I closed on my new house last Wednesday and discovered a "major" gas leak Thursday morning. "WELCOME HOME," said the Universe. Long story short: the guy from Xcel may or may not have recommended TGC to me, and it's obvious why. They're the BEST. Everything from their customer service to their service to their follow-up to everything-in-between was/is FIVE STARS. This situation could've been a lot worse for me, and while I was super upset that I had to deal with something like that on Day One, TGC kissed the booboo and made it all better to the point where I was smiling and laughing as I was writing the check. When does that ever happen? Big Ups to Don and Tom for fixing my gas leaks, and Mike in the office, for taking care of me overall. You guys are amazing, and I will absolutely go nowhere else in the future!! Thank you! read more

Trying to schedule a cleaning and checkup on our gas fireplace was more complicated than our mortgage application. The scheduler (Sherri) also exhibited some pretty severe passive aggressive tendencies when I told her that I hadn't gotten her phone call on the day of our 2nd appointment (and 2nd cancelation) and I called to ask when the technician might be coming by. I live in Boulder in a known cell tower dead zone and often miss calls or drop calls midway. She was snarky when I told her that I hadn't gotten her call. I gave her my daughter's cell phone as a backup in case she had trouble reaching me for my 3rd scheduled make-up appointment. When I didn't get that call but she reached my daughter my daughter called me and asked me what her problem was bc she was so snarky with her. So I got the third makeup appointment booked and decided that I would check other places as I really was starting to wonder about this place and their other negative Yelp reviews reinforce the feeling that I got from my 3-4 contacts with this outfit. Got booked with a terrific company, A Brighter Glow in Brighton and had the best experience on the phone with an immediate confirmation and followup text and the tech Roy was professional and prompt and meticulous. I will be a repeat customer of theirs and the contrast in professionalism and customer care is like night and day with The Gas Connection. I am sure that they would have cancelled on me the 3rd time and I am glad that I don't have to deal with Sherri ever again. read more

I have had great experience with the Gas Connection. The customer service has been excellent, from making appointments by phone to having my service technician, Tom, do his scheduled maintenance on our gas fireplace. Tom explains everything that he is doing in an easy to understand manner. The prices are very reasonable & I have referred TGC to all of my friends. read more

If I could give this company 10 stars for prompt, courteous, and great service--not to mention respectful, knowledgeable, quality of workmanship and fair pricing, I would. It was a pleasure to work with Mike, the estimator and Sherpa who owned all phases of this project from the initial phone contact to the payment and final handshake. He could talk a cat out of a tree! Jacob and Joe, people coordinators par excellence who have a great relationship with Inspectors and Xcel so we could get back on line and all appliances hooked up and retested. Brilliant Gas Technicians Miguel (and Alberto) who did yeoman's work repiping my whole house, making improvements, updates, and making the connections with my dueling fireplaces, prima donna boiler, and the recalcitrant oven seem like child's play. Miguel is truly an appliance whisperer with a 'get the job done right the first time' and 'stay until the job is finished' attitude--so appreciated during this very stressful experience. It's so refreshing to do business with a company that cares about the customer and strives to deliver the best. Zach and Jon were also great to work with on payment as this was a major and unexpected hit to my retirement savings. Amy and Sherry who answered the phone were also helpful, cheerful and understanding. I felt that the pricing was very reasonable considering the fact that my house is 113 years old, there was a LOT of mature landscaping, spider infested crawl spaces, weird wiring, water pipes, and hard-to-get-to places that they had to encounter... They did it in a day too! I am writing this review so that when others are looking for a great gas line installation and repair company, they choose The Gas Connection. I've had so many other trades contractors take advantage of elderly homeowners, it was a delight and refreshing change to have been treated so fairly and professionally by the people here. They've been in business for 35 years, they obviously love their work, and they're good at it! Thank you so very much! read more

Work environment is awful and the office is incredibly greedy and unprofessional. The amount of trash talk about their clients is insane.

