The thanksgiving sandwich was delicious. Everyone in my party loved their food. I was recommended this place and it was definitely worth it.

What a Sweet lil' spot! Drove from San Antonio to do some antique shopping. And happened upon the Bistro. We partook in a Scrumptious Chinese Chicken Salad was extremely satisfying! The Service was Great as well. Cute interior. We'll be back!!! read more

The Austin Street Bistro is one of those rare finds that instantly makes you want to come back. The atmosphere is so cozy and welcoming--perfect for a relaxed lunch/dinner or special occasion. Everything is made fresh, and you can taste the difference in every bite. We ordered the pork chop over cheese grits with bacon and a mushroom red wine glaze--rich, savory, and melt-in-your-mouth perfection--and the Mardi Gras sandwich (OUR FAVORITE!) with French onion soup, which came bubbling with golden cheese on top and the most flavorful broth. The housemade bread is unbelievable--soft, warm, and served with maple butter that's dangerously addictive. Our meal started with a fresh salad and ended with the sweetest touch: tiny mint chocolate chip cookies that came with the check. Every detail felt thoughtful and homemade. It's a small staff, so don't expect to be in and out quickly, but the service is attentive and personal--absolutely worth the wait. A true local treasure with food that feels like it was made just for you. read more

A local gem! We stopped here for lunch and had a very delicious couple of sandwiches in a very cozy space that reminded us of an old-fashioned tea parlor. The club sandwich and artisan cheese sandwich were both delicious and worth the price, The service was quick and friendly. Nice place to slow down and relax! read more

Amazing service and food! Wandered in after wandering Jefferson. Smelled amazing when we entered! All sauces are gluten free, but no gluten free pasta. I had the salmon and hubs had the pork. Bothered amazing! The flavors!!! The salmon was covered in pesto and pecans on a bed of jasmine e rice. Unbelievable!!! Hubs had the pork chop on grits. Nott a huge pork fan myself but this was Unbelievable!!!! Melt in your mouth pork with a red wine mushroom reduction over grits. Paired it with an exceptional bottle of chianti. Kara took great care of us and did not lead me astray with the salmon recommendation!!! We will definitely be back! read more

Oh. My. Word. The locals recommended we try the Austin Street Bistro and I'm glad we listened. When we first arrived, who I assume was the owner asked us to come back in 10-15 minutes so her crew could take a needed break - that type of leadership impressed me. She risked losing paying customers to prioritize her team. Wow. Now on to the food. We had the Asian chicken salad - incredible - and corned beef sandwich- also amazing. Their special bread is dessert like and they even served little oatmeal cookies for post dinner. The atmosphere is comfortable and very authentically "bistro". Everyone was kind and the food was amazing. This is a MUSTY place - I must return again! read more

Gina and her staff are wonderful. Everything is made fresh, even the bread! It's always a good day when I get to have a leisurely lunch (with wine of course)at Austin Street Bistro. This visit was a Birthday lunch for my mom. We sat at the window table and enjoyed the sunny day and people watching. Mom ordered tomato basil soup and a chicken salad sandwich made on the delicious homemade bread with the fruit cobbler a la mode for dessert. I finally ordered something I've been eyeballing for awhile; the Super Food Salad. Wow! I managed to eat two thirds of this monster and took the rest home for my husband to try. I'm still craving it! Best Salad I've ever had!!! Hubby liked it a lot also. When you visit for lunch or dinner get the potatoes, they are roasted with a special oil mixture that is amazing. read more

I had the onion soup and chicken salad sandwich. My husband had the grilled cheese sandwich with tomato basil soup. The grilled cheese was open face and delicious. Everything was delicious. We returned the next day for dinner. My husband had the bistro salad and I had a bowl of tomato basil soup. Wish we lived closer so we could come more often! Wonderful! read more

