Quite a sizeable auditorium that maybe fit 30 or so people. The screen size is pretty impressive for a small room. However the let down is the seating, I think the owners took shabby chic chairs a bit too far as some of the seats were so damaged we couldn't sit on them. But I'm sure the owners can sort this out. I'd definitely come back for movie events it's a cool place to watch films and eat the delights from the kitchen including corn dogs and lambs balls! Upstairs in the library was where the spy game was held run by Agent November. Pretty fun 'who done it' game. If they hold any more decent film events I'll be down in a flash, a good excuse to check out the rest of the pub.

Not only if there usually a decent selection of films planned each week - you can put in requests! The Sunday evening dinner, which happily extend to 9:00pm rather than the 6:00pm listed on the website, was outstanding! This pub is large with an outdoor beer garden and a couple dining rooms (one with live music the night we were there) as well as the bar. The bartender and waitstaff were friendly and very helpful. It was also appreciated that a member of management was visibly present throughout the evening to help iron out any problems that could arise. The bar staff were also friendly and efficient The room was the prefect size for our guest list of 50 and a good evening was had by all The club were suitably impressed enough to want to book up for next year's dinner already

There's nothing "blow-you-away" great other than its charm. It (in my limited opinion on the matter) is the classic definition of an English pub trying to compete in modern times: loud, crowded, booze, and a slight hint of hunters lodge with all the refinement of a city restaurant. The food was excellent; we had the Cod special and Sausage with Mash. Plated beautifully, obviously by a culinary school graduate, with complementary flavors that sung from the fork notes of a song that romanced the panties off me. Maybe it was three pints of IPA, maybe it was my appetite, but certainly our meals deserve credit where credit is due. Kudos to the cooks! I walked past this place about a week ago and it had only been open a few days. It's was pouring down with rain and I peered though it's wonderful windows at the warm glow coming off the copper coffee pots. I begged and begged to go in but my partner in crime at the time dragged me on to the bus and I stared back at the orange lights as they faded into the distance. This time however I was alone and missed two buses just standing in the rain peering in. It looked so wonderful that I didn't want to go in and soil it by the place being bad. I can't tell you the relief I felt when I had my first sip of my fabulous mellow, deep, smooth, rich... coffee. I don't know if I told you but this place isn't a bar, it's a coffee house, a proper old skool hang out where you can chill out, relax and read a book, pen a novel or even just stare out the window and pass the time people watching. I can't even describe the decor, it was a cross between an old pub and someones sitting room. I'll upload some photos so you can see what I mean. I think their beans are Brazilian, and they are tasty too so you should come her and drink coffee. As I said this is a coffee house and unlike many others I have been too, this one is of a particular style yet it's not trying. It's just great, and it's doesn't need to try hard at all. They do have a selection of cakey cakes and sarnies but... I didn't try those, damn it, I'll have to come back.

More fool me, I love The Bridge. And I love the old school looking robot-like gold and silver twin coffee machines more. The decor is pretty manly downstairs, all dark wood with old school posters and sporting memorabilia downstairs; but venture upstairs and you find jewel coloured armchairs and drapes. Coffees were good and the pastries and muffins were pretty, but I really want to come back and make the most of the alcohol licence, get myself tipsy and pretend I'm Alice in Wonderland and make myself at home upstairs.

I had a "main course" beetroot salad, which was tasty and beautifully presented, but would pass for a light starter at best. This had to be supplemented with their "famous chips", which were average chips, but shaped like tater tots. The bill for this light dinner and a cider -- £18.60. I do appreciate how accommodating they were for a vegan, but this won't be my new go-to restaurant. I might be back for drinks and board games, but probably not for food.

(You follow me here?) Frizzante - it's a restaurant within the Hackney City Farm and it's really quite the alternative space. In fact, I really like this kind of Berkeley/San Francisco-vibe that this space radiates: open seating, open kitchen, lots of more or less alternative mummies with their respective kids running through the place. (While the last bit was a bit annoying, I do admit that it's a city farm and you might not get around screaming kids). As for the food, I was not quite as thrilled. Don't get me wrong, I've had a very healthy portion of vegetable frittata with a sizeable salad on the side - but: the taste just wasn't there. It tasted a little bland and not very exciting. On the other hand, the brownie was quite tasty, if not a little too undercooked in the middle. My overall judgement: I would go back, because I would like to support this establishment as I am truly behind its agenda, but I just hope that the food's going to be a little bit more exciting next time.
