First Full English Breakfast I have ever had in England and it was delicious. Warm and comfortable service and atmosphere. Cozy and charming like neighborhood diners in the states. So affordable for London prices. Will definitely recommend to anyone local or tourists.

English breakfast

My AirBnB host recommended this place to me, referring to it as a typical 'greasy-spoon' London cafe. Basically that means that you probably shouldn't expect to get anything all that fancy here - just a traditional English breakfast fare. Mind you, it was good, and certainly had some charm about it, even though it did feel pretty rough.

We wanted to try traditional English breakfast to power a long day of touring. Found this place on Yelp. It didn't disappoint. We came at around 10am. First thing we noticed is that it's full of locals, people getting hearty meals. We ordered the Full Breakfast and Kennington Special. Everything was served fast and hot. The sausages and bacon were delicious though only good on occasions like this when we need the calories. The black pudding was surprisingly starchy, not what I expected at all. It tasted like a lightly flavored patty of mixed beans and flour. Egg was done so well, soft and running just the way I like it. The "bubble", deep fried toast sure is good, but not something you'd eat everyday for health reasons. The staff was friendly and attentive. Seating on the main floor and downstairs with quieter ambient.

Best person ever Halil!!! You made the best day!!

The best English full breakfast I've ever had! I highly recommend the Kennington Breakfast -- it comes with everything and tastes fantastic. Halil was exceptionally friendly and made my morning feel truly vibrant.

Before leaving London we needed to try an authentic English breakfast. There's no better place to visit than here to say you had an English breakfast. The cafe felt super homey and we were surrounded by locals. Since it was our first time, we weren't sure what to order. However, we met Halil who was extremely lively and made us feel welcomed by sharing silly jokes and introducing us to an English breakfast. He gave us recommendations and offered us a sample of a sweet at the end. The soup of the day was a heart-warming chicken soup that came with bread. The toast was extremely crunchy and the goey egg matched it perfectly. Our plate also came with beans, mushrooms, sausage, and ham. Everything about this place was perfect. Give it a visit when in London!

The coffee was delicious, the server was so sweet and accommodating and prices are pretty reasonable for good portions. As an american tourist it's this place i'll remember having a nice breakfast here with my loved ones and making memories that last. And thank you to our server Yasmin, she was so nice and generous!

Poached egg toast hash browns

Delightful breakfast for our little family. Highly recommend, won't be disappointed. Spanish omelette, bubbles & squeak, 2 poached eggs & 2 toast. Lattes & juice. Best hash browns we've tried here. Pleasant service. Friendly staff & attentive. Where the locals eat. Would recommend for breakfast!

Kennington Special

Best English breakfast in London! Friendly staff and delicious food make this a must when in Vauxhall. The Kennington special is the best for this quaint establishment.

My friend and I stumbled across this cafe en route to an event and dropped in on our way home to try it. We both had a cup of herbal tea and I had a slice of cake. Staff were really friendly and it was a nice spot to spend an hour or so. The cafe also has various items for sale including plants, crockery, candles and kids items, however I found they were priced pretty high. This is why I dropped a star on my review as I found it was on the pricier side. Tea was £2 and a slice of cake/cupcake/pastry was £3. I did enjoy my tea and cake and the cake was homemade but it was a bit of a small portion to justify the £3 price. However I appreciate the vicinity of the cafe probably warrants the price and it is in quite a touristy area with the London Eye a 5 min walk away. The cafe has been there 4 months and it makes a change to visit a local business vs a chain cafe, hopefully it is here to stick around. So give it a go! Hopefully they will become a bit more generous with the portion sizes!!

Perfect seating area with electric fireplace, light jazz instrumentals, perfectly brewed tea and coffee, and just calming atmosphere. There isn't a huge sign that shouts where this place is, so I suggest you come and enjoy it before it gets too popular! This is truly a hidden gem and relaxing place to read a book, talk to friends, or just enjoy some time to yourself.

Unacceptable and Disgusting Behaviour from Scootercaffe Staff…read more I've lived locally and supported Scootercaffe on Lower Marsh for over six years. It has always been a part of my routine -- a local spot I chose to give my business to. That is no longer the case. On Wednesday, 19th June at 1:28 PM, I came in for a drink and something to eat. I was polite, calm, friendly, and approached the counter with a simple question: I asked what paninis were available. The woman behind the bar, approximately 5'7", mid-20s, mixed heritage, British, responded curtly with: "We don't sell paninis." Her tone was aggressive, dismissive, and unnecessarily sharp. I responded that I thought they served food, and she snapped again that they only serve toasties -- in an even more unpleasant tone. It was not only rude, it was disgustingly rude. There was no professionalism, no effort to help, no basic courtesy. Just attitude. Despite this, I still placed an order and sat down. I waited 25 minutes with no food, no communication. I returned to the bar and spoke to another staff member -- a man, approximately 5'9", mid-30s, white, Scottish accent, medium build -- who informed me that: "My colleague forgot to put your order through." No apology. No explanation. Just more cold indifference. I waited an additional 15 minutes. Still nothing. At this point, I had waited 37 minutes. I calmly asked for a refund. He replied: "We don't give refunds." That is categorically false. As someone who owns and runs multiple businesses, including cashless venues, I know exactly how systems work. After a back-and-forth, he reluctantly refunded me -- using coins from the tip jar. One-pound coins and 50p pieces, handed over without so much as a basic "sorry." Moments later, the toastie appeared -- brought out by the same woman. Not to my table, not with a word of apology. Just shoved into my hands at the bar like I was a nuisance. At this point I made it clear I no longer wanted the food and that I was leaving. As I walked out, I calmly said I would be writing a review. The man laughed and replied: "Looking forward to it." Both staff members laughed as I left. Let me be clear: this was not just unprofessional -- it was humiliating. I was mocked by two staff members for daring to speak up after receiving disgustingly rude service and being left without food for nearly 40 minutes. The energy was juvenile, passive-aggressive, and bullying in nature. It was appalling. This Review Is to Hold Them Accountable This isn't about a wrong order or a slow day. This is about the way human beings are treated. I run businesses and manage teams -- I understand pressure. But what I experienced wasn't pressure. It was contempt. Mocking a customer to their face, offering no apology, and showing zero responsibility is shameful. The behaviour of both staff members was disgraceful, and they must be held accountable. I did not stay quiet. I visited several neighbouring businesses and shared what happened, Greensmiths Deli was one of them. The reactions from staff and owners nearby made it clear this is not the first time someone has flagged rude behaviour at this café. On top of that, I have a social media following of 1.5 million. If necessary, I can share this experience with a wide audience quickly. I take hospitality and service seriously, and I won't stay silent when customers are treated this way. To the Owners This is your team. They represent your name and your café. If this is how you allow your staff to treat paying customers -- laughing at them, insulting them, embarrassing them -- you are complicit. These employees were not just rude. They were disgustingly rude. There was no excuse for it. None. Why I Included Staff Descriptions I've included brief physical descriptions so that if you happen to be served by these individuals, you can be fully aware. If your experience is anything like mine, it is only fair that you know in advance. These people should not be in public-facing roles, and they should be held responsible for their disgraceful conduct. Final Word Scootercaffe may have charm as a venue, but that is meaningless when the staff treat locals with contempt and bullying behaviour. I strongly advise against going there. Spend your money elsewhere -- there are plenty of other brilliant independent cafés on Lower Marsh where customers are treated with basic dignity and respect. This review is not just a warning. It is a record. A record of how some businesses fail at the most fundamental level: treating people like human beings.
