We sat on the patio, mainly because we have two small dogs, but honestly, I wouldn't have had it any other way. The outdoor seating is literally right on the river, which is something I absolutely love. Granted, visiting in September means there are quite a few insects around, but that's just nature doing its thing! And, of course, being so close to the river comes with its little extras :) The service was absolutely impeccable. Abby, who took care of us, was attentive without being overbearing -- exactly the kind of service I appreciate. As for the food, they brought out freshly fried jalapeño hush puppies (?) (I think that's what they're called), along with fresh coleslaw and pickled goodies. They totally hit the spot! We then tried the cattle fish fillets, which was delicious and super fresh, as well as the grilled shrimp -- so good! The hand-cut fries and fried okra were also great. Honestly, I wish I lived closer so I could make this my regular weekly eating-out spot. Between the riverfront atmosphere, fantastic service and really good food, it's exactly the kind of place I love. And, of course, plenty of free parking!

So I wondered on over and looked over their menu. Lots of good options and I selected Cowboy Chicken Sandwich. I chose well. Nice thick crispy fried chicken breast, a couple slices of bacon, melted American cheese and a hand battered onion ring on top. I got the BBQ on the side since it was a to-go order. This sandwich did not disappoint. Everything worked. The BBQ sauce had just enough of a bite very good. The only thing I would do different is sub the fries for onion rings. The fries were frozen from a bag. The ORs were hand battered and d do good.

We ordered the pork chop over cheese grits with bacon and a mushroom red wine glaze--rich, savory, and melt-in-your-mouth perfection--and the Mardi Gras sandwich (OUR FAVORITE!) with French onion soup, which came bubbling with golden cheese on top and the most flavorful broth. The housemade bread is unbelievable--soft, warm, and served with maple butter that's dangerously addictive. Our meal started with a fresh salad and ended with the sweetest touch: tiny mint chocolate chip cookies that came with the check. Every detail felt thoughtful and homemade.
