Our last two days in London, we went for breakfast at Kennington Lane Cafe. Even though our B&B served a full English breakfast, my husband wanted to go out for breakfast. He had looked up restaurants that served a full English breakfast, and Kennington Lane Cafe was highly regarded, and it happened to be a few minutes away from our B&B. We loved our breakfast so much that we went back a second day. What I liked about the menu was that is was easy to create exactly what you wanted. You could order a set breakfast (and easily add on extra sides), or you could pick and choose what you wanted, and make the breakfast as small or as large as needed to match your appetite. The breakfast I created had a small steak, fried mushrooms and tomatoes, and bubble and squeak. Delicious! I don't have an itemized bill of exactly what we ordered and the price of each item, but the totals on my credit card bill are £20.89 the first day and £20.50 the second day, and each bill included breakfast and coffee for two. My AirBnB host recommended this place to me, referring to it as a typical 'greasy-spoon' London cafe. Basically that means that you probably shouldn't expect to get anything all that fancy here - just a traditional English breakfast fare. We wanted to try traditional English breakfast to power a long day of touring. Found this place on Yelp. It didn't disappoint. We came at around 10am. First thing we noticed is that it's full of locals, people getting hearty meals. We ordered the Full Breakfast and Kennington Special. Everything was served fast and hot. The sausages and bacon were delicious though only good on occasions like this when we need the calories. The black pudding was surprisingly starchy, not what I expected at all. It tasted like a lightly flavored patty of mixed beans and flour. Egg was done so well, soft and running just the way I like it. The "bubble", deep fried toast sure is good, but not something you'd eat everyday for health reasons. The staff was friendly and attentive. Great full English breakfast at an affordable price. Very much a greasy spoon similar to other cafes around the city. Also has options like a Mediterranean breakfast, etc. AND some lunch items (interestingly, very Middle Eastern lunch plates). What it lacks in modern decor it makes up in soul-comforting deliciousness. I have to say that it gets the job done- that's how I would describe it. No frills and a decent staff. They were quite pushy about asking for a Google review though, which kind of caught me by surprise- I'd never had a server come up to me with a laminated paper of a QR code leading to their Google review site. Although I appreciate that reviews promote local businesses, perhaps they could have done this in a less imposing way. read more

Great little spot for breakfast, catering to locals and tourists alike. I loved that they managed to provide avocado toast to the American family next to us, despite it not being on the menu. Full English was perfect and sausages were very tasty. Bacon can be cooked to preference and the toast was from a real loaf, not a pre-sliced square. Freshly squeezed OJ was a bonus. Before leaving London we needed to try an authentic English breakfast. There's no better place to visit than here to say you had an English breakfast. The cafe felt super homey and we were surrounded by locals. Since it was our first time, we weren't sure what to order. However, we met Halil who was extremely lively and made us feel welcomed by sharing silly jokes and introducing us to an English breakfast. He gave us recommendations and offered us a sample of a sweet at the end. The soup of the day was a heart-warming chicken soup that came with bread. The toast was extremely crunchy and the goey egg matched it perfectly. Our plate also came with beans, mushrooms, sausage, and ham. Everything about this place was perfect. Great little breakfast spot London. Our first time visiting London and across the street from our AirBnb was this little gem. Waitress was a super friendly lady and made us feel comfortable since we were from out of town. Food came out quick and was amazing tasting. Definitely recommend to anyone local or visiting from out of town. Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and look forward to coming back. Probably one of my favorite meals while I was in London. We came for a "last breakfast" before we left London. We still hadn't gotten a proper English breakfast. My friends were judging the cafe based on the outside and were a little apprehensive but I knew we had to go! To clarify, there's nothing wrong with the outside it's just small little unassuming cafe. We walked by the cafe every morning (it was near our place) and you can tell the locals frequent this cafe, so you know it's good! They have different breakfast combinations. My friends were more conservative than me and got the "Full Breakfast" I was being extra so I got the "Builders Breakfast" which is pretty much their biggest breakfast. Our meals came with a coffee (which honestly tasted like a latte-- not complaining) which is a nice touch. Everything was quick and delicious. Not only was the food delicious, service was wonderful as well. They make you feel at home and welcomed. One of the men who worked there even gave us an umbrella because he saw us standing under the awning while it was raining after our breakfast. He asked how we heard of the restaurant and I said Yelp, and he responded with "Of course, you Americans!!" Enjoyed my meal and experience here a lot!! read more

VERY IMPRESSIVE. The quality of the food is outstanding, and the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff (owners?) was unexpectedly warm and friendly. Visiting London, I'd never had black pudding, and decided to try it. It was quite good, and didn't taste at all of blood, which was the most shocking thing to me. Kensington Lane Cafe is located about a 30-second walk from the Vauxhall Underground station, so it is very convenient to get to. Prices are low, to boot! Definitely worth a visit. read more

The full English. I decided to treat my girl to her first full English. Kennington Lane Cafe is located around the corner from the Vauxhall tube station. It's a tiny cafe with seating inside and out. My girl and I ordered the full English and the manger recommended 1/2 beans and 1/2 tomato. We agreed and it was the right choice. The eggs were cooked over easy, the sausage was nice and plump, the tomato was boiled and peeled, and the coffee had just the right amount of kick.
