    A layer of dirt/grime, moths, media strewn about, a dirty burner, and a dirty pilot mechanism

    We have used The Gas Connection twice (once to install a gas line for a backyard fire pit and once to service our fireplace). We were pleased with the gas line installation; this review and rating is for the fireplace service, which is unfortunately a poorer story. We reached out to TGC because our fireplace flame would suddenly go out (even in normal weather conditions) - we could always seem to reignite the flame, but after a few minutes, it would go out again. The service manager came out, replaced a burnt-out component of our electronic igniter mechanism, appeared to clean the unit, and tested - all looked well. Two days later, we noticed that when turned on, the fireplace had a delayed ignition: enough gas was released before ignition that the resulting initial flame was quite large (larger than we had ever seen). The size of this flame increased with each ignition until finally, one ignition resulted in a fairly large and frightening bang. I reached out to the officer manager via email on a Sunday evening. Monday came and went without any contact. I called on Tuesday and received someone else; this individual mentioned that they were "trying to coordinate sending the service manager back out." The rest of Tuesday passed without any contact. Mid-day Wednesday, the service manager called and suggested that the pilot light might be dirty. We explained that this behavior had started after his service visit, to which he explained that there was no way for him to return to our house without charging us again. At this point, we decided to inspect the unit ourselves and call back if necessary. We removed the hearth overlay/glass, the glass media surrounding the burner, and the tray in which the media sat. Inside, we found a layer of dirt/grime, numerous dead moths, glass media at the bottom of the unit, a very dirty burner, and a very dirty pilot mechanism (see attached photo). This level of filth (especially the moths, which must have been holdovers from the prior summer) could not have appeared since the service call. It was clear that whatever "cleaning" the service manager did was superficial. We felt safe and savvy enough to clean and re-assemble everything ourselves; once we did, we ignited the fireplace 5-6 times and each time, no delayed ignition: everything ignited on time and as expected. It's entirely possible that we misunderstood the "cleaning" portion of our service appointment, but the combination of the very delayed customer service (from Monday to mid-day Wednesday), the service manager's "brush-off" Wednesday phone call (including the suggestion that we would be charged for a return visit), and the discovered filthiness of the fireplace is enough to leave a very sour taste in our mouth. We are unlikely to use or recommend TGC for this type of service again.

    CUSTOMERS BEWARE: The owner is ignoring facts, twisting the truth, and is using their track record as "proof" that the customer is always WRONG. FACT: Techs wanted to leave (and not come back) WITH the boiler gas line CONNECTED FACT: CUSTOMER (me) ARGURED with the techs AND the sales rep to make sure leaks didn't exist AFTER gas is turned on FACT: Leaks were found and THEN the boiler was DISCONENECTED FACT: Emergency work "completed" did NOT restore heat FACT: Utility company demanded we fix ALL leaks. Only SOME leaks were fixed FACT: Tech NEVER declined fixing the gas valve to the boiler until AFTER PAYMENT The owner is making a false and defamatory statement by saying "The customer then wanted us to hookup an illegal shut-off that was leaking by his furnace." I was the one who DEMANDED the techs make sure no leaks existed AFTER gas was turned ON. They wanted to LEAVE with a CONNECTED gas line. Because leaks existed, I was COMPLETELY in AGREEMENT that they disconnect the line to the boiler. The other owner of the building witnessed this interaction. The owner is making a false statement by saying "He was informed from the beginning we did not service furnaces/boilers and that a company that specializes in that field would have to perform the work since the faulty shutoff was integrated with the pilot system." I was informed AFTER PAYMENT and was PROMISED by the tech that it would be no issue to fix AFTER gas was turned back on. The fine print in the quote says that the price reflects a 20% discount if paid after first trip, which is BEFORE city inspection. The certification sheet they send with the quote include HVAC and steam (furnace/Boilers) in their realm of expertise. I leave these reviews because we were exploited and paid for an incomplete job that would have left gas leaking into our home if I did not intervene. Instead of the owner taking responsibility for this failure, he lies about the facts and lets his ego get to his head.

