It was our first breakfast in London and the best we had all week. The staff was great and the kitchen made delicious meals.

After a week of somewhat touristy food I was excited for breakfast at this little spot. They are making things fresh and to order which is lovely. I ordered a meal that included poached eggs. Not quite sure what the expectations for a proper poached eggs are here so if this is the way it is supposed to be then my mistake. I prefer my poached eggs to have a yolk in consistency that is less than soft boiled. These yolks were nearly hard and since the eggs were the star of the dish it was a bit of a dissapointment. Randomly found this place on a Google search and it wasn't far from our Airbnb so we came for breakfast on a Thursday. It took a bit for the waiter to come over to us but once he did he was an absolute delight and hilarious to boot. I made my own avocado toast with eggs and bacon and did one of their green juices. I regret not getting coffee because my friend's smelled amazing but the juice was good and surely what my travel-worn body needed. The food itself came out timely and was clearly fresh and good quality with great portion sizes. They also have a very enticing baked goods section in the front that you can order with your meal or to go. My friend picked out an almond croissant and said it was better than the one he had in Paris the day before (he loves to be extra but you get the idea). Highly recommend for breakfast if you are in the area. Would definitely come back. read more

Mmmmm... This place is nice. Actually it is better than nice. Chamomile Cafe is a great place to come for a morning or lunch time bite. My first experience was for breakfast, and although not greasy spoon cheap, being smack in the middle of Belsize Park seemingly millions of miles away from Chavdom, the extra couple of £'s are worth it. Indeed Chamomile was full of young couples and families that looked as if they were pushing up the class ladder. Working class notions behind us, the menu had a healthy feel that crossed into the appearance and taste of the food. I recommend the granola, exotic fruit and natural yogurt offering. It is both large, impressive and delightfully tasty, with at least seven different fruits. My cheese and ham toasty was very good too. Fresh bread is baked every day, and I cannot help but applaud my overall experience. Great cafe. read more

A charming, relaxed cafe which is locally reknowned for its mixture of very healthy and very unhealthy breakfasts and brunches, at very reasonable prices. It is a great little spot- a perfect morning place to read the papers and have a cup of tea. My mum and I always go to Chamomile when we meet up- it is a good place to start off the day and is perfectly positioned on England's Lane, so very close to Primrose Hill, Regent's Park Road and Belsize Park Village. We always have the same thing- we share a pot of tea, I have their full English breakfast and my mum has the healthier options- juice, muesli and yoghurt and then smoked salmon on rye. Both options are delicious (their bacon is perfectly cooked) They have a selection of newspapers at the front of the cafe which you can pick up and read when you come in. read more

I went here for my first meal in London. The food was really good. I ordered the full English breakfast, and the two people with me had the avocado toast and one of the health bowls. I'll keep going back here because the food is solid and well-priced. I'm dinking the star bc the staff seems to have issues cracking a smile. My husband and I were here last Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. I got the cauliflower and celeriac soup and it was great: a hearty bowl with 2 pieces of brown bread and soft butter. The soup itself was rich with a smoky flavour. Yum. I also got the sides at the front: roasted cauliflower and pomegranate arils and roasted acorn squash and tomato. Again, great savoury flavours. I got the raw chocolate cake last time I was here and god it was delicious: so rich, I forgot it was raw! One fault is the flapjack they sell in the window. It was good the first time- the appropriate sweet flavour- and the second time, an earthy, savoury taste, which is totally wrong in a flapjack. read more

This is a decent place on England's Lane to grab a coffee. I haven't had the food but the coffee is good. Clean interior. Shocking toilets. Unfortunately the reception from staff is always a bit.. umm... frosty. One of the male staff who has served me a few times now, seems permanently pissed off. For me, it's OK. Brrrrrrrrunnnnnnnnch! This morning my tummy woke me up with this audible request. I'm sure you know the feeling, and therefore you must also know that some sort of immediate egg/toast/pancake/oj/coffee combination is the only cure. It just so happens that this morning's Chamomile Café combination included free range eggs from Freedom Farms in Whales, fresh fruit and vegetables that were delivered the same morning from Spitalfields market, and fresh fish delivered from the Southbank Fish Merchants. The menu is filled with plenty of fresh, organic and delicious options. Mmmmm so guuud! Oh, and they have American pancakes on the menu. With fresh bananas, strawberries and blueberries. If you haven't noted anything else in this review, note this. They're legit. When the cacophony of stomach demands, I would head to Chamomile immediately, if not sooner. A solid 4 star just off the outskirts of Belsize Park's mini high street. We've read the praises of brunch but fellow yelper Melizza & I were after a bigger bite and went with burgers that came with a big pile of sweet fries and salad and was just what we were after. I was playing eye-spy with the food around us and had a little pasta/breakfast/risotto envy, so I think I'll need to make a trip on back in the near future. We got there about 1230 and there was a blip of a rush as it looked like there was a school nearby that had a break about that time but the kids cleared out as quick as they came and it was back to normal in no time. It looks like there was free wireless available (ask at counter for password?) and this could be a good place to sit and get some laptop time in if you get a good table. Not the cheapest cafe on the block, but every once in a while you need to pay for the atmosphere, it's good for the senses. Cute pastries in the counter on the way out as well! read more

