Tea is subpar and overpriced. The only thing these guys have going for them is their location.

There aren't many tea rooms or tea spots left on Carnaby Street in Soho. I loved Camelia's tea rooms and The Madhatter's Cafe on my past visits, but both are gone from Kingly Court. Urban Tea Rooms is one of the last remaining ones and the fact they metamorphose into a wine bar in the evening may be one of the secrets to their longevity! I've been twice to Urban Tea Rooms and enjoyed both visits. The service is friendly and fast and the tea is nice and strong. Their baked goods are decent too. A large scone runs for 3.50 GBP and mini bite sized brownies are a pound each - and they are very delicious! They also have a sitting area downstairs and a clean rest room. read more

It's a cute nice place to stop for a cup of coffee. Great price, however desert prices are a bit high considering the size of them. For 2 people you will spending around 5-6 and with deserts 12-14. A nice plus is that they have free WiFi, and it's reasonably fast. read more

Nice little tea shop in Soho. We stumbled upon this cafe while walking around Soho. We hadn't yet really sat down for a cup of tea with traditional scones during our trip and this seemed like a great option. We went inside and took a look at all the many pastries and sandwiches on display. The tea list is quite extensive! I chose a darjeeling tea and my husband got the British afternoon tea. We also ordered a plain scone and a Portuguese custard pastry. It was a bit pricey but about the same as other restaurants in the area. We took a seat at the couch by the window and one of the servers brought over our tea and pastries. The teas are served in a teapot along with a small tea cup and spoon. There is plenty of tea to drink so it's a good place to sit and relax after much walking. The scone was delicious! They sliced it in half and warmed it up a bit, perfect for spreading a hefty amount of clotted cream and jam! (My favorite.) The restaurant turns into more of a bar atmosphere later in the evening with other food options. It's an eclectic interior with nice options for food and drink! read more

My worst cafe experience happened here. Here's the story. I asked the waiter if there were tables downstairs. No one responded me. Instead, the guy asked me to buy my coffee first before I went downstairs. I assumed it was an yes to saying the table was available. However, after we bought the coffee, my friend noticed that there was no table downstairs. We brought this up to the waiter and he apologised straight but said he didn't understand me. Shortly after I realised I was overcharged, I asked for a refund. That guy came over wanting to apologise again and get things straight to me. However, when I was trying to clarify what he was saying, he interrupted me and said can you please let me finish. This was so rude and basically showed no attitude of apologising. Even before he did, I told him that was fine. He forced me into listening to his fake apology only to make himself feel better. This is a place I would recommend to nobody else. read more

Popped in here for a bit of food and drinks after a day was wandering about Oxford Street. I was pleasantly surprised by the drinks menu, with lots of tasty picks. I selected the Earl Grey Gin Martini, which was dry and crisp with an interesting hint of earl grey. I'm not sure it was the right drink for me, but given the food menu was a bit sparse and nothing jumped out with a "pick me-pick me," we decided to move on and try our luck at the next place. Looking at the other reviews I'm surprised to find this is a great looking coffee shop by day, because by night is definitely a cocktail bar! read more

So according to the Yelp-pictures this is a coffee shop. But trust me, during nighttime, this is a bar! And a good one on top of it. Why? They serve by far the best (Chocolate) Espresso Martinis that I have tasted in London....ever! That's why the bartenders (one with an extremely big ego - you know who you are) are super busy binge-making them, which reflects the loooong waiting time. But oh well, the music was good and bouncy and so you just keep chatting the night away, especially since there is not much room for dancing. Actually none. Yes, It's my fault for not taking pictures that night (booooo), but that's my call to action for everyone who reads this review :) Go get one of those delicious Espresso Martinis! read more

- located not far from Liberty in Kingly Street the Urban Tea Rooms puts a modern twist on the traditional English country tearoom, making it suitable for busy city people - it is an artisan coffee shop by day and a funky wine bar by evening - we went there for some coffee and tea in the afternoon before shopping at Liberty`s - fair traid coffee is made by a La Marzocco GB-5 machine, which seems to be the Porsche of the coffee world, and high quality loose-leaf teas from the Rare Tea Co are served, too - food is made with locally sourced British produce (free range and organic where possible) - artisan cakes and breads are made freshly by hand in local London bakeries - bacon sandwiches on thick cut bread and warm porridge can be enjoyed for breakfast; handmade quiches, pork pies and artisan sandwiches and salads for lunch; and delicious carrot cake or scones with handmade jam and Cornish clotted cream can be enjoyed here in the afternoons. - by night they offer a British Tapas Evening Menu which includes award wining British cheese & charcuterie boards, Ginger Pig dipping sausage platters, mini sausage roll selections and pork apricot and pistachio terrine. There's also plenty of choice for the veggies - we only had some coffee (see the pictures with the bear) and a rose tea which was really fantastic Conclusion: You should definitively give this tea room a try! Pushing this review up a bit higher... Having spoken to the owner it appears they source their food from Britain and it's free range and organic where possible. My main gripe was I couldn't see the connection between the menu and it being 'British Tapas' So maybe it's just my misunderstanding and mediterranean tapas and British ingredients should result in this combination. Was great to hear from the owner as well and know that this is a proactive business that is willing to listen to customers feedback. read more

