Pork Chop and Cheese Grits
Madison M.

The Austin Street Bistro is one of those rare finds that instantly makes you want to come back. The atmosphere is so cozy and welcoming--perfect for a relaxed lunch/dinner or special occasion. Everything is made fresh, and you can taste the difference in every bite. We ordered the pork chop over cheese grits with bacon and a mushroom red wine glaze--rich, savory, and melt-in-your-mouth perfection--and the Mardi Gras sandwich (OUR FAVORITE!) with French onion soup, which came bubbling with golden cheese on top and the most flavorful broth. The housemade bread is unbelievable--soft, warm, and served with maple butter that's dangerously addictive. Our meal started with a fresh salad and ended with the sweetest touch: tiny mint chocolate chip cookies that came with the check. Every detail felt thoughtful and homemade. It's a small staff, so don't expect to be in and out quickly, but the service is attentive and personal--absolutely worth the wait. A true local treasure with food that feels like it was made just for you.

Oh. My. Word. The locals recommended we try the Austin Street Bistro and I'm glad we listened. When we first arrived, who I assume was the owner asked us to come back in 10-15 minutes so her crew could take a needed break - that type of leadership impressed me. She risked losing paying customers to prioritize her team. Wow. Now on to the food. We had the Asian chicken salad - incredible - and corned beef sandwich- also amazing. Their special bread is dessert like and they even served little oatmeal cookies for post dinner. The atmosphere is comfortable and very authentically "bistro". Everyone was kind and the food was amazing. This is a MUSTY place - I must return again!

Had never been to Jefferson and wanted something different..I had never eaten at a bistro before and I'm glad this was the first one. The building itself was built in the 1820s and has been a bistro for 16 years...its very eclectic in decor and the servers were very friendly and attentive. This may not be the best place to bring young kids although they do have a nice kids menu. I had the club sandwich with side salad and my wife had the grilled cheese and tomato soup..all of which was scratch made including the bread. Also the menu had lots of options. On top of all that ..the area and architecture looks like Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Definitely worth the stop.

We stopped in for dinner, and really enjoyed this cozy little place! It's very small, with just a few tables and a small bar. Salad was chopped greens in a vinaigrette, served with their homemade bread in maple butter. We both got the pork chop, which was so tender that it fell apart! The sauce and grits were delicious! We finished the meal by sharing a yummy turtle cheesecake. Service was great and the waitress kept our glasses full. We would gladly return and try more dishes!

We ordered the charcuterie board. It was exactly what we were craving, fresh, delicious, and a good variety. We loved the ambiance. It was cozy and staff was welcoming.

Delicious!

Nice little place. Service was great. I had a dish called rooster skin. Was a flavor bomb of a dish. Hats off to the chef and staff.

I had the BLT... It was ok. Iced Tea tastes old…read moreHusband had CFSteak, fries, veg blend, and roll. I tasted the fries...they were mealy with no flavor. Tasted the CFSteak, the coating tasted like it was made with old flour. The roll was on the well done side. Manager brought out a sample of white chicken chili...the chicken had no flavor, too much cumin and not enough salt; the broth was flavorless and weak. Husband didn't want me to say anything, but they need to know, hence the review. The three stars is for the BLT. It would be one star for everything else.

I was so disappointed! A little over a month ago my hubby and I found this little diner and…read morethought, we'll give it a shot. It was the best food we had ever eaten (I had a chicken fried steak sandwich and he had the dbl meat, dbl cheese burger). We were so happy with the food that we were willing to over look the fact that it took almost an hour to get our food with only 2 other tables there before us (granted one of them had maybe 6 or 7 ppl at it but still) We were passing though this past weekend and decided we would go back for lunch. I don't know if the ownership has changed again since maybe the end of October/early November but the menu had all changed, there was nothing there off the menu we had the 1st visit. The cook appeared to be the same cook but this time there was more help working, he had an assistant (a younger boy, looked about 7 or 18) and I suspect he was working the grill but the wait time was still the same, if not worse and sad to say the food was not that good this time. Maybe it was just that I had my mouth watered for the best CFS sandwich ever but I ordered a grilled ham and cheese sandwich with tots (supposed to have pepperjack and cheddar cheese - there was no pepperjack and the bread was a little more toasty than I like) BUT my hubby had the chicken and bacon waffle and it was completely gross. The waffle was way too dense and almost too much to eat and the chicken was almost burnt on the outside and almost not done on the inside. I can overlook long cooking times if the food is awesome, which it was the 1st time we were here, but if you are going to serve ehh food WITH almost an hour wait time then count me out! Probably won't be coming back which is a shame b/c I really liked this place.