Got there before the usual rush. Sat in a corner at the back of the place with my friend. On the expensive side but I think it's worth it every once in a while and for the quality. Friend ordered the pancakes and I ordered the english breakfast. So much food on my plate but very tasty. Had a bite of the pancakes too, yum. We had cappuccinos that weren't bad. I am a california coffee snob so don't listen to me. Would like to go back one morning before the crowd again and try something new. read more

Definitely one of those reliable brunch spots. The service can be pretty spotty but the food and the atmosphere definitely make up for that! The place is always really busy but they're pretty efficient with the table service and can get you in and out of there in no time, especially if you're one of those Americans that doesn't like to linger? I'm a creature of habit and always tend to get the same thing even though I've been here several times. Why argue with the general consensus of all the other reviewers. Get the pancakes! Some times cafes just do not do 'american pancakes' well but Chamomile is not guilty of this. I don't know what they put in the batter but it is delicious. Order a side of bacon while you're at it! You can't have maple syrup but a deliciously piggy accompaniment. Chamomile is a solid breakfast option and I'd definitely come back. It's definitely a bit 'yummy mummy' crowd but once you get past that, it's an awesome place to get brunch. read more

Visited for Sunday brunch, cute cafe off the main Belsize Park High Street. The Eggs Royale was great, a generous portion which tasted and looked yum! Unfortunately the 'Tart of the day' was slightly bland and not something I would order again/recommend. Coffee could also have been improved, having returned from a few years in NY, I too have turned into a bit of a coffee snob. On the whole, enjoyed a casual cheap brunch in a cosy cafe. read more

Went here twice for breakfast when we were in town a couple weeks ago and staying at The Marriott's Regent Park. Unless I'm traveling for work and thus on an expense account, I refuse to eat outrageously expensive breakfasts in hotels, so luckily we found Chamomile to help us avoid that problem. So, nice enough decor: A converted store front with a pastry case in the front of the place and a giant espresso machine behind. Seating in tables up front and then a smaller room overlooking a garden in the back. It seemed to be a seat yourself sort of place and then the waitress would wander over, hand you menus, ask what you wanted to drink, and return. First day we were there, that took awhile, but they were pretty busy, i.e., not an empty table. Breakfast menu is pretty big but also typical: Crepes, full English breakfast, pancakes, etc. My son had pancakes the first day and proclaimed them good. I had the full English and it was delicious, I mean, maybe my eggs were a bit runny, but I hadn't specified, so I'm not going to complain. Bacon was thick, juicy, and smoky sweet and the tomatoes had a spice blend sprinkled over them with a bit of oregano and were super fresh. Wife had some sort of eggs benedict concoction and said it was good. Juices were very fresh, my orange juice both days was fresh-squeezed. Coffee was excellent: I had a double espresso the first day and a cappucino (served in what was apparently a small soup tureen) the second and the flavors were spot on, not burned or overdone. I had the pancakes on day two and they were, as my son had said, very good: Small but thick and fluffy, sprinkled with powdered sugar with bananas and strawberries on the side. Definitely a re-do if we ever go back. All in all, a great little find, and very happy we went as the cost was 1/3 what it would have been had we eaten in the hotel. read more

There are many cafes in the Belsize Park/Primrose Hill area. There are probably 4 on England's Lane alone. I have dined here now twice. Once for breakfast- where I had the veggie breakfast and the veggie sausages were not to my liking and most recently for tea and a cake. The chocolate cake I had was dry and cold. It's not that I expected it to be warm per say- but it was refrigerator cold. If I wanted to have refrigerated cake I could have provided that to myself without paying a premium. I did not find the service very good either- once our waitress disappeared on her break it was difficult getting the attention of anyone else as they all worked hard to avoid contact as they weren't our original waitress. I am more keen to try other cafes on England's Lane and further down Primrose Hill. read more

Every other cafe in England's lane is wonderful so I don't know why you would bother coming to Chamomile. The service is the worst around, the food is only okay and when we went back to try a second time we got asked to wait 20 mins for a table for 3 and watched as they gave away multiple tables for 4 to couples. When we reminded them as they clearly forgot about us (although we were standing infront of the til) they tried to shove us in on the same table as another family. So we left and there was no remorse from them whatsoever. Highly recommend Ginger & White or Black Truffle or probably Tescos rather than Chamomile! Chicken sausage...you heard me, CHICKEN Coral walls, full sunlight and fresh food. The country breakfast made for the perfect start to my Sunday. A large flat top mushroom, 2 eggs, granary toast and chicken sausage filled my plate and shortly after, my belly. Brekkie comes with OJ and the filter coffee kicked most British brew to the curb. I passed on ordering the fruit muesli but I will promote it's scrumptious taste and appearance; don't hesitate to order it, no scrimping on size for this dish. If you haven't guessed already, I'm singing Chamomile Cafe's praises. Couldn't have asked for much more...accept for maybe less clientele. read more

This is my local cafe / brunch place. I love it because it's cosy, bright and the service is lovely to boot. I mostly go for breakfast on the weekend or for a good strong coffee.
