I have had their chicken breast bone in and bone out, they were both extremely tough and chewy . I ordered a rib roast for Christmas when I went in to pick it up they gave me Choice beef. I asked them to give me prime I literally watched the guy take off the paper of the one I had just handed him and rewrapped it. I was throughly embarrassed that it was so tough and no flavor. Expensive food, but if you GO TO the store on the right days, there are good, healthy specials. In the winter with no transportation the store is useless to me as even as a loyalty member I cannot get the specials with delivery. I don't really think I will order from them again due to this, and will stop telling my customers how great the store is. We stopped by this store today since we haven't been in years. We didn't miss anything special. There's some items you won't find in the big box groceries but many items can be found in the regular grocery for about $2-$3 cheaper. The produce section is small and unimpressive. My husband saw some warm, roasted whole chickens in the center deli area -and being hungry- decided he wanted one. The worker didn't greet us, just stared at us until my husband asked if he could get a chicken. Then it was handed over without a word. I said, "Thank you. Have a nice day." That's when we finally got some kind of response with a mumbled "Thanks" and walking away. The cashier was friendly. She was also really quick and efficient, so we were out the door in just a couple of minutes. The store is clean, organized and easy to move throughout. When we got home we noticed that the deli counter employee had marked the chicken wrong. We were charged a full $2 more based on their mistake. In addition to being overcharged - the chicken was over-cooked and very dry. We tossed it in the trash. No wonder this store was empty at 2:30 p.m. on a Saturday. Kenwood Towne Centre parking lots were packed and Trader Joe's had a very long line wrapped around the side of the building with people waiting to get inside (which is why we decided to stop in here instead) yet this store was empty. I usually go to The Fresh Market in Oakley. I was running errands and wanted to stop by and get some Lemon Pepper Salmon from the Deli Section for Good Friday. Was waited on right away. Staff was very kind and quick. Pricing for grilled Lemon Pepper Salmon is only $7.99 which i not bad. The size is decent and taste great. You never have to wait a long time at check out because they are always fully staffed. The Fresh Market is very pricey, but I really love the deli section because I am always on the go and sometimes don't have time to cook dinner. There are a great selections of meals if you are vegetarian, love rotisserie chicken, sushi, etc. read more

I love their flavored coffee and some of their meats and cheeses. I bought some small buns and when I tried to use them, they were stale. Not a lot of money but this is yet another instance where I couldn't eat something I bought. Dry rotisserie chicken, tough pork are other issues I've had. Since I needed a bacon they carry, Nueskis which is fabulous, I decided to return the buns. I stood at the meat counter for several minutes before one of the butchers finally came out. He was in plain sight as they have large glass windows and could see me as well. Neither of them would look at me and the one guy never asked if I needed something...just went back in and ignored me completely. I gave up and when I returned the bread for a refund, explained what had happened, the cashier wasn't too concerned. They really need to work on customer service. Really disappointed as the decline of this place has been pretty steady. There is too much turnover and the new hires aren't even qualified. They are trained on the spot for the meat counter. Sadly several of the best staff has moved on to the new Whole Foods across the street. I went in today and was searching for the fresh sashimi grade ahi tuna and the pieces in the counter were just sad. Cannot believe they were even displayed for sale. They were falling apart. Had to buy frozen and changed my dinner plans. Though there weren't any customers at the meat and seafood department there was no staff to be found to ask what they had in back. In the past purchasing this product I often found the tuna steaks poorly cut and very fatty. Had to complain several times. They don't do it themselves is their excuse. I sear mine so it's important that it's cut well. I had been a loyal customer for years, but when the staff doesn't know what's advertised it's a bit disappointing. For instance, the chicken breasts and cutlets are supposed to be trimmed. No one knows this even tho it's always in their weekly email. One of the managers, not the meat counter manager mind you at the time they didn't have one, said he'd been there for three years and had never heard of this. I've repeatedly shown them this email and to no avail the chicken is never trimmed. This is disappointing as I generally shop here on my lunch break and really don't have time to wait.Especially if there are several people ahead of me. The last time I asked them to trim it it was completely butchered. Of course, I didn't realize this until I was getting ready to cook it. The cuts were uneven and it was more like hack marks as opposed to near edges. I had a 20% off coupon that one of the meat department staff at Oakley had given me. It was a little past expiration and this meat guy told me that he thought even the Kenwood location would still honor it if I told them his name. A manager that had come from West Chester informed me that she didn't know of this employee like I had made it up seemed her angle. Funny thing is when I went back and saw him in Oakley he knew exactly who she was. This hadn't been the been the first time I had encountered woman. She has a tendency to be stand offish and a bit offensive with how she had handled my issues by talking down to me. Trust me in when I say I will never step foot in her store. As of now the Oakley location is where I choose to shop unless I need something in a pinch and it's convenient. I used to shop the Kenwood store multiple times a week for their specials. Between the Oakley store and the Kenwood Whole Foods I don't really get into this location much any longer. read more