My wife and I come to Jefferson often to celebrate our anniversary. The food at this restaurant will not disappoint. Honestly, this is the best food I've ever had in my life and I'm 50. Hi, this is wife. I talked to the beautiful owner and chef. She showed me her immaculate kitchen. She really cares about nourishing people and her love is in the food! If you want to experience food at its best, this is the place!!!! read more

Nice atmosphere. The sandwiches were ok. The tomato basil soup was terrible (tasted like it was made in a coffee machine) neither my husband nor I ate it. And costly for what you get. Perhaps if we get something different. Will try again maybe. We will stick with the cornbread place. read more

While we read good reviews about the pork it is nothing like we ever had and not very good. Onion soup good and salads included. Potato soup good. Service great and not many folks there on Saturday night. read more

Amazing food!!!!! Relaxing atmosphere. We met the chef. She is passionate about great food and it shows in all the dishes we had. My husband said the salmon was THE BEST he has ever had. The egg salad sandwich and house salad was amazing. Did I mention the food was AMAZING?!?!? read more

I ordered the chicken fried steak. One of the best I ever had. The wait, less than an hour and a half probably an hour and fifteen minutes, was frazzling and destructive to my time and the experience. read more

Very good food. Unique sandwiches. But very pricey. We went there for lunch. And sandwiches were $24. Just keep that in mind. But great atmosphere and great food. Service was good. I only gave it three stars because of the price for lunch. read more

Had never been to Jefferson and wanted something different..I had never eaten at a bistro before and I'm glad this was the first one. The building itself was built in the 1820s and has been a bistro for 16 years...its very eclectic in decor and the servers were very friendly and attentive. This may not be the best place to bring young kids although they do have a nice kids menu. I had the club sandwich with side salad and my wife had the grilled cheese and tomato soup..all of which was scratch made including the bread. Also the menu had lots of options. On top of all that ..the area and architecture looks like Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Definitely worth the stop. read more

Nice place for lunch and dinner. Very cozy and good food. Feels like very intimate setting

We stopped in for dinner, and really enjoyed this cozy little place! It's very small, with just a few tables and a small bar. Salad was chopped greens in a vinaigrette, served with their homemade bread in maple butter. We both got the pork chop, which was so tender that it fell apart! The sauce and grits were delicious! We finished the meal by sharing a yummy turtle cheesecake. Service was great and the waitress kept our glasses full. We would gladly return and try more dishes! read more

I can't get enough of this place! It feels so refreshing every time I visit. The smothered pork chop has officially secured its spot as my go-to dish--it's just that good! We also ventured into trying the Pilgrim sandwich, and wow, it did not disappoint--it was equally delicious. The food is consistently amazing, and the service is always warm and friendly. Honestly, you do not want to miss out on this gem! read more

We visit the area about once a year. Our usual place was closed so we decided to try out this little bistro. It was an outstanding choice. The food and service were top notch. Getting the bread tray is a must if you have 2 or 3 to share with. read more

Verry quaint bistro but the staff had the doors wide open and we were overrun by all of the flies and small gnats fighting us for our food. The food was marginal at best. The onion soup was very watered down and the Italian sandwich was not as good as Jason Deli and twice the price. The pasta dish was pretty bland and the accompanying salad was terrible because of the weird dressing. The sweet tea wasn't sweet at all. The service was excellent and the young lady was extremely attentive. My wife, granddaughter and I fought off flies for an hour and all of that for just shy of $100. Not up to our expectations. read more

Wow! Top 3 meal of 2021 so far. The four of us went a little early to beat the crowds and good thing we did, a car show was in town and surely spiked the business of the entire town. We had great service tonight and they even apologized for being slow. We didn't notice a bit and was it ever worth the wait. I had the smothered pork chop and whatever your pre-conceived notion of a pork chop is, just forget it! This butter soft chop came nestled neatly on top of a bed of smoked Gouda and jalapeño grits and topped with sautéed mushrooms that were perfectly cooked. I reached for my knife and realized I didn't need it. This was a fork only meal. My wife had the bistro salad that was simply amazing. Of course we had to share and it was an incredible combination. Our guests had the super food bowl with salmon and a side of the smoked Gouda grits and the tilapia filet with fresh basil and roasted garlic. Every meal was perfect and it was fun to see other dishes coming out and being served. The bistro is small and almost family style as we all enjoyed gawking at each dish going by. We will be back again soon. It's only a 45 minute drive so this may be date night on a regular basis. Thanks for a memorable evening. read more

It has been a while since I've been to the Austin Street bistro but the food was always excellent and I love the ambience.

What a delightful find! The service was kind, the food was comforting, fresh, and delicious. Everyone loved their dishes. We had the superfoods bowl with salmon, vegetable lasagna, egg salad, and shepherd's pie. Portions were very generous- in hindsight we would have ordered less. The rolls that came with our meals were complete candy with the maple honey butter and we didn't hate it at all. They were out of cookies when we finished our meal so we were offered a dessert instead. The bread pudding was super rich and totally devoured. read more

I can't recommend. To start, the food was marginal and very overpriced. You expect an $18 soup and sandwich lunch-sized plate to be pretty gourmet special, right? The French onion didn't come with croutons and when we asked for some, we were told since it was a combo plate, croutons could not be included (what!?! ). Remember, this was an $18 CUP of soup with a HALF sandwich. The artisan grilled cheese was basically a glorified piece of cheese toast. Not a sandwich. The crouton-less French onion was broth with undercooked stewed onions (not caramelized). Although the tuna salad was weirdly sweet, it was edible. The tomato basil soup was pretty good. The waitress seemed more interested in laying down the law on menu restrictions (only certain soups come with certain sandwiches) than in providing timely customer focus. A pretty disappointing experience that won't be repeated next time. read more

WOW!! This bistro is on top on my list when I come to Jefferson. I got the chicken salad with strawberries and apples and smoked crumbled Gouda... I've never had a salad more made with love than this one. For real !!! I also got the tomato basil soup that was just as spectacular but the star of this show was most definitely the grilled oatmeal molasses bread drizzled with maple butter ..I cannot wait to come back and try the pecan crusted salmon read more

The food was so good. I started with a glass of the house red and loved it (x 2, lol). They brought unused salads since we ordered entrees and they were excellent. I got the shrimp scampi and it was to die for. i enjoyed every bite. And every shrimp. My friend got the spaghetti and it was oh so good. My friends child got the bread pudding. Oh to be young and not have to count calories. I'm looking forward to coming back next time I'm in town read more

I would put this place up against any restaurant I have dined at, including a Michelin two star in Paris. Well, admittedly I've gotten fancier service, better ambiance, and even more memorable food in my years of dining out, but Austin Street Bistro holds its own very well. The 1 1/4" thick pork chop on grits was quite good and could have fed two of us. It came with a chopped salad that disappeared completely from its plate. But the best part was the small piece of hot bread with melted butter and molasses that arrived right off the bat. I've always found that if the bread is good, you know you're in the right place. Oh, and the ambiance was good too. Fresh flowers on each table, a Klimt and a Rivera on the wall. I'll be back for sure! read more

Delicious lunch , lovely service , super cute place ! Get the veggie sandwich - to die for !

I would give 6 stars if I could. The atmosphere is quaint, the service is friendly and welcoming. THE FOOD is divine, unique flavors blended together. Nice little place. Service was great. I had a dish called rooster skin. Was a flavor bomb of a dish. Hats off to the chef and staff.

Super disappointed in the customer service and the food. The waitress was really sweet, but the owner Gina was beyond rude. I don't feel there's a reason to be rude to customers who support you as a small business owner. I will never come here again, that's for sure. The Marinara tasted like sugar with cloves/potpourri. Absolutely disgusting. Worst marinara I've ever had if I'm being truthful. Do better. Save your money and go somewhere else where the owner appreciates your business. Because this one- certainly does NOT! read more
