Terry's Cafe is everything you want in an English classic. After reading about it on Yelp and other places online, we knew this had to be our destination for our day 1 full English Breakfast and it did NOT disappoint! We all ordered a variation of the full English breakfast and all food included was absolute perfection. To drink, I had an amazing oat milk cappuccino, while others in my party had spicy bloody Mary's or Pimm's cups. The location is quite small, so seating is a little tight, but manageable. I spent the entire time looking around at all the fascinating memorabilia on the walls from way back. After trying the Regency, I came here for part two, hoping to complete the trifecta of infamous breakfast places in London. "The Works" (the full English) seemed slightly too much for me, so I opted for one rung down the ladder and got "The Blowout" which was perfectly sized for me that day. Two free range eggs, bacon, Cumberland sausage, bubble & squeak, grilled tomatoes... though you do get a choice with the sides. The staff smiles and is incredibly friendly. Be sure to enter the door on the left side, as the right is coffee and pastries take-away only (I think). The food and drink may take a while to get to you, but with good reason. Everything is so tasty! The couple next to me were tourists, also having seen Terry's on the YouTube, but there were plenty of locals there as well. Once again, maybe I got lucky, but I was seated pretty much right away. A bit of a journey to get to, maybe, depending on where you are staying or going, but well worthwhile. read more

Coming all the way to London I was promised the best English Breakfast. I don't know if this is the best English breakfast but it was certainly very impressive. Once we arrived we were seated inside a cute cafe. They had outdoor seating as well. A friendly waitress came with water and told us in order to get the menu we needed to scan the QR Code on a card on the table. They had an impressive selection of different English Breakfasts. After debating whether I could finish it or not I got "The Works". This included 3 bacon, 1 egg, 1sausage (bubble and squeak), 2 blood sausage, beans, grilled tomato, and hash brown. I also had a ginger lemon tea which was refreshing and cut the fat of the breakfast. So first off the best part was the bacon which was more like a cross between thick cut bacon and Canadian bacon. The sausage was ok but the texture inside was softer than I'm used to. And one day I need an Englishman to tell me what good blood sausage is supposed to taste like. So far of all I can tell is that the texture is crunch on the outside, creamy on the inside. The egg was nice. The beans and mushrooms helped to provide a different flavor and texture. Hello mate thanks for following my uk journey. It's a cute small cafe. I loved the vibe. It was busy but come here early to avoid the wait. We didn't have to wait when we got there early. When we were done it was getting busy with wait so that tells you something. . Hot tea - we had such good experience at regency cafe with the tea and coffee, we thought we ordered it. The tea wasn't hot enough so it was a dissapointment. I didn't crave this tea like I did from the other spot after having such a good experience. . English breakfast - this wasn't as good too compared to the other place. The flavors was missing something..it just didn't hit the right spot. It was missing textures too in the food served. The presentation was pleasing to the eye though and pictures. . Parfrait - this was thick and creamy. Loved the honey in it with fresh fruits and granola sprinkled. . Overall service was a bit slow. I passed by Terry's as I was walking around the Borough area one afternoon and made a note that it was a place I wanted to come back and try based on its inviting looking atmosphere. A few days later, I wandered over and popped in for a breakfast. I arrived just after 8:00 on a Tuesday (not long after they opened). Little confusing: there is a sign outside that says to wait to be seated, but there wasn't actually anyone outside to seat anyone. I stood there for a while and eventually someone came out to assist. Got a great table by the window. Lots of selections of breakfast that you can choose from. I went for The Traditional. A little different than most traditional breakfasts elsewhere: you have to pick either the tomatoes or the beans. Okay then. That's.. fine. Peculiarity aside, portions were generous, as Eric H. noted. I was plenty full all morning. The other peculiarity: I sat there for quite a while after I finished waiting to pay. Honestly, after my order was taken by a gentleman and my food was delivered by a women, no one ever came by again. After being done for about five minutes, I eventually went to the till where the woman who delivered my food stared at me a little strangely. I said I wanted to pay my bill. She said that they normally come over. Well... that'd have been nice... but no one had come by at all since my food was dropped