The only reason I ever come here is to get Rick Bayless' Chili Starters. They are the only place in the entire Cincinnati area that carry them. They are amazing. Take my advice and try the green chili one! As soon as I walked in I noticed a weird smell almost like something had gone bad out front. Immediately to my right I saw the potted herbs - great! I needed some sage. Every. single. herb plant was rotted and the herbs were brown and dead. Not like, on their way out - but full on brown and dead. Who let this pass?! Then onto the produce. It is neatly displayed sure, but it is lesser quality and higher priced than what you can find at a nicer Kroger Marketplace. I hate comparing businesses this is an obvious comparison that missed on both levels. Also - the takeaways are a rip off and they don't even look fresh. I picked up a small container of elbow pasta with pesto on it and it was $7! WHAT?! I literally just made 6 containers full for a picnic recently for the same price or less. I will admit they have an impressive array of peanut butters, nuts, and candies. If overpriced nuts in a fancy scoop your own box is what you are looking for - they have it! This place is, like Whole Foods, is pretty pricey. At least for me it is. The products they carry are certainly the kind that I prefer to buy, but I feel like I can find reasonable prices at Trader Joe's. However, I ventured into The Fresh Market today because Graeter's announced on Instagram that The Fresh Market would be selling their pints buy one get one free! There weren't any signs or stickers announcing the sale - the pints were simply marked $5.99 ($1 more than at Kroger's or at Graeter's stores). However, I was pretty sure the sale was in fact going on because the shelves were nearly empty. There were only four flavors left - vanilla, Bourbon Pecan, Coconut Chocolate Chip and Black Cherry Chocolate Chip. I took the last pint of Coconut Chocolate Chip and one of the last Black Cherry Chocolate Chips. When I approached the cashier, I asked if the sale was indeed still running. Although he didn't know anything about it, it rang up buy one get one free, so I was good to go. The cashier also checked their flyer and it was listed there. I went yesterday for first time. I bought oranges, carrot sticks, beef, and sweet potatoes. Thus far I've eaten carrot sticks and an orange. They were both incredibly bland. The Fresh Market ain't so fresh! I've never been & my friend and I stopped there after lunch in the area to pick up some snacks for a New Year's Eve party. The man working in the deli wasn't very friendly when I asked about some Brie cheese but happily assisted another customer. The women's bathroom in the store was DISGUSTING! There were 2 stalls, one didn't have toilet paper & the other had feces on the seat and "used" toilet paper on the floor. When I told an employee he seemed unphased. I was not pleased. The only redeeming quality was the amazing smell of the coffee brewing in the store. It smelled great! I will never shop there. I expect more from an "upscale" grocery store in that area. read more

This is one of two Fresh Market locations in Cincinnati. This particular location is just now a year old, and it's easier to get in and out of than the Oakley area location, I think. I shop there for fresh seafood and meat, produce, specialty items and fresh flowers. They have wonderful cookie, pastry and fresh bread choices. They also feature prepared foods: rotisserie chicken, salads, wings, etc. and have a huge selection of cheeses. Such a disappointment - always look at the fish before you buy! We are Fresh Market regulars in Oakley - probably 2 to 4 times per week - buying a variety of items, but specifically meats and fish. We were in the Kenwood area and decided to see if they had any Chilean sea bass in stock. There was only one small and thin piece in the case, but the butcher volunteered to see if there was anymore and offered to go ahead and cut another piece for us to grill. We were SO DISAPPOINTED when we got home tonight and realized that the man who had cut our sea bass (@$29.99/lb) gave us a very small and thin cut (4oz) and a very large and thick cut (12oz). THIS GUY KNEW BETTER! We regularly shop Fresh Market because of the quality of the foods and service. THIS WAS SO UNACCEPTABLE. read more