    Aaron just left our home less than an hour ago, and after speaking with my wife about the experience, I had to leave a review. Aaron was amazing. From friendly conversation to vacuuming after he was finished, my wife felt very comfortable and happy with the Gas Connection and Aaron. We installed a 1932 gas stove and Aaron was super friendly and complimentary. We were worried that we'd get somebody trying to steer us away from our antique appliance, but instead got somebody supportive and willing to make it work and walk my wife through what to watch for, etc. Thank you, The Gas Connection. We will recommend you and use you again if we need to!

    Work environment is awful and the office is incredibly greedy and unprofessional. The amount of trash talk about their clients is insane.

Just went above and beyond to be helpful, but more than that, he also had such a pleasant and kind demeanor that I wanted to make him stay and be my new BFF. What a sweetheart. As a woman who is often home alone for these calls, I've had more than one uncomfortable experience. Victor just radiates reassurance and put me instantly at ease. I called his supervisor, Steve, to tell him what a good experience I had, but I also want to recognize him on here. He was only here for about 20 minutes, total, but made a very positive impression. He turned on the line, was very friendly to my pets, and then took the time to both explain how the water heater and furnace system work, how to check them for any problems, how to adjust the water heat level, and then checked around the house for CO leaks, because I'm a jeweler and have had false positives due to my acetylene torch. He was efficient, so it's not like he wasted time, but in that short amount of time, I learned things about my house's heating/water that I'm embarrassed I made it to this age without knowing. Also, the exhaust tube for the water heater wasn't lined up properly, so he adjusted it and double tested it to make sure my kids and I would be safe from CO leaks. If every big company had employees this competent, personable, and helpful, you'd have a lot fewer Karens b*tching about things. I have a few accounts with this company, which didn't send its bill to customers, and over charged me all the time. Since last year, this company started to bill to me, after so many customers complained for years, but it sends my bills to wrong address. It won't changed my addresses to the right ones, after I requested over and again. With this address confusing, I paid my bills to wrong account, which made one account was overpaid for $400, the other one was later for $252.89. Thus yesterday I received a 'Residential Notice of Discontinuance of Utility Service', asking me to pay $252.89 in 10 days. With the Notice in hand, I called Xcel Customer Service, the customer representative checked with my name and add, then told me I don't owe any money, but have $342.58 credit. she said ignore this letter, just throw it away. I asked her to check carefully, as I have a few accounts, finally she found one of my accounts is due for $252.89. She became very rude, saying it was my fault not to pay bills on time, as if she totally forgot she just told me not to worry about the bill. I told her because the billing address was not correct, that confused me, though I tried to pay each of them on time. The fact was I did pay on time, so I begged her to tell me how much I was penalized, and if she could excuse me this time, or if I could speak to her manager about it. She started to yell at me, " No, no manager is available, I can't never waive Any charges nor fees, I only can transfer your payment to the right account. Do you want to do or not? I asked again how much was the charge and fees, why her manager is not available, she refused to answer any of the questions. I had to call again, to take this issue to another Xcel customer representative, whose name was Kelly. She is worse than the other one. She told me that she can not transfer my money from the wrong account to the right one, as it was not their mistake. But that is my money, and I paid my money to the wrong account, because of they sent the bill to wrong address. My money was paid to Xcel on time, and now the money is still in Xcel 's hand. How can Xcel fined me, shut down my utilities, while it has my full payment in its hand? After I spent hours to communicate with the worst customer service representatives, I could not fix any of my problems, they instituted not to transfer my money to my right account, but send a check back to me, in a month. How hateful!

I had called all around the city with 5 different electric companies telling me that black hills is the one that serves my address in monument! I called back up and a new representative tells me they do service my address! Why did the first representative lie to me and tell me my address "doesn't exist!" Then I get told a technician will be there sometime in the day! He shows up around 5:30pm! Way past the time stated he would be there! Hops over my fence, doesn't call or text or even knock on my door or even ring the door bell! I walk outside and see him hopping over my fence i asked who he was! He gives a nasty attitude and reply "who do you think it is!" Kevin was his name and he was very rude and disrespectful!     I have a 990 some odd square ft home. I have bills that range from $170 to $380.00. There is no reason on Gods green earth that I should ever have a bill over $200.00. I have called and complained and still nothing ever changes. They even told me to hire my own electrician.
