We mostly just relaxed by the big lake and just soaked it all in. If you want a real East Texas getaway--Deer Lake is the place!!

The property has so much to offer, and despite one disappointing aspect of my visit, I genuinely look forward to returning with my family. Accommodations: The room was absolutely amazing! The hotel itself was bright, beautiful, and inviting. The overall environment made a wonderful impression and contributed to a pleasant stay. Food & Drinks: The drinks at the bar were amazing! This was definitely another highlight of my visit and added to the enjoyment of my time at the hotel. Customer Service: Unfortunately, the front desk staff came across as a bit rude and dismissive. Their demeanor lacked the warmth and hospitality I would expect from a hotel of this caliber. While this didn't overshadow everything else, it was noticeable and could certainly use improvement. Ambiance: The hotel has a wonderful atmosphere that makes it an enjoyable place to stay. Overall, Margaritaville is a beautiful property with excellent accommodations and fantastic drinks. All the amenities were there, iron and ironing board, plenty of towels, we got 2 bottles of water, coffee and the room was spacious. Conveniently located right off the highway. The casino was nice too, free drinks for players and they actually had a cart they pushed around to make drinks, as another option. Waitresses were walking around too for drink orders. We got margaritas and beer but they served everything. The casino hostess was not friendly but we dealt with her real quick to get our cards.

Friendly deer families walk freely to your cabin in the woods. On my walk this morning I saw at least 20 deer. They are used to human presence as they do not run away when you approach them. For more vacation fun you can take a 45 min drive to the closest city Tyler, Texas and enjoy the famous Tyler Rose Garden. The one bedroom units are huge- a two story loft with 3 beds will comfortably sleep 6 people. The cabins are very cozy and fully stocked. I love the unique rustic furniture. The beds are very comfortable. It felt like having a house to yourself. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Spotty cell service and limited wifi. The views everywhere are spectacular. This wonderful resort is in the middle of the picturesque 3500-acre gated community of Holly Lake Ranch. Whether you appreciate quiet lakes, 18-hole golf course, hiking trails or just being in the great outdoors of East Texas this resort is the place for you! I hope heaven looks like Holly Lake Resort. When we visit them, we do not spend much time on the lake because we like to stare at it while sitting in their big swing sipping Prosecco. There are cranes, feral hogs, deer, unique birds and other wildlife in this part of Texas. Should I mention we heard banjos playing in the pines...? The "Ranch" development offers a golf course, restaurant, tennis courts, miniature golf and boating. Lush dogwoods were in bloom when we were there recently, along with beautiful wildflowers and tall pines. I think when I die, heaven will look like Holly Lake Ranch.

Twin Lakes Resort, TX. We have rented both VRBO and AIRBNB…read more We want to separate the review into two parts: The "Resort" and the "Tiny Home" because the home is privately owned. The good stuff first: The water tastes good and I drink water 24/7 so that was nice. The pools are open and refreshing even in this Sept. heat. The staff is super nice and made us feel welcome. The overall appearance of the grounds is neat and clean. We especially appreciated the natural surroundings and the lake for our Labrador. That was a big bonus for us. Now the bad stuff: Resort had two of the main features were out of service. The simulated golf and the water park were both closed during our entire 2 week stay. We felt like those two items are what really made this resort stand out and one of the reasons we chose to stay here. We are here to visit our daughter and granddaughter and expected to enjoy the resort with them. On top of that, the WiFi is not strong enough to support the needs of the park. Most of the time we couldn't even watch TV. We had reported this on day one and they said they would ask corporate to assist with a router or a solution but nothing ever happened. Perhaps the owner didn't respond? We do have good cell service both Verizon and AT&T. So scrolling most nights. The game room is fun but the equipment is old and crooked. The pool table FELT is shot and it leans to one side, the shuffleboard table leans to one side. The air hockey table would not work. There was no ping pong paddles or balls to play in the bigger game room. We had our checkout date wrong and "corporate called us and charged us another night without any discount for making it a full 2 weeks thus a weekly rate... Oh no it had to be a "new contract". So we paid full price even though we didn't begin to get our moneys worth at A BROKEN DOWN RESORT. TINY HOME: The home is basically clean and the beds are comfortable. The linens are fine. We had to purchase several items that were either missing or worn out: blow dryer, can opener, clothes hangers, ice trays, salt & pepper, all the dishes are plastic even the coffee cups. We bought real coffee cups IYKYK. Cookware & silverware were okay. The dryer had a couple inches of lint in the filter which isn't marked so not sure it's ever been found or cleaned. Again we were here for two weeks so we found "stuff". The cleaning supplies are limited. The resort did bring me some Lysol and trash bags when I asked. Wishes: Corporate and The owners should allow the GM a budget to keep the guests happy. Fix the WiFi for the whole park. Nicer dishes- we spent a lot of rent money to eat on plastic. A ceiling fan on the front porch would have been awesome. A piece of pool noodle around the bedframe leg. (May have broke my toe)

Stayed in Tiny Home #1 during Labor Day weekend. We had previously stayed here for July 4th last…read moreyear and had such a great experience, so we were really looking forward to coming back and having the same experience. Unfortunately, this stay was very disappointing. When we arrived, the house was extremely hot. There was a note stating not to lower the temperature below 70 degrees, but the house felt more like 78-80 degrees because the AC simply could not keep up with the Texas heat. The bedroom was slightly cooler, but still not very comfortable. Thankfully, we brought a fan, and my parents had an extra fan for us to use so we could help circulate air from the bedroom into the main living area. The biggest issue, however, was that the house was infested with ants. They were everywhere. We found ant spray under the sink, which made it seem like this may be an ongoing issue, especially since it was the only thing stored under there. We used the spray and initially thought the problem was under control, but the ants quickly came back. Unfortunately, my daughter received multiple bites, as did my husband and I. We also found spiders inside the house and spider webs in several corners. We went to the office to report the issues. The person we spoke with did not really acknowledge or apologize for the situation. He got on his phone to talk to someone about it and told us that someone would come over to take care of the ant problem. We waited in the house for two hours, but no one ever showed up, and we never received any follow-up or communication. We were also disappointed with several of the amenities that were advertised. Inside the pickleball and shuffleboard area, there was nothing available to actually play the games with. There were no pickleball paddles, shuffleboard sticks, or any other equipment available. We spoke with a maintenance person about the missing equipment and were told it would be taken care of, but nothing ever happened. The fire pits also did not work. We had planned on using them to make s'mores, which was something we were really looking forward to, but we were unable to use them. We mentioned this issue to the same maintenance person, but again, nothing was done about it. Overall, several of the amenities advertised were simply not available or usable during our stay, which was very disappointing. I was really disappointed because our first stay here was amazing, which is why we decided to return. Before posting this review, I also read another review from only eight days ago mentioning the exact same issues. That makes it even more disappointing because it seems these problems may not have been addressed. This place is unfortunately not what we hoped it would be based on our previous experience. We really wanted to love our second stay as much as our first, but between the heat, the ant infestation, other bugs, unavailable amenities, non-working fire pits, and the lack of response or follow-through from staff, we left very disappointed.

It's worth a pop-in and whatnot, they have a nice, small patio in the back, with maybe the best view in all of Bossier Parish. On the inside, there was a tv on the wall, with a Lifetime movie on, oddly enough. And the clerk, totally transfixed, totally into it. With the woman on the screen bawling her eyes out about something or other. Not exactly the pregame I was expecting to pump me up for fishing.
