I'm thankful for a housemate who is such an amazing cook. She referred me to Halal Market because she saw that I was running out of rice. Halal Market had a 10 lb bag of rice for 6.99! Halal Market also has Laziz Bakery and Cafe as its restaurant arm. The market itself serves up a combination of both dry and fresh grocery that apparently is enough to serve the large Muslim population around this area. They have many different brands of tahinis, roasted eggplants (for your own baba). A particular highlight is their extensive selection of baklavas. Oh yeah, they also have one of the most diverse collections of hookahs I've seen in a while. There is a butchery in the back where they sell fresh halal meats (hence, Halal Market). Their frozen sections has a fairly large selection of labnehs, yogurts (of both cow and goat), and frozen entrees including kebabs, samosas, and meatballs. Various bread offerings (pita, naan, etc.) round out the grocery selection. On the restaurant side, they have a simple menu composed of beef/pork/chicken shawarmas and fatoosh salads. Alternatively, you can get rice or fries as a side. But why would you get fries when there's so much more authentic stuff available? They also serve up the only liver sandwich around. Cheap, fast, and the service is exceptionally friendly. All in all, this is one of our favorite places in the West Chester area. read more

The restaurant arm of the market is amazing. The shawarma sooo delicious: chicken, pickles, french fries, that nameless sauce. Ingredients that sound good together in a wrap, but you're just not sure because it brings memories of lunch in a middle school cafeteria. Seriously it works. I wish there were more middle eastern restaurants that could conjure up an amazingly simple shawarma in Cincinnati. The za'atar is Syrian style where its already sprinkled on the pita and drizzled with olive oil, think savory and herby pizza. It also soo tasty! Falafel and Hummus are both really good and even better together. The restaurant is inside a market where you can buy a bunch of different random things. This is probably one of the worse reviews I've written. But 1st off they lied and over charged me for something they didn't have. I had went in the store last week to buy ground lamb and a bunch of other things. I had went to the counter to ask if they had ground lamb, at first I was told no but then he took a second glance and played off that it would take 15 and he confirmed that they did "indeed" have it. So I waited 15 minutes for them to give me the meat . When I went home to cook it, I noticed that they meat smelled like beef after opening it and then I cooked it and most definitely wasn't lamb. It was beef. To top it off they charged me 22$ for two pounds . Definitely will not be going back here. read more

The worst place to shop at. Not only the store is horribly dirty but also the quality of service is terrible (what a surprise!). We asked for some lamb meat and specifically asked that it be without ANY fat or bones TWICE only to get home and find pieces of bones and fat on LITERALLY every single piece of meat... Had the butcher be paying more attention to what we were asking instead of staring at my wife's chest the whole time like a perv he would have got it right I guess. We felt really uncomfortable while we were waiting. The same night I talked about this to some of our friends and they had experience exactly the same uncomfortable situation while shopping there (wow what a surprise again!!!). I have been trying to expand my horizons and show my palate that there are other amazing dishes in the world besides the norm. Halal Market did not disappoint. I wasn't sure what to expect when walking in because it was a market/deli/restaurant all in one. Many of the things on the shelves looked interesting even though I didn't know what they were, but if I had any questions the staff were incredibly friendly and helped me along the way. I tried a couple different drinks out of the cooler section and I found that I really liked the bitter cherry drink and the papaya drink in the cool shaped bottle! After wandering around and taking a mental inventory of the yummy looking sweets by the cash register I headed over the restaurant. I decided to try the sampler appetizer because it would allow me to try a few different things. They make it all fresh to order so it takes a bit, and gives you plenty of time to wander around. When my sampler was ready they called my name, and I was ready to try baba ganouj, hummus, Labneh & Falafel. When I ordered it I had no idea what any of it was. When he handed me the bag I was surprised to see so much food. I had my container and 2 large pieces of pita bread. I opened the container and realized that the pita bread was for dipping into the baba ganouj (Roasted & Smoked Eggplant puree.), hummus (Mashed chick peas blended with Tahini), and Labneh (Strained yogurt, mint.) My personal fave... yum!!! The box also included Falafel which are fried beans and vegetable patties. Also fantastic. The prices are very good for all that you get, and as far as lunch goes I think they are much cheaper than your typical sit down restaurants or even many of your fast food places, and the quality of the food is much better! This place is a little hidden, so you may not even know it's back there! But if you are going into the Meijer drive in take a left at the stop sign and it will take you to the plaza. the service here isn't great. they're slow and may ignore you sometimes. the food at the restaurant is good. chicken shawarma sandwich is always a go-to (ask for extra garlic sauce on the side). falafel wrap is a little dry. pepperoni pizza (halal beef) is good only if you ask for extra pepperoni and for it to be well-done. the market has the essentials and some good snacks. meat counter can get a little rough for a woman when it's busy and there are a lot of men. it's also hectic on fridays after jummah. read more

This place is a hidden gem, it seems that only the locals know about it, maybe because of its hidden location? I'm not sure why but it easily connected to I-75 so it's great spot to hit up for a quick lunch or dinner, I highly recommend the chicken shawarma, the chicken is spiced just right and finished off with a tasty garlic sauce that many restaurants seem not to do it right. The Chicken is not halal, it is machine slaughtered(told by the owner), making the chicken not Zabihah halal. They do not mention this because it would obviously bring Business down, but misleading your customers is not right. Especially when %98 of their customers are Muslims looking for halal chicken. They claim to sell hand slaughtered chicken and machine slaughtered, but why sell both if you're running a "HALAL" market. I'm not sure about the ground beef or anything else, but I'm not trusting them anymore. Bottom line is they are selling non-halal food in a so called "HALAL" market. Don't buy their chicken if you're wanting halal. Someone needs to do some research on them, it hurting the Muslim community around them. read more

This is such a great place to find something new. It is situated in a strong Muslim community and as such stocks authentic products from the Middle East. If you need something interesting you should definitely talk to the butcher in the back. This is also where you can satisfy your sweet tooth at the little cafe. This is my go to place in the Cincinnati area for halal meat and spices from West Asia, North Africa and the Indian subcontinent. They have an amazing selection of beef, lamb, chicken and goat meat. The staff are friendly and will cut the meat in accordance with your preferences - you want medium sized pieces for that Kebab you are making? Or a large cut you are planning to roast? Or whole legs of chicken ready to be grilled? They got it. They have ground beef and chicken, and if you want it they will grind some lamb for you. Occasionally they also sell marinated ground beef, ready to be turned in to Kebabs. Their collection of spices and condiments is extensive. You can also a find a number of brands of basmati rice from the Indian subcontinent. They also sell drinks like ayran (flavored yogurt drink) and non alcoholic beverages like laziza. I recently found beef bacon and I am excited to try it. I hosted two dinners for my coworkers (around 20 people) and you need a very accommodating butcher to have your back to pull it off. This is middle eastern market featuring Halal foods (halal is to muslems what kosher is to jews) . While the food is from all over the world, most peoples favorites are in the middle eastern section. They have an excellent selection of fresh pita, lamb & goat in the meat market, canned hummus, baba ghanouge, halvah and a bunch of sweet bakery items. Their prices are much cheaper than the chain grocery stores.The staff will answer questions if you don't understand the labels.They are friendly to everybody (I'm Christian), so don't get paranoid. read more

I have ordered a whole lamb as a catering order for a party last week. They will literally rip you off if you do so. They told my they will charge me $10 per pound.
