Breakfast early morning at this small local cafe. Friendly staff. Food was served on paper plates but home cooked. Eggs breakfast was tasty. Biscuits were home made and warm. We were in the area at the state park and needed a place to meet our family for lunch. Very few places are open midweek, but we didn't need to keep looking because the Shady Glen Cafe met our needs quite nicely. The fried catfish plate was delicious and our side of fried okra filled the entire plate! The menu was small but had enough variety to meet the needs of all our party. Picked this place as a lunch stop for a weekend ride. Staff is super friendly, and hospitable. It's not very large but didn't have any problems getting a seat for lunch on Sunday. I ordered the chicken bacon ranch with onion rings. Sandwich was hot and tasty while the rings were crispy, but not over done. Will stop in the next time I'm in the area. read more

Shady Glade Cafe was a delicious breakfast after the wonderful boat tour on Caddo Lake. The small staff at Shady Glade make you feel like part of the family. I made the right choice with the buttermilk pancakes and bacon!! The pancakes were so fluffy; I can never make mine that good. UPDATE - SHADY GLADE CAFE IS OPEN A bare bones lakeside diner with a basic menu. It will do in a pinch. Nothing stood out as great. The fried items were good. One of us had a BLT. The tired sliced bread took it down a notch. It's a public service to have this cafe here since there are literally no other options available nearby. Our server was new on the job and very friendly Best to call to find our if they are open before driving out to Uncertain. read more

Hush puppies had great potential, but were over cooked the day we were there. I still ate many. Did I mention the whole catfish was delicious. Reminded me of the days we would fish with my grandma and then she would cook it up fresh. The corn meal coating was right on and not too salty. Good food, reasonable prices, friendly people! The Chicken fried steak is huge and made with real steak. The Sasquatch burger is the best hamburger I've ever had, on a slightly spicy jalapeño bun, with bacon and a huge hand made burger patty. Lots of character in this place, sitting on the edge of Caddo Lake. Service is friendly but the kitchen is small, so don't be in a hurry! It's all worth the wait. read more

We had an omelette, the cajun hash browns, and biscuits and gravy. All were excellent, cooked perfectly ; omelette not over cooked, crispy bacon, flaky tender biscuits. And the service was super friendly and attentive. They must have come back to our table 4-5 times for coffee refills, etc. And the buttermilk pie was perfect. First visit was in 2019, will be back. Ok, I know we're out in the middle of no where but... Ordered chili dog. Out of hot dogs. Ordered chili fries without jalapenos. It came with jalapenos. Kid ordered fried pickles. Out of pickles. Hubby ordered steak fingers. Yuck. Ordered Italian dressing on his salad. Out of Italian dressing. Floors were so dirty. The bathroom is around the side of the building. Maybe it was because I was so hungry after paddling around the lake, but I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here. They started us off with some complimentary fried pickles (sliced across, the good way). Then I ordered the best fried bologna sandwich I've ever had. My wife had a patty melt, reported it was cooked perfectly. Accompanying seasoned fries were also great. And just to top it off, we shared a slice of coconut cream pie, which was excellent. Service was very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back. My wife, son and I visited the Shady Glade Café on February 27, 2016. When we arrived we were the only ones in the restaurant. The waitress came over to take our drink orders and my son who is 33, asked if they gave free refills. She said yes, so we ordered our drinks. He always drinks a lot, that's why he likes free refills. I like free refills too, who doesn't? We started looking over the menus and when she came back to take our food order he had finished his first glass of soda. He asked for a refill. She took our orders and then got him a refill. I might add that from that point on she never came back to our table to see if we needed anything. While we were waiting for our food, I think it was the owner that came around to say hello, and asked if she could get us anything? My son asked for another refill. She took his cup and came back with a refill in a bigger cup and said here, I brought you a bigger cup. Our food arrived and we started eating. Towards the end of our meal I thought I would go up to the counter to get my drink refilled, because our waitress gave such poor service and never came back to our table. My son said, here fill mine up too. I gave the waitress our cups for refills. She started refilling his cup and the owner comes out of the kitchen, points to his cup and says, that's going to be $1.99. She looks at me and says, I know what he's doing. I said, what is he doing? Your waitress said in the beginning that you give free refills. She says to me, that's the kind of thing that will put people out of business. She pointed at the syrup containers and said that one of those costs her $95.00. I reminded her that the waitress told us before we ordered that the restaurant gives free refills. She didn't say anything about a limit. I told her that I've gone to a lot of restaurants in my lifetime and no one has ever said that to me. She said "REALLY"? I said, your waitress should have told us that there was a limit when we originally asked. She agreed and said, yes she should have. So, scold your waitress not me! I didn't want to cause any trouble so I said, give me the check and I'm not paying $1.99. People, "BEWARE OF THIS WOMAN" when you go to this restaurant in Uncertain TX. This woman was rude, inhospitable, and certainly has no business experience in my view to assess any questionable situation. I'm thinking she is under a lot of stress due to thin profit margins and says they give free refills without really standing behind that policy.