We have used The Gas Connection twice (once to install a gas line for a backyard fire pit and once to service our fireplace). We were pleased with the gas line installation; this review and rating is for the fireplace service, which is unfortunately a poorer story. We reached out to TGC because our fireplace flame would suddenly go out (even in normal weather conditions) - we could always seem to reignite the flame, but after a few minutes, it would go out again. The service manager came out, replaced a burnt-out component of our electronic igniter mechanism, appeared to clean the unit, and tested - all looked well. Two days later, we noticed that when turned on, the fireplace had a delayed ignition: enough gas was released before ignition that the resulting initial flame was quite large (larger than we had ever seen). The size of this flame increased with each ignition until finally, one ignition resulted in a fairly large and frightening bang. I reached out to the officer manager via email on a Sunday evening. Monday came and went without any contact. I called on Tuesday and received someone else; this individual mentioned that they were "trying to coordinate sending the service manager back out." The rest of Tuesday passed without any contact. Mid-day Wednesday, the service manager called and suggested that the pilot light might be dirty. We explained that this behavior had started after his service visit, to which he explained that there was no way for him to return to our house without charging us again. At this point, we decided to inspect the unit ourselves and call back if necessary. We removed the hearth overlay/glass, the glass media surrounding the burner, and the tray in which the media sat. Inside, we found a layer of dirt/grime, numerous dead moths, glass media at the bottom of the unit, a very dirty burner, and a very dirty pilot mechanism (see attached photo). This level of filth (especially the moths, which must have been holdovers from the prior summer) could not have appeared since the service call. It was clear that whatever "cleaning" the service manager did was superficial. We felt safe and savvy enough to clean and re-assemble everything ourselves; once we did, we ignited the fireplace 5-6 times and each time, no delayed ignition: everything ignited on time and as expected. It's entirely possible that we misunderstood the "cleaning" portion of our service appointment, but the combination of the very delayed customer service (from Monday to mid-day Wednesday), the service manager's "brush-off" Wednesday phone call (including the suggestion that we would be charged for a return visit), and the discovered filthiness of the fireplace is enough to leave a very sour taste in our mouth. We are unlikely to use or recommend TGC for this type of service again. read more

UPDATED REVIEW:They were so good about showing us all of their certifications and trainings that they had obtained. However, once the inspections were complete, we called to get them to take away the test valves after the county had finished their inspection. They told us to simply "take off the tester." I don't exactly have the skills to disconnect a gas connection and close up a gas line. We weren't sure we heard right, or maybe talked to the wrong person- so our contractor called back and asked again, he was blown away that he received the same response. We ended up using our contractors plumber & let The Gas Connection go. Not happy with their close out on the project. The gas connection came within a few days of me calling for a quote. They called back regularly to check on my scheduled service, and did a great job with the install. I highly recommend their work! read more

CUSTOMERS BEWARE: The owner is ignoring facts, twisting the truth, and is using their track record as "proof" that the customer is always WRONG. FACT: Techs wanted to leave (and not come back) WITH the boiler gas line CONNECTED FACT: CUSTOMER (me) ARGURED with the techs AND the sales rep to make sure leaks didn't exist AFTER gas is turned on FACT: Leaks were found and THEN the boiler was DISCONENECTED FACT: Emergency work "completed" did NOT restore heat FACT: Utility company demanded we fix ALL leaks. Only SOME leaks were fixed FACT: Tech NEVER declined fixing the gas valve to the boiler until AFTER PAYMENT The owner is making a false and defamatory statement by saying "The customer then wanted us to hookup an illegal shut-off that was leaking by his furnace." I was the one who DEMANDED the techs make sure no leaks existed AFTER gas was turned ON. They wanted to LEAVE with a CONNECTED gas line. Because leaks existed, I was COMPLETELY in AGREEMENT that they disconnect the line to the boiler. The other owner of the building witnessed this interaction. The owner is making a false statement by saying "He was informed from the beginning we did not service furnaces/boilers and that a company that specializes in that field would have to perform the work since the faulty shutoff was integrated with the pilot system." I was informed AFTER PAYMENT and was PROMISED by the tech that it would be no issue to fix AFTER gas was turned back on. The fine print in the quote says that the price reflects a 20% discount if paid after first trip, which is BEFORE city inspection. The certification sheet they send with the quote include HVAC and steam (furnace/Boilers) in their realm of expertise. I leave these reviews because we were exploited and paid for an incomplete job that would have left gas leaking into our home if I did not intervene. Instead of the owner taking responsibility for this failure, he lies about the facts and lets his ego get to his head. read more