Fresh Market is one of those awesome stores that you walk in to with the intention of buying one or two things and yet leave with several delicious items. I prefer it to Trader Joe's because I feel that is has a better layout and a better selection. It is worth noting that Fresh Market's prices are a bit higher than Trader Joe's. The absolute best area of this store is the meat and seafood. It's so incredibly fresh and the quality is excellent. My husband always requests Fresh Market steaks for his birthday rather than going out to eat. I have to admit that the steaks we always get are melt in your mouth delicious. Again, you can expect to pay a pretty penny for any fresh meat or seafood but it's worth it. They also have a very large produce section and floral section that I often find myself frolicking through. They have a really fun and impressive candy and coffee section in the middle of their store. I love stopping over here because they have some "healthier" candy options for my kids. The organic vitamin C gummies and suckers are our personal favorite. They sell candy by the pound which is always fun and nostalgic. What I really appreciate about Fresh Market is that they are always fully staffed meaning you can easily find an employee to answer a question or assist you in finding something. i stopped in today to look for some fresh whole grain bread, and found a very limited selection. All of the bread items in the bakery section looked to be made of white flour. I did buy one bamboo charcoal round loaf that was very good. while checking out, the clerk didnt even acknowledge me, or make eye contact. She seems so stuck up! I finally said "how are you doing today?" she replied and asked after me also, but with a very flat disinterested tone. She left my two grocery bags on the counter and took my cart and put it away in the car rack without seeing if i needed it to get to my car, and total ignored me. There is no excuse that a store so high priced would have check out clerks that are just rude! Ill probably never return. I don't shop here often. It's just not convenient for me, but I happened to be shopping and needed dinner fixings. They had a pretty good selection of seafood. Bought a nice piece of snapper. Also walked by the ready-made section and noticed a sign for ordering a brie en croute for the holidays. It comes in three flavors (raspberry almond, apricot and some nut, and cranberry walnut I think). We called and ordered two raspberry almond wheels to bring to two different holiday parties. Also picked up containers of crispy french bread rounds in the bakery section to spread the brie on. We baked them before the parties, and they were the a hit! Not a bit left of mine. My hubby's was almost finished as well. Both got great reviews from the guests. They ran about $15. Would definitely buy again! read more

