chef's kiss. I wish I had taken better pictures but I couldn't take the first bite fast enough. we went all the way with appetizers, salad, entrees, extra sides, multiple bar drinks, and dessert..... still coming in under $200 total tab. I can't wait to come back and try out all new items. The only suggestion I have is that when we walked in (first time) we asked the hostesses did we have to have a reservation or can we just walk in?.... We visited Ginocchio when we were visiting family in the area. The setting in an old restored building by the train station was nice. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. The steaks were very tasty. Just wish they offered a baked potato. That said, I would still recommend Ginocchio and visit again if I'm in the area. read more

Everyone was very welcoming and kind. The venue has so much charm and the food is absolutely delicious! It was hard to decide on just one thing. After a long drive, I decided to treat myself to a cocktail and a steak. Kaitlyn made a refreshing gin cocktail by muddling a cucumber for me and answered all my menu questions. When in Texas, the ribeye better be good, and i was not disappointed. The surprise of the evening was the crab cake. Excellent place, 5 stars without any doubt for all courses. I polished my plates and was not willing to share my desert after I tried it. Fresh oysters, excellent venison, steaks and fish were very good. Desert ( I had a bread pudding and regret I did not order a double portion) was totally a Michelin star level. A very nice place with history to it. We didn't have a reservation so we sat at a tabletop in the bar area. On a cold day a hot toddy was in good order and it was served perfectly. The bread tray was unique, we were not offered a salad choice prior to dinner and skipped any appetizers. The entrees were very good. Side of mashed potatoes was different (think a scooped baked potato smashed with sour cream). Red potatoes and green beans were also good. The first floor of the old Ginocchio Hotel has been beautifully restored to serve as an upscale restaurant. The food is really good. The chef-driven menu is unique. But, IMHO, the menu needs to be broadened. How about a burger or a CFS? This is Texas, after all. A variety of menu items, affordably priced, would make folks want to come back more often. I'm in sales and customer services. I came in an hour before posted closing time with 2 clients. The hostess station was unattended. At this position you cannot see the seating area. After a five or six minute wait we walked in to the dining/bar room and sat at the bar. 2 staff members were tending a table of six(the only table and obvious locals) they disappeared to the back and a bar tender came out 3-4 minutes later. We ordered a cocktail each and requested a menu only to be advised the kitchen was closed. It is now about 48 minutes till closing. After building up my client's appetite, based on reviews posted, I was not only embarrassed but have now lost SEVERAL credibility points with my guests. I usually give second chances. Professionals know anything can go wrong with anything at anytime and most are very understanding and forgiving. I saw nothing that would give me the confidence to go back. Went for our anniversary and really enjoyed it! The bartender Ansley was very nice and her martini was very good!! Our salmon and snapper was terrific. The raw oysters were spectacular and my artichoke appetizer was delicious!!! A VERY nice gentleman next to us named Stoney heard us tell Ansley it was our anniversary and when we got ready to pay Ansley informed us that Stoney had taken care of our bill for us!!! What a blessing!! I was really touched by Stoney's generosity and kindness. We felt truly special tonight!!!! We will definitely go back and even try some of their other menu items.
