Stumbled upon while seeking sustenance near our hotel by Paddington station that wasn't a chain, wasn't on the noisy/fumey main drag, and had actual service. Voila! Lum helped us out with a lovely shaded sidewalk table right away despite the bustle. PERFECT cappuccino, probably best I've had all over England & Wales. Delicious "Eggs Royale" on very fresh muffins, lots of fresh spinach, perfectly poached eggs, clearly homemade hollandaise, and a nice pile of salmon. Just right ahead of a long travel day. Tiny place. Cramped seating. And the washroom (WC) is about the size of an airplane lavatory. Staff is VERY friendly and helpful. The bacon looks like ham, but tastes better than American ham. It isn't what Americans think of as bacon. I thought it was better than either American ham or bacon. That was part of the English breakfast ordered by another in our party. I ordered the Milanese sandwich. Only two slices salami on the Milanese. Should have been four to get the flavor of salami. Mostly tasted peppers and cheese. A bit of a let-down. Bread was good. If they had given more salami I would probably have given four stars. But I can't give any more than three stars for the meal I received. The English breakfast ordered by another person was better, but that wasn't my meal. The owners are Albanian, and if you request it you can get a few Albanian dishes. I was staying next door at the Indigo and wanted a simple fast Full English - Mimmos did the trick with a great Mum n Dad cafe - for £10 I got the eggs, banger, bacon and beans you expect with a mug of tea and toast. There are smaller options if you can't eat everything that comes with it but worth a try. You can't beat the price and the ease of getting here and ordering. They are quick and friendly. This is a cute little cafe. We went late on a Wednesday morning and it was really busy. It was chilly out and had to sit outside. Service was slow because it was busy. Our coffees were decent. The main reason we chose this place was because I wanted what is considered a "French Omelette" in the states. Unfortunately, what I received was much closer to an American style omelette, overdone with a crispy crust. The toast was fine. My husband ordered bacon and eggs. This is a super cute cafe in Paddington with a very friendly staff and regulars. How do I know they were regulars? Well when a regular walked in, they said their name! I was very hungry so I got the full breakfast and a cappuccino! The cappuccino came out the perfect temperature, and was the perfect little pick me up to start my day! Grabbed a bite to eat here while waiting for a Heathrow Express train to depart. I ordered a vegetarian english breakfast, which was good though the tomatoes were not. Could not determine if it was lack of good tomato season or just because they weren't grilled to be soft. With mushrooms instead of sausages, which were quite tasty. My mother and I ate here during a recent trip to London. We more or less wandered in looking for some food near our hotel to help us recover from the long flight into the city. And I liked what I saw at Mimos Cafe. Located within walking distance of Paddington Station and the hotels associated with it, I remember Mimos as being a nice, little shop that specialized in a variety of affordable meals. I did not come in for brunch, but for dinner, so my menu primarily listed pastas and sandwiches. Not only are the items affordable, but you get your money's worth from your meals here. For example, a single £4 panini was massive - large enough to be cut into three pieces! - and came with a small side salad, too. It was a lot of food, but it was enjoyable and I found it to be quite refreshing after a night of airline snacks. However, Mimos is admittedly a tiny place, so much so that when people began to come in to the cafe near the end of my meal the bathroom doors were blocked by guests, just due to the placement of the tables in the space that's available to them. With that in mind, it's probably not always the most comfortable of places to eat. That said, I will definitely remember this place - if not for the lovely staff, then for the kind locals who chit-chatted with my mother and I and welcomed us on our first day to the city with open arms. People like this make travel so much fun, and it's wonderful to know that a little cafe has that kind of environment to offer to tired (and yes, sometimes silly) tourists. read more
