Not so impressed by their service when I went to get a coffee to go. £2 for the coffee and they refused my £20 note and insisted I pay by card which charges 50p for transactions less than £10. Coffee is good but do they really expect to compete with Costa with service like that?!

Pancakes and porridge. Amazing

I'm from the states and this is the first time I've had porridge. Nothing to compare it to but I could eat here every day! I've also had pancakes (which I learned are scones) and they are amazing. Eggs Benedict was good although I got salmon when I ordered ham. No big deal since I like both. Service was excellent too when it was empty and packed.

Like Rob I stumbled across The Georgian while looking for a late coffee at 9pm to fill in time before my boyfriend got back from work. Costa was closed. I'd never gone past Nicolas but thought I might find somewhere. WOW. What a somewhere to find! This is the most beautiful coffee shop I've seen in ages; I loved the mismatched chairs and tables (sounds very over and familiar, but seems fresh and lovely here). There are shelves filled with colourful china and pictures, and a really pretty fruit stand, plus the usual suspects of cakes in glass covers. I had the most enormous black americano for £2.50 (very good) and if I hadn't had a box full of food ready for supper, I would gladly have persuaded the chap to stay for something to eat. Really enchanting and definitely worth visiting if you're in the area. Needless to say, will not be bothering with Costa again anytime soon.

Dish... wish I could remember the name

A great addition to the local scene, their twist on a full cooked breakfast is brilliant!

Review Highlights - The Georgian

Adorable little cafe featuring traditional Georgian fare, and (in my case) traditional English breakfast.

There is nothing pretentious about this pub at all. The interior is warm and hearty with the restaurant and beer garden wrapped in fairy lights, giving the pub a really genuine aura. The staff are friendly and helpful and I've found over the last few months that this is definitely *the* place to organise the odd birthday knees-up and casual get together. The food is absolutely faultless. The servings are as big as the pub's hearty warmth - and that's big. The specials menu is on constant rotation during the week and you can expect anything from a good old steak 'n' chips to Pollack served on a bed of curried rice. I don't have enough good words to say about The Jolly Gardeners. The casual atmosphere, food, friendly staff and big old vintage leather sofas culminate in its down-to-earth appeal and I highly recommend this pub if you ever happen to be passing along SW18's Garratt Lane.

Comfortable leather couches adorn the front section, and on occasion you'll find the service quite brisk. If you're from another country and you want to impress a local, The Jolly Gardener would be a good choice. They offer a range of British pub dishes and the usual selection of beers and spirits one gets accustomed to in London, in a small, intimate setting in an area that's really quite quiet given its Zone 3 location.

Opted for Upstairs as it seemed like a simpler version for dinner as a Michelin Bib Gourmand. Unlike Trinity on the street level, Upstairs was merely air-cooled, which made it for a sweaty and uncomfortable dining experience, even with all the windows fully open. There was an air conditioner that was switched off.. Service from the staff was decent when they were available. It seemed like they were short and only had 2 front of the house staff for the entire restaurant... Staff was able to guide me with suggestions which was helpful. Started the meal off with the black pudding fritters with walnut ketchup and it was lightly fried. I'm not sure I was a fan of black pudding though. Moved on to the devilled crab mayonnaise with little gem lettuce and I also didn't quite understand the dish. I saw little bits of crab inside the mayonnaise but didn't quite understand how it complemented the little gem lettuce?!? Did the BBQ octopus special and was surprised by the huge portion of 2 tentacles. The sauces that complemented the octopus was the highlight of this course. The octopus itself was odd, the skin was on the thicker side and the inside was mushy?!? Ended the meal off with the poached doughnut peaches, peach syllabub and this was the highlight of the meal. The peach syllabub was very light and fluffy. More importantly, it wasn't too sweet. The poached doughnut peaches were excellent. Courses on other tables looked tasty...perhaps I ordered the wrong items? ~£50/head after GST & Service.
