This is a very interesting place. A lot better on the inside than it appears on the out. Great friendly service. Large portions. Pretty good food. Sort of Greek, sort of southern, sort of a diner only without breakfasts or pies on display. Well priced. Everybody liked everything. Only the fried fish got a grade below a solid B. Good Basic Comfort Food Not fancy but a good ole fashioned Southern Diner where everyone if friendly, everyone is "hon or sweetie", tea is sweet unless ordered otherwise and the food is both good and plentiful. My wife and I along with three friends had breakfast last Saturday. My wife was disappointed because she does not like breakfast and prefers lunch while I am the other way around. In any case, nice clean restaurant in the heart of what could be called the old business district of Denver NC. Most of the people are local and regulars and they know a good thing when they see it which is why the keep coming back. I had the two pork chops with eggs over well with hash browns. Pork Chops were great and not overcooked but nice and moist, eggs were still runny but hash browns were great. The mother from Ohio enjoyed here French Toast while two others including my wife, liked their BLT's. We go for breakfast which is delicious. The biscuits are delicious, nice size portions, and omelettes are big and fluffy. Brett is usually our server. He's been there for years and is a favorite of the regulars. He remembers our drinks and delivers them as soon as we sit down. Wonderful family owned restaurant. I have been by this place 100 times and never stopped. I dropped in for lunch and was surprised that the place was full. Interesting place, kind of old school with lots of locals. Service was excellent. I went with some fried chicken liver and mashed potatoes. It was pretty decent. No complaints with anything. Southern style fried okra hit the spot. Stacey's is a great little Greek-American restaurant. They offer breakfast, lunch and dinners some nights. My favorites are the specials, that are served with soup and cornbread. I also love the Greek salads. The meat and 2 veggie sides are the real draw here. Home cooked sides that are simple and hearty. Sweet Tea is delicious and they usually have a few homemade desserts, too. Our service has always been great, it's a hometown restaurant. Thirteen days ago we ate here with no problem. I must admit, the food is marginal, but we have few local restaurants. Last night we were accosted at the door by what looked to be a young boy, ostensibly to seat us. He asked if we had masks. We said no, so he offered to SELL us one, 50 cents each. The table we would be seated at was literally two steps away, where we would have removed said masks. I offered to pull my shirt over my nose for those two steps. It's made of the exact material as the mask worn by the accosting youth. He said we must have a mask. We left. I did inform the owner, who stood three feet away, that we would never be back. We have been to this restaurant for more than 25 years. My family is out. read more

Mondays is chicken and dumplings. Thats the only days we come here since we found out. The service is food and the location. All in all its a greasy spood diner with standard greasy spoon menu. First there's my pet peeve - there's NO butter in the diner - at all. so no grits n butter for me. The sausage and bacon not really that good. Coffee? wow, maybe if they used the whole bag for the pot it would have been coffee. I got tinted water. OK, let's leave on a good note: the home fries were good and the eggs were good. Very disappointed. We eat here once a week. The female owner was nasty when we were waiting to be seated. "If you don't sign in you won't be seated." We were only ones waiting, I counted 9 empty tables. Hostess seats is 15 minutes later. One waitress yelled at us and hostess "don't seat anyone for me to waiting." Our waitress who waits on us every Friday night said " please seat them I have it." I counted 6 more tables empty in the back. Hostess seated us and did not leave menus. The only apology came from our waitress. Vegetable plate was fine not exceptional. Honestly when I am paying to eat out I really do not want rude staff and owner. So goodbye to this place. The quality of the food in this restaurant has deteriorated in the past 3 years. 6 of us came for dinner recently and only 3 were happy with their food. 3 people ordered the prime rib special ($14.95), all ordered medium rare. 2 were cooked correctly, 1 was well done. It took 3 times of sending the well done meat back before they agreed to cut a new piece! The last 3 times I ordered the chicken parmesan it was so overcooked that it wasn't edible. Stacy's is the epitome of what a great family restaurant should be. I can't say that I have any favorites, for I've enjoyed everything that I've tried thus far. Prices are reasonable, and the comfort food they serve up is tasty and fresh. Service is attentive, without being overbearing. Stacy's is one of the few places where I'll save room for dessert: their peach cobbler is among the best I've had - topped off with a scoop of vanilla Deluxe Ice Cream :). My wife and I had breakfast here Saturday 2/8/14 and we were shocked. After many a good breakfast here, this place has done a 180 down hill. The second our server walked up I knew what we were in for, as she had the personality of a cactus. My wife order scrambled eggs hash browns and toast. I ordered over medium eggs, hash browns and a gravy biscuit. The food was brought out at room temp. not even warm. My eggs were scrambled and my wife had no toast. We would have sent it back had our server ever shown up again but she did not, my wife never got her toast nor did we ever get our coffee refilled. When we asked for the check the server knew we were not happy campers, but instead of trying to make things right, she just threw our check on the table and walked away. No "How was everything?", No "Have a good day", NOTHING, just threw the check on the table and walked away. When we went to pay my wife said let me handle this as she is more tactful and less profane than I am in situation like this. She told the cashier what had happened and she apologized and said the meal was on the house, like I would have paid for it any way since we left over half of it on our plates. I don't know what happened but no more Stacy's for us. I refuse to pay for bad food and lousy service. read more
