Fabulous. Food is great, atmosphere is great and the service is great. I highly recommend the Foundry.

We come here a decent amount and that's why the review isn't 1 star...normally the food and service are kept at a decently high standard. Last night was the worst dining experience I've had over the last few years. The restaurant was maybe 50% full, guessing due to staffing issues (understandable, but everyone is dealing with that). Took 15 minutes to get our drinks, which didn't make a lot of sense considering they were just beers. The appetizers were good (as usual, again this was just a bizarre night). The major issues started to happen with the entrees...my wife ordered the red grouper, $26. Came out absolutely raw in the center, which tells me it's frozen. Waitress took it back, didn't apologize or anything, and just began to walk away. We stopped her and asked if my wife could get something else, she rolled her eyes and said sure. Salmon came out 15 mins later, teetering on raw again but edible. We needed another set of silverware since the first ones were taken away with the grouper, waitress said no problem and then immediately went to the computer and proceeded to stand there for 5 mins. Need to prioritize tasks!!! I waited tables for years and this was pathetic, she had 3 total tables to deal with. We just grabbed a set from another table, since she never came back with any... Then we got to the bill...she had a 10 top that she was individually splitting, and spent 20 mins (not an exaggeration) at the computer attempting to split it, even as it was obvious that the two smaller tables were ready to leave. Eventually came over to both and said "hi their checks are going to take a while, I'll do yours now". Ended up bringing our checks (nothing was accurate but we just wanted to get out of there) and rolled her eyes again as we paid. Probably shouldn't be splitting 10 tops to begin with but that's just bad policy. It's very nice having a restaurant that we enjoy so close to home, but another visit like this and we won't ever be back. read more

What a great experience! This is a gated community. Stopped at their gate and asked if we could go to their restaurant. The gatehouse attendant was very pleasant and let us in. We walked into the restaurant and was seated by the manager, Nina. A very nice, accommodating woman. Certainly an asset to The Foundry. Our meals were all excellent. I tried their meatball app. These meatballs are house made, coated with a delicious marinara sauce. I was loving them! Others ordered beautiful salads and fish and chips. Everyone loved their meals and the atmosphere. Can't wait to come back! read more

This is a beautiful restaurant but the lighting is excessive...they need lower wattage bulbs or dimmers in multiple areas that allows diners to see the menu/food but would make their atmosphere feel more relaxed. We had a lovely service experience by Jennifer which included a visit by a manager. The menu has a nice depth of offerings and the chef has clearly put a great deal of thought into the menu. We had calabash shrimp appetizer which included large crispy large shrimp with a slaw of vegetables and cilantro sauce...excellent. The Brussel sprout salad was highly recommended but we felt was a bit heavy, dry, lacking the punch of acid normally found in salads. For main courses we ordered the Spicy Italian pizza (aka meat lovers) which had a lovely light crust but there was an excessive quantity of toppings which made it heavy and challenging to eat. The wood grilled salmon was a bit cool and overcooked and the dish had an array of ingredients and sauces which felt a bit heavy handed. You can see the kitchen team puts a tremendous amount of work into their offerings but would probably benefit from some simplification of the dishes that allows the cooks to deliver excellence and take this restaurant from good to great. read more

Our girls night out pick of the month last week. Excellent space-modern, open, lots of big windows. Very friendly service. Outdoor seating available. A large community table in the middle. The menu is varied with probably something for everyone's taste. I had the special - Firecracker shrimp with fried rice and grilled asparagus. Another ordered a pizza. Shrimp were fresh and cooked well, as was the asparagus and rice. Very tasty with a little bit of heat. The pizza was hand tossed, and was reported to be very good. It was a thinner crust, I would have liked mine a tad bit crunchier. I'll have to go back and try the NC trout, a regular menu item. Thursday nights are $4 draft pints-bonus! The one tacky thing was serving tap water (that tasted of chlorine, or whatever is done to city water) in bottles - like it was pure water. All in all, a nice place to visit before the retirement community it is located in gets built up and it will no longer be available to the public (or so I've heard). read more

Nestled in a beautiful hoity-toity neighborhood this restaurant is definitely off the radar. You'll enter a prestigious gated community and it will seem like you're heading the wrong way, but you'll spot a big club house on your right and that's where you'll find "The Foundry" It's a beautiful location with lots of landscape and considering how pricey the neighborhood is, the prices are reasonable. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the menu has a nice variety of delicious food. I ordered the Pesto Chicken Pasta which was amazingly creamy and delicious, BUT the grilled chicken served with the pasta was extremely DRY and UNSEASONED. I think they should cook the chicken in the pasta for more flavor. The Herb Grilled Chicken Sandwich was hearty and full of flavor with ham, bacon and tasty avocado slices! Overall I would definitely recommend and would most likely return to try their dishes. The service was friendly and efficient. I love the Foundry. It's genuinely my favorite place to eat in the entire charlotte area. I wish they had longer hours bc I would eat here every day and night if I could. The menu has so many options, and they always have the most insanely delicious specials. Not to mention, the bunch menu is amazing. All the staff are incredibly nice and helpful. Both managers have really created the best environment. Trilogy itself created the best design for the layout of the restaurant for parking/dining. In the summer they have these contraptions that keeps bugs off. I love the Foundry!!! read more