Very pricey. Produce is so-so. Can get better quality for the price at Pipkin's. Meat department has good quality but employees are not so friendly. Ordered a large order of chicken cutlets for a cookout a few days in advance. They didn't have my order at pick up time. So came back an hour later to pick up our "new" order and it was obvious whoever prepared my order was not happy. When I came home and unwrapped my very expensive chicken, nothing looked like a cutlet and I spent more time cutting and trimming than I did making any other food item that day. Rarely do I wait in line at the checkout. If I do, someone comes running to open another line. Aisles are not filled with kids nor people on their cell phones talking loud and blocking your path. ----- $2.99 Tuesdays - with great ground beef and boneless chicken breasts (not organic, but antibiotic free and hormone free) A wonderful value! Chicken breasts are huge and fresh. ----- They have a crispy, thin, salted caramel cookie that your guests will be impressed with- no matter who they are. This is not the place for 100% of your shopping, but for certain specialty items that they excel in, great hot rotisserie chicken breasts done in the store and sandwiches made to order. If you are in a hurry, this is the place to go! If you only want a few choice treasures or something for a party... perfect! They will even help you do a nice package to take as a hostess gift in their floral department. This is a really great store. They have a fabulous bakery. Some of the best hamburger/hotdog buns, cakes, cookies, donuts, bagels, and sweet breads ever. I don't know how all of their bakery items are so moist and delicious. Plus they have lots of great organic produce, fresh meat and fish, and unique specialty items throughout the store. Fresh Market is a different kind of Grocery store. Oh yes. I don't know how someone with less-than-great eye sight will find anything in this store, because of the 'Gourmet' lighting they have in the store keeps the dark inside. Sometimes when i don't want to make the trip to Biggs to buy just one thing, I give in and go here.As always, i come out with not just the one thing. Compared to Whole Foods which has the national chain strength, TFM has less variety of stuff. But both seem to have contracted different vendors as far as non-produce stuff is concerned. TFM is much more pricey also. Where as Whole Foods is the heaven of hipsters, I see mostly 30+ women and men in Fresh Market. Some of the stuff like Okra chips or veggie chips which my wife loves, can be found only here. I really wish we had something like the Sunflower market of Denver, where you could get Organic and similar stuff without paying much premium price. Real reason I prefer to go to Biggs (Hyde Park location) here, is that they have the same Organic milk and produce at a lower rate. The other day i found Natural Delight dates here (which are really tasty).Somehow i find that if you need ripe bananas, this is the place to go. Even with a name fresh market, their produce section was underwhelming. They have the same non-organic stuff you get in Kroger, just marked up. I looked at the Trauth milk and realized it is $1 more than Biggs. "Ah to hell with it." I thought, I don't want to make the 15 minutes trip to Biggs. read more

Fresh Market is a good store. The highlight of it is their prepared foods and their specials. They have a good selection . It is not as big as whole foods, which is great if you only need a few things, but it does not have the variety of whole foods has, so there is a trade off there. Not everything they sell is natural or organic, but it means they sell some things that you cannot get at Whole foods. NON ORGANIC at ORGANIC PRICES Not a fan of this place which should be called MEXICO MARKET (nearly 80% of the produce is from Mexico and CONVENTIONALLY GROWN) that's grocery speak for NON-ORGANIC. The meat counter is also not a butcher...you can't get anything done specially but they do have a nice selection and are very helpful. How do you survive when you are a small-sized store and you are just moments away from Trader Joe's? Yes, the selection here is not as extensive as Kroger's, nor as low-priced as Aldi or Trader Joe's, but what they do carry (especially the produce and fish/meat) is extremely fresh. Although this should be enough to enter the store, there are two words that ensure repeat business: customer service. There are always plenty of employees available to answer questions and help in any way possible. They often go above and beyond their job descriptions on numerous occasions. I can recall a time where I was unable to find Thousand Island dressing that was essential to a recipe that I had planned on preparing for dinner one evening. The stock person checked their aisle and then asked me to wait a moment. He returned a few moments later with a container from the deli counter filled with Thousand Island dressing. He apologized for having to charge me a nominal amount for the dressing, and then disappeared to the back of the store. On another occasion, the person manning the machines in the back of the meat counter went on break, and I was unable to wait and get some meat ground for the dinner I had planned that evening. The manager remembered my disappointment in not being able to follow through with my dinner plans for that evening, and presented me with a $10 credit towards my next purchase...nearly three weeks later when he happened to see me in the store. I could cite numerous other examples of how wonderfully the staff treats their customers, but I think you get the gist. Yes, their prices are not the lowest, but I feel that the extra effort they put into making everything right for their customers is worth every extra cent. read more

The only reason I give this place 2 stars as opposed to 1 is their Tuesday meat specials. Other than that, it is very pricey. I tend to pop in once a week to grab a to-go salad for lunch, but have finally had enough. Probably every other trip the check out lines are 10 people deep (15-20 min). There is never a manager in sight. They never open additional lanes to accommodate demand. All the cashiers are painfully slow, and are typically forced to bag as well. It is like most of the employees are numb zombies just trying to slog through the day. It is infuriating and it happens very often (ditto the line at the butcher on Tuesdays). The salads are just mediocre. It is a further trip for me, but I will just go to the salad bar at the Madeira Kroger or grab a salad from Honeybaked in the future. Can't believe this place is still ticking given how poorly this individual store is managed. read more