Aaron just left our home less than an hour ago, and after speaking with my wife about the experience, I had to leave a review. Aaron was amazing. From friendly conversation to vacuuming after he was finished, my wife felt very comfortable and happy with the Gas Connection and Aaron. We installed a 1932 gas stove and Aaron was super friendly and complimentary. We were worried that we'd get somebody trying to steer us away from our antique appliance, but instead got somebody supportive and willing to make it work and walk my wife through what to watch for, etc. Thank you, The Gas Connection. We will recommend you and use you again if we need to! read more

I would highly recommend this company along with their serviceman Tom. He was very prompt, knowledgeable and had the 2 fireplaces looking and operating better than new. The pricing is extremely reasonable for the cleaning/maintenance service we received. When I had a small issue several days after, Tom returned promptly the day I called to address it. I will definitely use them again and recommend them to friends. read more

I would give zero stars if possible, we thought that something didn't seem right when they gave an estimate over the phone , I even questioned Mike several times on the amount of time he thought a 4ft gas line for our grill would take , he stated several times "our guys are fast " we stated we did NOT want a surprise bill when the job was complete. that's exactly what happen , we were charged $105.00 over the estimate, and tried to charge $62.00 for the quick disconnect coupler that anyone can buy at Lowe's for $9.99 I tried to someone that might care and all I got was the same old lying garbage , repeating the same bs over and over again thinking I was going to go away. Liars , Cheats and Thieves! Stay away! read more

Recently had a wonderful experience with the gas connection. Everyone I talked to from the estimator to the actual service men were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Unfortunately our gas lines weren't up to code and needed appliance regulators to limit gas pressure in the house. They were able to come out the same day for an estimate. The only issue I would say is they are so busy couldn't come out for a few days later but were very apologetic and tried to squeeze me in. Overall great experience and if I ever need further work (hopefully won't) would definitely call them again. read more

Doug did the annual maintenance on our gas fireplace, and once again, a thorough, professional job - thank you Doug!

When Xcel came to my rental house over Memorial Weekend for a gas leak, they recommended that we call The Gas Connection. Due to the holiday, we decided had to wait until Tuesday for a technician. Start to finish, this company was well worth the wait! Mike called me promptly Tuesday morning to go over my pricing and repair options. Since my gas was turned off, I received priority service. Justin (a rockstar) called me when he completed his other service call and arrived an hour earlier than I expected (Whew!). He arrived with an assistant named JJ. Both technicians worked speedily and professionally! I decided to install an additional gas line while they were at the house for a gas stove since they were already in my crawlspace. They tested for additional leaks, and I now feel safe and secure. Thank you, Gas Connection!!! read more