off. It's a tiny restaurant, almost no room to walk between the tables, but you still don't feel cramped. I really like that part. The food - Well, maybe English Break is not for me. Everything we were served felt fresh, well cooked, but I just didn't like it. I'm not blaming the place for that - I'm pretty sure it's just me. The food felt bland, the sausage was not to my taste at all, the beans were nothing special, and everything needed more salt. This was my first time trying a full English breakfast and I really wanted to love the food here based on the excellent reviews. It may be my taste buds, but my husband and I found that nothing, with the exception of the bacon and the sausage, was salted. I don't know if that's typical for this kind of meal, but it didn't really taste very good because everything was so under-seasoned. I tried to salt the bubble and squeak at the table, but it didn't really help very much. It did make for a nice Instagram picture even though I wasn't too fond of the lack of flavor I really enjoyed the Cumberland sausage though! I'm so glad I've found this delightful cafe. Whilst looking for somewhere close to our office for a team breakfast, I came across Terry's Cafe on Yelp and saw it had great reviews. We've been to some really nice places around Bankside, but some have been a bit too pricey, or the service has been really slow in the mornings so we were keen to try somewhere else. This was a walk in the other direction to where we normally go but really easy to get to - just a few minutes walk from Borough or a few more from Southwark. I tried to book a table as there were 7 of us, but you can't book here. It was absolutely fine though as Austin (the main man!) said that if we got there a touch earlier than our 8:30am plan, we should be ok to get the table in the middle which would seat us all. We arrived about 8:20am and sure enough, he had the table for us. There were a couple of tables taken when we got there but by the time we left at 9:15am, it was packed inside and out. Definitely a popular place and now we know why! The food was delicious and such great value. Real good old British fare and really good quality. The staff were friendly and helpful and the cafe is really cute - old black and white photos adorn the walls. I could have spent hours looking at them all and asking about the history behind them. The cafe was set up by Terry and is now run by Austin, his son who started working with his Dad at the cafe as a Saturday boy when he was 14. The history of the cafe and their family is on the website and worth a read, plus the menu is printed like an old newspaper and has some of their story on there too. I had the standard breakfast - a really large delicious and good quality sausage, three rashers of bacon cooked to perfection (not too crispy, not too rubbery), beans, fried egg and two slices of toast. It was hot, freshly cooked and a really generous portion size. Plus, it was just £6! Where else in London can you get breakfast that good for so little? They had veggie and even vegan options. One of my colleagues is vegan and went for peanut butter on toast (with no butter). They brought her out two slices of toast (really nice bloomer brown bread) and a whole jar of peanut butter so she could put on how much she wanted. What a great touch! Some of the team who are coffee drinkers loved that they had Monmouth coffee too. I checked in as we were paying so I didn't realise I could have had a free cup of tea or coffee when you check in with Yelp so do check in when you get there! I understand schmoozing but not a ten minute conversation while I am waiting for the only 2 top available (I dined alone) and they wouldn't give me a table for four. So I stood there for 15 minutes while they finished talking and paying and then actually left. I ordered stuffed French toast that sounded amazing. It looked pretty and the fruit was yummy, but the french toast was not stuffed. They just thru some cream cheese on top with fruit. AND...the toast was dry so I assume they make it ahead of time. Should be made fresh. Doesn't take that long to grill up some french toast. And for the wait time I spent waiting for the food, they certainly could have made it fresh. read more

Terry's was great! After finding out the hard way our original plan to go to a nearby cafe had been demo'ed for a new condo building, Yelp directed us to Terry's. Service was super friendly and prices were incredibly reasonable. I had a delightful cappuccino and my friend had the hot chocolate latte. We both ordered omelettes - mine with ham, cheese and mushrooms and hers with tomatoes, mushrooms and onion. My food was marvellous, however my friend found her omelette quite bland with her lack of cheese. We've both had delicious cheese-free omelettes in the past, so this was the one downfall to our experience. By the time we were done the tiny dining area had filled up! If I was in the area again, I'd definitely return and try one of their famous sandwiches. read more