Who would guess that a restaurant in a 55+ community would be so upscale and delicious...and such a swinging place! I was so pleasantly surprised upon my visit. Gorgeous appointments and a great menu! Everything is carefully and thoughtfully prepared and tastes delicious. On my last visit I had the special of the night which was a Poussin (small chicken) on risotto with peas and summer squash. The chicken was tender and seasoned perfectly throughout, and that presentation was beautiful! My friend had the filet and blue cheese salad with blueberries. It was perfect! The Foundry is excellent! Great variety of food. They offer everything from steaks to seafood, pizza, sandwiches, salads, soup etc.. something for everyone. They have a full bar with many drink options. I had the pot roast served with mashed potatoes and fresh veggies. It was so tender and delicious. My husband had the millionaire burger served with crispy hot French fries. It was huge and he said it was one of the best burgers he's had. Save room for the "butter cake" for dessert. This place is out of this world!! I'm afraid to "oversell" it, but it's fantastic! The food is SO good, especially for the price. Great deals, beautiful place, really great service and this food is just perfect. It's exactly as good as it looks. Perfectly done American/sports bar food in a nicer atmosphere. Let's start with this restaurant is in a gated community and we felt really weird trying to figure out how to get our food since it was our first time. We had the grilled chicken sandwich and the dog burger. The chicken was really tender and had good flavor. However the bun was really soggy from the to go container which obviously isn't anyone's fault. The dog burger was weird. The chili and the burger were delicious and had great flavor. The hot dog on the burger was just weird and too much. The fries are just your average fry. We will be back to try other foods once Covid isn't an issue so we can dine in. Also $14 for a chicken sandwich seemed a bit expensive for lunch. read more

I am very impressed with this restaurant. As you enter you will find a modern decor with an upscale feel. You will then be surprised by the value you find on the menu. I have been here twice and both times have been great. My wife had a butternut squash pasta the first time and I had the prime rib (both were specials). Great flavors and cooked perfectly. The second time she had a burger and I had pork saltimbocca with a fig and balsamic reduction. Friends also got a pizza that was extremely good. Definitely try The Foundry if you haven't and make sure to checkout the specials as they will not disappoint!! read more

This place is excellent with atmosphere and service. Food is also good- we haven't had anything we haven't liked, but the roast is particularly outstanding. We absolutely love this place. It starts with Nina greeting us like family. Then, the food: always fresh, well seasoned and just delicious every time. I say every time, because we have made it a weekly dinning experience. (Sometimes twice a week). Nina suggested the Bread Pudding.... OMG! 100% hit with my wife. She now gets it EVERY time we come. I demolished the Butter Cake and the Skillet Cookie. And I get it every time. The atmosphere is chill and the wait staff is always friendly and attentive. Our group of six went for in for lunch. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Our server came over immediately and took our drink order while we looked over the menu. We ordered the spicy chicken wings and meatballs for an appetizer and both were very tasty. For entrees we had the Reuben sandwich, the meatloaf sandwich, fish and chips, roasted vegetable and rice, and the hummus platter. Sandwiches were served with fries and small garden salads were also chosen. All of the food was delicious, the server was very attentive and kept our drinks refilled. The prices here for lunch are average $10-15 and the portions are large. We all agreed we would definitely come back for lunch and also will try them for dinner sometime. Just enjoyed their thanksgiving buffet. It was wonderful. I enjoyed the fresh salad, mashed sweet potatoes, cod with artichokes, prime rib with horseradish sauce and of course delicious turkey with gravy!! I've got mild a gluten intolerance so have to stay away from the bread stuffing which my husband said was delicious. My only complaint-the veggies. The cauliflower/ broccoli casserole was mushy, the Brussels sprouts - one of my favorites - were bland and green bean casserole - not a fan at all-Simple green beans please. For dessert we had the pumpkin pie and a lemon square, delicious but there was so much to choose from. This was well worth the price. read more

Last night was our first time there. Our waitress seemed to ignore us and took at least 20 minutes before she approached our table and took our drink order. She came back 15-20 minutes later to clarify our drinks. For some reason my husbands ordering a Sam Adams really threw her off. It took forever for our appetizer of calamari to come our as we watched tables that had been seated after us get their drinks and food. When our food finally arrived it was a disappointment. My husband said his Reuben was ok but I had ordered the Cuban. We moved here from Florida so I know a good Cuban and the chef needs to go to Florida to learn how to make one. It was dry, tasteless and overdone. This place is 10 minutes from our home but we will not be going there again. It's a waste of money. read more

Recently placed an order via Door Dash only to receive a very poor version of a wedge salad. The worst part is we paid for steak with the wedge salad but the steak was not included within the bag. We called to see if we could come and pick-up the steak but we're told the manager was too busy to come to the phone and would return our call. Working on day three of waiting on that return call. First time here and despite bad directions off of Open Table we found it! Celebrating my birthday and we received excellent care from Sam our server and Nina the manager. Made us feel special. Had lunch here today, first visit, I found the menu diverse and interesting as to the food combinations. I had the short rib tacos which were very good except they were in corn taco shells. I don't do corn. The coleslaw was very good and different from what I am used to. The other side was baked beans done very well. All in all the meal was filling well prepared and served hot. The ambiance was a change from the normal lunch places I go to. Very high end. Starched linen napkins open kitchen area and a very good staff.