Highly recommend! I reached out to my neighbors on Nextdoor for a referral for a gas company because I was contemplating converting from an electric cooktop to a gas cooktop, but having a gas line installed was kinda freaking me out. A neighbor immediately referred the Gas Connection because he has used them three times and was very complimentary of their services. I contacted the Gas Connection directly, as well as try to obtain bids from other vendors via Home Advisor. All of the employees at the Gas Connection were super nice and accommodating. I spoke with Mike and he asked me what my job would entail, and then, based upon my description or work, e-mailed me an estimate which I felt was incredibly reasonable. Only one of the three Home Advisor vendors I requested quotes from responded and came and gave me a quote that was nearly three times as much and made suggestions about using a more expensive pipe, etc. I went ahead and scheduled a time with the Gas Connection for the line to be installed but then encountered some delays with the delivery of the cooktop so I contacted Jared and explained the situation and rescheduled. A day or two before my scheduled appointment, Jared reached out to me to make sure everything was still a go as he recalled my cooktop delivery dilemmas. The technician, Aaron, contacted me first thing in the morning and gave me an estimated time of arrival and showed up a couple of minutes before. When Aaron and (sorry, I don't remember the other gentleman's name) showed up, they were super nice, explained what they were going to do, put down protective materials on my floors and they were very nice to my little dog Max. The pipe was installed very neatly and timely, Aaron went over what they did and showed me where the shut off valves were, conducted a pressure test, hooked everything up to the cooktop and tested it and now I'm cookin' with gas and couldn't be happier. The whole experience with the Gas Connection has been awesome and I would definitely use them again and would most definitely recommend them! read more

We feel good about the job done to install gas lines both for our new fireplace insert and for our outdoor patio hookup. However, the permit process was agonizing because the drawings submitted did not match the work done! And when the inspector came back, the new drawing apparently matched the old drawing! So it dragged out a bit, and I did not like that the Gas Connection staff chose to make excuses rather than simply apologize. (Anybody notice how hard it is to get a simple apology these days from a service provider? Most of us accept that things can go wrong, and a plain old "We're so sorry" is easier to accept than a long-winded "well, this happened and that happened and blah blah blah.") Also, a contractor friend said we overpaid. So shop around a bit. read more

The JOB Pressure test the leak for a total of three appliances (furnace, stove, and fireplace) Shut off two valves where leaks were found Replaced two fittings but didn't complete the job. COST = $1,479 2 people worked for the first hour at the premium rate of $500 4 people worked on it for the last 2 hours. At $140 per hour for a total of $1,120 In other words, they charged $550 per hour for 3 hours to pressure test and replace two fittings. DID THEY FIX THE ISSUE? NO Here are the details of what happened. We were notified of a leak and asked the Gas connection to help us with it. They were very professional, very helpful, and on time. The job was to check a leak on a gas line that's connected to 3 units, Furnance, Stove, and Fireplace. They ask us to sign an authorization we agreed. The estimate was 1hr at $499 and then $140 per hour per person after that. We said sure, it's just testing a leak on 3 items. We were surprised to get a $1,500 bill and the issue was not resolved. What was most frustrating to me was their inability to provide you details of what was done. I had to call and email several times before they were able to say what was done. I rarely write reviews and I understand what it takes for a small business to build customer based and how much this could cost them but the way they conduct their business needs to be shared so you are aware of what to expect. My recommendation: don't give them a blanket approval. Ask them to check in with you every hour or every job for an extension of approval. read more

The Gas Connection helped us clean and do a quick repair on our gas fireplace in November 2020; the previous owners hadn't taken good care of it and it wasn't working. The scheduling process was easy, and the gentleman who came was on time and very genuine and friendly. He was efficient and communicated what he was doing during the process. Payment was easy and the amount I was quoted, so overall very happy with the experience and we will call the Gas Connection next time we need help with our fireplace! read more

Great company. Kevin was great to work with for the estimate and the gas line install went as planned and on budget. Thanks.

