Its always suspicious when someone writes a review of 1 star, and reviews another small cafe and gives that a 1 star review and then mentions another place during the review and says how great it is. Decent little hole in the wall spot! Food is okay, extra points for being one of only 3 restaurants in the area. The service is definitely spot-on and ultra friendly! I tried the breakfast sandwich...it was good, but "boring" good. I'll definitely venture out and try something else next time. It depends on who is running the bar. One guy does a great job with a personal touch...5 stars when he is running it. Other guy is sub-par. Not a great attitude and not as good with the drinks. He brings it down. read more

Took the family only once and don't think we will go back. The food was good but the girl behind the counter was frowning and seemed put out about answering questions. I told her it was our first time there. I had the catfish which was good but the hush puppies were burnt. I didn't want to bother unhappy girl to try and get it fixed. read more

Rustic feel bar/restaurant with great atmosphere. I love that they have a fireplace and patio area in the back. The drink selections are plentiful; there's something for everyone. The food is excellent including the appetizers, sandwiches and the wood fired pizza is one of the best I've tasted in the entire DFW area. I highly recommend this eatery. read more

The Cotton Gin Cafe is the only place I know of, in DFW, that serves an authentic pork tenderloin sandwich. It's served with mustard, onions, and pickles, just like you get it in the mid-West. YUM! My Dad lives with us in Prosper, but originally from Chicago, and he is down there just about every other week in search of that sandwich. The daily specials are really good, and the desserts are good if you have the room. Portions are split-able. The place does get busy, so there are lines many times we've been there. But, if they're busy, we'll do takeout. If they aren't busy, it's a great place to spend time with family, good friends, and neighbors. We're a small and friendly town. A couple weeks ago, a group of 8/9 of us came here for dinner/drinks. We got there around 6:30 and wanted to sit outside, but the tables were full. We explained to Vaite that we wanted to be outside but it was okay if we weren't. Fast forward... she got us a spot outside. She. Is. WONDERFUL. I feel like we were THAT table that had her running around all night and she never missed a beat. She made sure we had everything we wanted and more! We ordered several bottles of wine (drank them out of one YIKES) and multiple people were drinking beer. I have no idea how she kept up with our rowdy group, but she did. Super friendly staff. Wonderful pancakes and their cinnamon rolls are AMAZING! You can get a half pancake platter for 4 bucks. And they charge about 1$ for a drink! I love their burgers for lunch. read more

It's my local go to when I don't want to drive out far. It's the classic hole on the wall great for breakfast or lunch. Food has great flavor, inexpensive, clean tables and the dining room has character being such an old building. Coffee, meh. I can count on 3 fingers the number of places that serve a pork tenderloin sandwich in this region, and only 1 knows how to make it the way it's supposed to be--regular sized bun with a flattened breaded tenderloin way too big for the bun. And their fried pickles are by the far the best I have EVER had! The staff is always so friendly and it's so refreshing to see that kind of genuine smile every time we come in the door. As repeat and regular customers, I can only say that we were very disappointed with the last experience we had. Kids have to remain seated at the table (it's a family restaurant with an outdoor area for the kids or adults to hang out in) but their new policy prohibits that. So kids aren't allowed to sit outside alone. Then apparently on Saturdays they won't take your order between 10:50 to 11:30. Literally. Our server refused to take our order until 11:30 because they were too swamped. Also, all 3 servers who brought drinks complained about how short staffed they are which is fine but one of the servers seemed put out by it like it was our fault. As a customer I don't want to hear sob stories from my servers on how hard they have it. The restaurant was about 70% full by the way, plenty of empty tables. I briefly spoke with the manager about letting my kids sit outside and he told me to take them to the Silos food truck area for that, like he could care less if we were not happy. He said it was the owners decision. People, there are other places in prosper and Celina who value the repeat customer and strive to cater to the family. The gin doesn't. Went in tonight to see Austin Allen perform. Sat for 30 minutes and never got waited on. The guys behind us that got there after us got served and had two waitresses attending to their needs.
