Gosou yaki is a specific castella that was made in south of Japan, Nagasaki. Love it!

Too bad they don't have my favorite Japanese baked castella cake and Kinoko-no-Yama chocolate cookies! Owner is very nice and friendly.lots of Korean snack and Icecream are available still!

It took a while to find this store, hidden behind the United Dairy Farmers convenience store and filling station. The little strip mall seems to be in an unlikely area for a Korean grocery store. The prices seem to be influenced by the real estate but they're still reasonable. They had the soon dubu--the really, really extra soft tofu sold in tubes, along with the spice mix so that you can make your own jjigae--Korean stew. They also had the side dish containers of anchovies, often found in the ban chan at a Korean restaurant, or merely served at home on some daikon (white radish) but the price was about double what I expected, as the container was small. I found the UCC Milk Coffee that I like so well, even though it's a Japanese product. Apparently, the person at the register didn't know English, as "Hello" was all she said. I would have expected some Korean, but there wasn't any of that, either, even though she was having a conversation as I entered the store. Y&M has more of a variety of products, but if you need something specifically Korean (dried, refrigerated, or frozen), it's likely here, because it seemed as though any daily food items for a Korean family could be found.

This business is great. They stock very high quality ingredients. It's understandable that the average customer will say that the products are more expensive than jungle jims - that's because this is a specialized store and they stock the actual good stuff. I was so pleased to see dried sardines, tteboki ingredients, a whole section on gochujang, a good stock of kimchi, at least 5 varieties of roasted sesamie oil, etc. From what I can see, their three aisles of product selection is more than enough. They don't have a fresh meat selection, but they do have a small freezer with bulgolgi meat, and the thinly sliced porkbelly to make foods like Samgyeopsal - yum! I did my weekly shopping, and I'm so excited to start cooking! Made from ingredients from this wonderful store! Purple rice (very healthy, they serve this at Stone Bowl restaurant on Madison), bulgolgi with the bulgolgi marinating sauce, Korean style potato salad (fresh ingredients from Trader Joe's), spinach sautéed with toasted sesame oil with a sprinkle of sesame seeds, and tteboki made with their frozen rice cake and fish cake with the gochujang (spicy pepper chili paste). Definitely a one-stop place to make any Korean food!

It's a great alternative for Asian groceries when you don't feel like a long drive to Jungle Jim's.

I really wanted to love this place because of all the good things I heard about it. I drove over…read moretwo hours to try it out. I will say that I really loved the huge variety of everything in this store. We arrived on a busy Saturday at around noon (won't be doing that again) but easily found a good parking spot in the giraffe lot. I got a cart for my child and it had a baby steering wheel for her to play with to entertain her. You walk in and are instantly overwhelmed by all of the options- in a good and bad way. I don't think the store is messy by any means, it's an organized chaos. We followed the line of people throughout the different sections and strayed away a few times to look at some items. I liked the pickle barrels with 3/$3 whole pickles with different flavors to choose from. There's a HUGE alcohol section so if that is your fancy then you are sure to find what you are looking for there. The customer service was not very good. Workers had AirPods in and when you went to ask a question they acted like you were a huge bother. I will say that the bartenders at the random bars across the store were so nice. Maybe because a difference in roles? Not sure. What REALLY left a huge distaste in my mouth was the cashier and his helper that was bagging groceries. On my receipt it says Walter. I got up to him and said hello and he stared straight at me. After he was done scanning he didn't say anything at all he was just waiting for my card. My mom was right behind me with her items and got the same treatment. She even inquired about what rang up as $32 because it looked like a candy that was scanned came up as that much and he just stared at her as well. No troubleshooting, no help at all whatsoever. It was honestly like talking to a wall. His bagger also had the same attitude but both had no issue speaking to the cashier in the next lane when they had a question amongst themselves. You could just clearly tell they'd rather be literally anywhere else than working on a Saturday. It was honestly ridiculous to be ignored so blatantly like that. Overall if you need any type of grocery under the sun I would say come here. Don't come on the weekend though. I'd maybe come on a weekday during non peak hours and for sure won't be asking for help from any employee.

Huy Fong Vietnam Chili Garlic sauce in a jar.... Hong Kong moon cakes in mini tins within a beautiful gift tin. Quail eggs, duck eggs (fresh or pickled), bok choy, bean sprouts, exotic greens. Dried noodles, dried peppers, dried shrimp. "Houston Cowboy" brand flavored soda from the Philippines. Spare ribs, pork loin, ground pork, pork hearts, a whole pig's head looking right at me from the butcher section. A wall of frozen foods, didn't study them but I did notice pot stickers (imported from an Asian country, needless to say). English as a second (or third) language on every can, box and bag. Oh.... and Tiger Balm! It's a fully complete small local independent super mart. As a native New Yorker of Italian and Polish descent, I'd call this store THE most authentic, and complete, Asian mart in the area ... perhaps the only one, too? Been here twice, the other shoppers were all Asians, as were the staff. Felt like I was back on Main Street in Flushing for a while. Which is cool. The first time we stopped in, I bought a small jar of that chili garlic sauce, which is made by the same folks who bring you Sriracha rooster sauce. In fact the jar has the same rooster logo. Never saw it anywhere else and wanted to try it. That jar got used up PDQ so we came back today for the large economy size. And of course grabbed some other goodies as well. Gotta love those happy Asian cakes, cookies, and crunchies. Prices were more than reasonable, if you're looking to stock up on any type of Asian goods, I'd say skip Jungle Jim and come here instead. Friendly employees/owners, too, who seemed happily amused by my enthusiasm for Hello Kitty - and my reaction to the pig's head. Ahh, would that we had a similar ITALIAN mart within striking distance! I continue to hope and dream. This place is meant to be Asian, though, and since Asian it is, and a complete market, five stars it is.

She answered my questions and helped me find things. The produce, although a little disorganized, was fresh. Some of the packages simply said "vegetable" and I'm sure regular customers know what they are looking for, but again, I got lots of help. I wasn't impressed with the meat but I did get frozen salmon and halibut. The store is a bit cluttered but I think that it's fine. Don't be bougie about it and you'll be glad you went. I got a ton of fresh food for $42.