Super friendly staff and they did an amazing job for a fair price. I was skeptical on going with a big company thinking that they would be more expensive compared to a small independent plumber. I was wrong. Not only did their price come in lower than the 2 other plumbers I talked with, but I'm pretty confident that their work was way better than I would have gotten with either of the other plumbers. The installers (Aaron and Don) went above and beyond what they were required to do and what I expected/paid for. Aaron was familiar with the gas fireplace insert I was installing so he gave me some valuable advice and even hooked up the gas line to the fireplace, set the remote, and tested it all out. Additionally, they painted the gas meter, existing gas line, and the gas line they installed which much better matches my red brick. I'm certainly going to call them if I need gas work elsewhere. read more

I wish I could say something positive, but this was not a great experience. After reading other reviews, I guess it shows they do not have much of a commitment to customer service. We used them based on a referral from the store where we bought our fireplace insert. They installed our gas fireplace insert on a Thursday. We noticed Thursday night that the fan never came on, even when we manually turned it on. We called on Friday morning to report the issue. A supervisor called us back and said he would have the installer come back out to fix it, because clearly it wasn't installed correctly. We would have been perfectly fine with that, but that's not what happened. Instead, after we didn't hear back from anyone to schedule it, we called them. This time they sent us over to the scheduler, who said it was now a service call and the earliest service appointment they had was the following Thursday. :-/. We paid $1500 for the work, and had to wait a week for it to be completed properly. This wasn't anything special or challenging or difficult. Quite simply, they should have had the original installer come and 'finish' the job the next day. read more

Great Service and Workmanship The owner came out to provide the estimate and was courteous and professional. He was running a tad behind for the late day appointment, but took the time to call and let me know. Then Joe showed up to do the install and was great. The connection was made and he left the area spotless, even replacing some ceiling tiles that I had removed so that he could access the site. We've had many services done in our house over the past 20 years, and seen many types of providers. The people at The Gas Connection are by far the best we've seen. Neat, Clean, Courteous (removed shoes in the house). In this current employment environment, I'd imagine that you have to treat your top talent well in order to retain them. I could tell after meeting the owner that he was the kind of person that would treat people well and I wasn't surprised a the work Joe (and his associate, whose name I wish I could recall) did. Even the person who set up the appointment for the estimate was first rate; articulate and courteous. I highly recommend them for any gas work !!! read more

DO NOT USE - The Gas Connection As a contractor with over 30 years in the business we have used vendors of all types many times over. Yesterday I was shocked at the way our staff was treated when we called to voice a concern. The installers are very nice and do a good job but from the receptionist (who seems to be corporate policy maker), bookkeeper and all the way up to the owner at The Gas Connection not at all impressed. We asked for a full quotation to run a gas line from the front of the house to the back for a BBQ connection. Received quote all good, and notice an extra charge to have a permit and inspection. Having moved from Canada to Colorado, we want to be legal and compliant, so paying that extra fee that's fine, with no issues. We are used to paying for contractors who provide work after moving every 3 years and this being house number 5. It means actually to do that work 100%. Once the installation was done, the gas pipes could not be connected to the meter as part of the inspection requirement needing the pipe to be pressurized with a gauge that again was specific to our county and made sense. We were told that since we pulled a permit, we needed to pay for a tech to come back to finish the job. So since I pulled a permit, we now need to pay more..ok, that would have been fine if this was upfront and transparent. Yes, I know the quote indicates any additional work to hook up gas to appliances would be an extra trip; sure, that is fair, but to pay more to come back and finish the original scope? I called and emailed the office and was told that I should complain to my government about this, but not sure why proper business practices would be the government's fault? When I get a quote to do a job, I expect it to be done in full, not ¾ of the way, and I need to pay more to finish it. So, after this discussion, I was told they would talk to the owner to see what to do. No response. Keep in mind this is not about the money. It is about the principle of it and some constructive criticism to improve in the future. Regardless I need to get them back to finish the work so I can have a final inspection. I emailed, no answer; I talk to the technician that came by to drop off the permit to tell his estimator to call me; no call, I call the number nobody picks up. So in the end, I get the work finished by somebody else and call for final inspection myself. I will not use these people ever again, and I will make sure the other people relocating to Colorado for my company, and there will be a few also to use someone else. If you are in business, be business-like. Please do not ignore your customers and not call them back or make it right. Just want to indicate the technician was professional and did great work so nothing against the employees. And to be fair the owner did call and apologize when I send my first email questioning the above. read more
