Milk is an absolutely phenomenal brunch spot over in Balham. You cannot go wrong with anything on their menu. I adore their banana bread and their breakfast sandwiches. It's absolutely worth the trek over to Balham and I say this as someone who lived in Shoreditch and would trek over often

A nice, gourmet brunch place in upscale Balham. It's busy for weekend brunches for good reason: excellent takes on breakfast food that you can't create easily at home - this is what makes Milk better than your average greasy spoon-made hipstery brunch joint. They make excellent coffees and smoothies as well. Worth a try. The brunch dishes are creative and tasty, not overfilling and the atmosphere is easy going. The staff are super nice and eager to explain dishes and help.

Oh no now I'm that person with their picture on their yelp review... oh well, this coffee was exquisite.

I find myself thinking about my breakfast here often. My partner and I went out of our way to visit Milk (we stayed north of London and took a couple different trains to get here) and we don't regret it at all. The espresso was one of the best we had throughout our Europe trip, and the food was so creative. I had an eggs benedict, the eggs were poached perfectly. I also had a house kombucha that makes my mouth water just thinking about it. My partner had this amazing gravy/sausage/English muffin wonderful...thing. He loved it. To top it all off, we sat outside and the street it was on was too cute. Make sure to take a stroll around the neighborhood after an excellent meal at Milk.

Usually very sceptical of places with long queues not living up to the hype! I was put in my place by milk cafe though. We got there just before the line at about 11am, but when we were leaving it was really long. We had amazing sweetcorn fritters with haloumi, smoothies in milk bottles, and great coffee. Definitely can't complain with this brunch spot.

Visited Milk second time for brunch and they did not disappoint! Must try items: baked eggs, the convict, cornbread (a bit steep in price as they only give 1 slice of bread), horchata and table beer. There will be a bit of a wait so come prepared.

Who knew that there was such a delightfully hipster cafe in SW12?! Not me. Unexpected awesomeness. Bloody fantastic coffee. Delicious brunch.

I've lots of friends that live south and they've raved about M1lk for a while. This weekend I finally made it! Despite the long (but expected) queue it was fine as we stood in the sun and chatted until we were seated. I must say the staff were a bit rubbish at minimising the queue... We saw empty tables the entire time we were there and no rush to fill them. Not a fan of that! I am however a fan of the delicious food. We all had variations of the sweet Maria... Sweetcorn fritters with avocado and halloumi, topped with salsa, mine with added bacon and a poached egg. It was amazing! I couldn't stop talking about how tasty it was. I washed it down with the Lauren (it had to be done!)... Mango, banana and strawberry juice in a very fitting milk bottle. All in all it was a great brunch experience. Good food, lovely interior, nice setting. It was a little pricey, but I'm okay with that for a fab brunch!

Yaaaaaassss. This was the first brunch place I visited when I was fresh from Aus, cold, damp and ready to give up on ever finding a good coffee in London. It's kind of pricey, but serves up excellent food and coffee. Passes my Aussie snob test with flying colours. Portion sizes are slightly on the small side for the price, but perfect for me as I tend to have the appetite of a flea. If you're a very hungry human you may be slightly disappointed...or have to order two breakfasts....there are worse things.

Perfect little Melbourne style cafe to help ease the homesickness. Comforting to see Anzac biscuits and lamingtons on display. Went for brunch with an Aussie friend to recover from big Halloween night. I had the convict with yummy hangover sauce with a Lois Smoothie: blackberry, pear and lavender. My friend had a Lauren Smoothie: Mango, banana and strawberry with sour dough toast with plum and lavender jam. This was a very cozy cafe with a fantastic menu. Only felt it was missing a sweet option like pancakes. Defiantly will go again if in the Balham area. TIP: Expect a wait time for your table as there is usually a queue. We waited 10-15 minutes.

I really enjoyed this place! it has a funky hipster alt vibe in Balham... I mean their name is spray painted over the last business that used to be there so I almost walked past it as I couldn't read the sign from the street clearly. It was super busy when we arrived so we had to fight for a seat so come with some patience. I had the Kurdish Baked eggs with Chorizo, Spinach, Labneh, & Kirmizi Biber. Labneh is a beautiful touch it is a strained yogurt like cheese. Truly enjoyed my dish and will be sure to make another brunch date here soon! I would give it 5 starts if it had more variety on the menu and more seats!