Nice small place in Soho. Went there in the morning hours - staff at the register was very friendly. Could not resist having scone with café latte - scone with cream and jam was delicious - was told they make it there only. Coffee was good too.Seating there was limited - they have some in basement too but that room did not have much light - so preferred to sit upstairs. This is a straight forward cafe by day and bar at night. It's quite small, so prepare to stand or sit outside on a busy night. I was happy to see the espresso martini sign and knowing it was a cafe, that chances were it would be a good one. It was and the frothy top added to the flavour. My partner had a beer and we settled in for a relaxing stop along our walk through the city. Ambiance is a bit lacking. It's an old place with nothing fancy. The leather couch was worn and bar stools needed some TLC. This place does the trick but would not be a local hangout for me. However, if you are looking for something unpretentious for a quick drink, it fits the bill. read more

Wow. This was an unexpected coffee triumph. I only stopped here to grab a coffee and it - a flat white - was fantastic. All too unusually, it had the right ratio of milk to coffee and with a good flavour coming through. There are other aspects to Urban Tea Rooms that aren't 5 stars, but given how many mediocre flat whites I've had in London I think credit should be given where it's due. Those less-than-perfect bits are some strikingly high prices - £2 for a mince pie the example that caught my eye the most. The flat white was the pretty much the market rate of £2.50 to go, and considering its quality it is my abiding impression of this place. I'll definitely be popping back when next in the area. read more

I wanted to try this place since I've seen the sign outside saying "British Tapas". Whatever do they mean with that? Who would come up with something like this? Its like saying Japanese chips, or African Sauerkraut. New food concepts are popping up in my brain like excited pop candy. Anyway this place is rather minimal with wooden counters and white tiles. Its also fairly small, but they have further space downstairs. We found out that it doubles its customer base by being a coffee shop during the day and a wine bar at night. I found that a brilliant combination and although they cleared the sweet stuff when we came in, I have to say it looked yummy. The long awaited British Tapas turn out to be a cheeseboard and several variations of sausages. Not bad, but not really tapas in my understanding. But it did the job of getting us through the door. We ordered some wine and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. I will come back and see how it fairs as a coffee shop. read more

The Urban Tea Rooms offer food and drinks with a very British twist. Tea infused cocktails, and food ingredients sourced in Britain. I've passed this place many times and often wondered just hat "British Tapas" entailed. So, 1 evening, while looking for somewhere to satisfy our grumbling tummies and dry palates, Ray C and I walked passed and decided to venture in. We started with some cocktails while we perused the menu. For me it was a Green Tea Mojito which was a nice variation on the original recipe. So, British Tapas. Well, I have to admit, I was expecting something different and experimental, playing with traditional britsh recipes and reconstituting them in a kind of tapas format. What we got was Mediterranean tapas - excellent tapas - but Mediterranean. The British slant was, as mentioned before, that the ingredients were sourced in the U.K. We had the Cheese board, Roast Asparagus and Parmigianino and Black Olive Tapanade, toast garlic and rosemary crostini. All washed down with a very nice red. It was delicious but the stand out itemd was the Oxford Blue cheese 0 it was heavenly! The service was amiable, attentive and easy on the eye - ;). The place is fairly new, in fact I think it's only been open a year. check it out it's worth a visit. read more

I had a Manhattan here - so can only comment on their cocktail making skills - and they were pretty great. I wasn't sure if this is an eatery (probably) or a coffee place or a bar... so a little bit confused. It was closing down at 11 on a Saturday - which contributed to my confusion. Nevertheless - it looked like a nice unassuming place, where you can have a drink outside / inside without the blasting music. Nice. read more

My first and favorite addiction! Every morning I'm greeted with the beautiful smiles off the barista queens and the red hairded goddess that always makes my day! Without a doubt the best coffee in London...wait correction the UK. The Breakfast baps are superb, the cheese & ham croissants are finger licking good! For the after work sip, there is few finer than the imaginative mixologists that reside in this establishment. Of every fine and beautifully presented cocktail that makes it's way to your table or handed to you, you will not be disappointed, if anything you may begin to question your all time favorites.
