If I remember correctly, Bombay Grocers opened around 4 years ago, and it used to be the "Go-to" place to shop for Indian groceries. If you love Indian food, and are interested in cooking it, then you have to make a trip to Bombay Grocers.
Bombay Grocers is conveniently located in Sharonville area , just off 275. I love the variety of fruits and vegetables they have in stock. If you go there on Saturdays, you are always guaranteed fresh produce. The produce is very reasonably priced and very very cheap compared to what you would get it for at Kroger. You get all kinds of veggies, from Onions, tomatoes, potatoes, bell peppers, cauliflower to specialty Indian stuff like Okra, fresh fenugreek, bottle gourd, small Indian eggplants, raw mangoes, hot peppers, and oh yes.. Cilantro. Cilantro is very reasonably priced (two bunches for $1 as opposed to $1.50/ bunch at Kroger). They have a wide variety of spices, lentils and long grain Basmati rice, which are all reasonably priced.
They have tons of stuff from India.... from prepackaged snacks (must try), juices, incense, cooking utensils, sandalwood soaps. Honestly, I get everything at Bombay grocers what I would get back home in India.
If you love Indian food, but don't know how to cook it, don't worry... this is your place. They have a mind-boggling selection of prepackaged Indian meals and spice mixes, all from reputed companies back in India. They also have a ton of ready to eat Frozen meals in their Freezer section : I would recommend the "Naan Pizza" and also prepackaged frozen Indian lunches called "Healthy tiffin"... these two items are definitely a must try. The owners are very friendly and helpful and will readily assist you in case you have any questions.
Oh.. one last thing : If you love your coffee., then you have to buy the delicious Indian "filter coffee" powder that they sell at the store. Indian filter coffee is a mixture of Coffe and chicory (almost like the coffee at Cafe du Monde in New Orleans ) and when you brew it in your coffee maker or your espresso maker (the later is recommended), you serve it with some milk and sugar.... so, coffee fans, buy your filter coffee at Bombay Grocers.
Overall, I highly recommend a visit to Bombay Grocers, go there for the selection and prices. This store has helped me preserve my cooking traditions and doesn't make me miss home that much... read more
