Stopped here for our morning coffee while passing through Marshall, on our way to California. The coffee is super smooth and the flavoring is house made. My husband was very happy with his sugar free vanilla latte and I was over the moon with my Sweet Bee Latte (honeysuckle and cinnamon). The staff were nice and helpful and the ambiance of the space was very welcoming. The location is located on a picturesque downtown street. I recommend coming here if you have the chance. read more

What a divine coffee spot to find in the middle of Marshall, Texas! I happened to be passing through before having to head back to the big city and was drawn to this spot after a quick search for coffee nearby. Upon walking in I loved the aesthetic they have going on in here. Everything feels and looks clean and modern - just my style! I came in on a week day morning and I was not the only person working and enjoying her coffee and pastry as I tinkered away at my work task list. I really loved the small area of merchandise on the right side once you enter in to the coffee spot. I saw some cool artwork and artisan goods that I could not help myself but grab both a mustard vintage-style keychain that says "Marshall" on it and a simple yet modern East Texas art print. I saw some Joe Pine Coffee merch too if you want to rep and support a really cool local spot. For my order I stuck to a classic hot mocha that turned out to be delicious and hit the spot. The dishware used for coffees and "for here" orders is so cute and just completes the modern aesthetic I love about Joe Pine's Coffee. This spot has just good vibes to hang out, work, read, and support a local spot. The patio was a spot I didn't notice until I was sitting inside at a table. There is a colorful mural outside and natural lighting and plants that would make for a really great selfie or group shot of yourself or/ and the folks you bring with you. This place is EXACTLY what you think of when you imagine a coffee shop. Warm tones, fun decor, cool vibes, and GREAT coffee! Except that they don't do flat whites. And they don't have heavy cream. But I'm determined that we're getting a cuppa today to support the small local place so the conversation with the barista felt a bit like a high stakes corporate negation until we settled on a decaf Americano with steamed almond milk. Lots of seating, including a few well loved leather high backs. The pinecone murals outside the wall of windows makes the place feel larger than the actual inside footprint. It feels light and airy inside, really bringing the Pacific Northwest coast vibes here. Love it. Coffee is hot, cup is literally full to the brim. It's no flat white with heavy cream, but it's smooth and flavorful and will hit the spot this morning. It's a 5 star place for sure, but 4 stars from us b/c we couldn't get "the usual." read more

1st time!! I was in town for an appointment and found this shop via Yelp! It was less than 2 miles away. I had to give a try! A true winner indeed. This little cafe feels so cozy immediately upon entry. There was a barista all smiles waiting to take my order. I ordered a caramel latte. I was able to watch as it was being prepared. I live about 3 hours from Marshall but I have actually made the drive just to get Joe Pine. I always make sure to stop by when I'm in Marshall at the least. A lot of independent coffee shops have coffee that tastes a little TOO homemade or just straight up tastes like dirt but that is not the case here! The coffee at Joe Pine has its own signature taste unlike any other shop or homemade coffee. It never has that sour or tangy taste, the coffee always comes out a mild roast with that amazing deep bitter taste. I love the ambiance as well it's always quiet enough to get work done but not in a weird dead silence type of way. Yeah... I just love it. read more

What can I say about this place? It's really simple. The expression, "First impressions are everything." rings soundly true here at Joe Pine. I visited this place for a political event, not even knowing that it existed. Ordered a cappuccino, which is really simple, but so many places get wrong. Joe Pine nailed it! They have three sizes of coffee, and they recommend the smallest for their normal brewed cappuccino, and with good reason. It is bold, but not overwhelming, and there is very little froth on top, which is a great departure away from the overly foamy nonsense you get from Starbucks, and other coffee houses. The place is quaintly set in the downtown area of Marshall, TX. With several places to sit down inside, and a spacious patio about 1 block away from the historic courthouse, the menu is simple, and the place is spotless. WIFI is available, as you would expect in any establishment of this type, and certainly a college town. About 5 days later I brought the entire family. Once again they nailed the brewing, and my whole family had nothing but glowing remarks about the place. My only regret is, I have to drive about 1 hour away to get a decent cup of Joe in the Longview/Marshall area. If you are looking for good coffee, Joe Pine is really the only choice in this part of East Texas. read more

This is a great coffee shop near an AirBnB we were staying. Clean interior with eye pleasing decor and a cool neon sign that reads "Joe Loves Marshall" on the wall that caught my attention. Staff is responsive and waited patiently for us to review menus. Cold brew with sweet cream was very good cold brew coffee and they even gave me a small cup of the sweet cream on the side to add to my taste so I could get the ratio to specs which most places don't seem to offer. Highly recommend trying - I would be a regular here and try some of the other interesting drinks on their menu if this shop was in my home area! read more

The second star is just because the drip coffee is decent. Seriously, though, when I go into a coffee shop that has a Chemex behind the counter, I'd like to be able to get a pour over. I tried to order a Chemex pour over, and they told me they could only make a multi cup shareable portion in the Chemex - for a single cup they only have pre-made drip coffee. They said their Chemex "recipe" (it's a ratio dude, it's just coffee and water) wasn't for single cups. Joe, bro, you've got a great look, the shop is cool. If you're gonna look like a hipster coffee shop, you're going to need to serve pour over coffee when people want it. It's a pretty easy fix, just have your baristas Google how to use a scale. Yelp was the reason I found this place and I'm bet grateful for anyone who left reviews before me. This is a really nice place to sit and study or get work done while enjoying the charm of downtown Marshall and enjoying some nice pastries. The decor is warm and the space is nice and open. The free wifi was a blessing and so were the electrical outlets in case you need to camp out a while. The staff is mainly college students and ther'ye all quite friendly. One of the employees, Noah, was studying before his shift and graciously hared his laptop charger with me for a couple hours. I've found my new office space for whenever I'm in town and need to be productive. read more