5stars from me for this fabulous brunch spot! After a very tiring week, I was v.annoyed to find myself wide awake at 6.30am on a Saturday and I couldn't get back to sleep. Argh! I decided to make the best of it, and a flash of inspiration reminded me that I had bookmarked this place to visit for brunch sometime but I had pretty much decided I would never get there because it is very popular and they don't take bookings, and I'm not (usually) an early riser at the weekend and I do not like to queue for a table! It turns out that being wide awake at stupid o'clock can be the best thing to happen to you! I was about the 3rd person to arrived at m1lk shortly after it opened at 8am so I had my pick if the tables. I chose the best seat in the house, the table right in the tip of this flat-iron shaped building so I had views all around me of the street outside waking up, and the market setting up. It's a slightly self-consciously hipstery dude place - all beards and mismatched furniture and achingly artisanal produce like Brixton sourdough and hay smoked goats curds - but it kinda works and it has a relaxed, buzzy feel about it; and the food - oh my, the food is incredibly good. I ordered what seemed to be a favourite among the yelp reviewers - the sweet Maria sweetcorn pancakes (fritters?) with halloumi and salsa and dry cure bacon and avocado and it was divine. The pancakes were fluffy and sweet, the halloumi and the bacon were salty and savoury with just the right amount of charring to balance the fritters. The salsa was deliciously tangy and sweet and tomatoey - it tasted somehow like summer / and this too was the perfect balance to the creamy mashed avocado on the side. My accompanying flat white was gloriously malty. It's not a cheap brunch option but I don't mind paying a premium for such great quality food that sets you up for the day like this. I'd like to say i will definitely be back, but by the time j left at around 9.30am, the place was mobbed so the chances of me being awake early enough to get a table again are slim. In fact, no, scrub that - I will be back, even if I have to set my alarm clock. A brunch so good, I'd set my alarm at the weekend? There genuinely is no higher praise!

Bill the owner of 80 plus stores, originally had a shop in Brighton. All of the decor was what he had in his shop. The meal I had today has been the best meal I've had since arriving here. The service was excellent, decor a little weird but pleasant. Cindy was (our waitress) so lovely. She was pleasant, knowledgeable and was able to make suggestions in regards to the menu and of course gave us a history lesson about the company. My steak was cooked to perfectly, chips lovely, watercress just complimented it all. I also opted for a bernaise sauce to accompany it all. There is an option for garlic as well. FYI: they also have a two course or a three course menu which is available Monday to Friday, noon to 7pm. From what I saw it's a great value and the starter, main and dessert choices were very good. I wish I had dessert but I could barely finish my steak. Next time. Bill also sells a wide variety of Bill products. Oils, condiments and sauces all for sale and displayed quite prominently at the front of the store. Please see attached pictures. I really enjoyed my meal today - great good and excellent service. Thank you Cindy!!!

It's also (small) dog-friendly so glad I brought my senior chihuahua to chill out. I got the prana masala chai latte with cashew and coconut milk to start. Honestly it was only ok. Not the most flavorful although lovely to look at. I always find chai without dairy milk is just never as good, sadly. The waiter got my order wrong- I ordered the Kumara rather than the corn fritters- but another staff member graciously took the plate away (although the fritters looked temptingly delicious!) As there was quite a long wait for the replacement, he offered a drink on the house so I got the antioxidant revive. It was bright pink, sweet and tasty. Once my dish arrived I was thrilled how good it was: a very generous arrangement of sweet potato/ feta and pumpkin seeds all tasted wonderful. I cleaned my plate. My friend got the avo bread as vegan so just as mashed avo and bread, and a matcha latte. Service otherwise was very good. I also got the vegan wrap for takeaway. I had it for lunch the next day and wow it was great! Really tasty mash of lentils and sweet potato and quite filling.

The menu has everything from toasted wraps and sandwiches- the toasted Vegetarian Wrap has a Mediterranean twist that is both light & filling- salads, pastries, eggy breakfast dishes, including a delicious French Toast dish with hints of orange, cinnamon, vanilla mascarpone, and your choice of poached maple banana or streaky bacon, or both!
