I'm not sure how I've been here for seven months now living this close to this place and haven't tried it before now. Really disappointing actually as this place is excellent! I had the Philly cheesesteak and the wife had the gyro and both were very very good. The french fries were awesome! It definitely seems like the owners of this place are probably from somewhere up in the northeast as their menu offers pretty much anything you could want from American to Greek to breakfast/brunch etc. This is definitely going on our list of go to restaurants!

2 Egg Breakfast with SIDE of Tomato (2.99$ extra for tomato)
Malinda S.

The food was good, service good, menu not as clear as it should be. 2 egg special with home fries or grits, toast or biscuit, tomato for 7.99 but the tomato is 2.99 (too much for 4 medium slices) My husband got the french toast with 2 eggs and bacon. It was good. Also there is a 3.95$ charge if you use a credit card but there is a note on the door clearly stating this. So if you add drinks and a generous tip Breakfast for 2 will run about $25-30.

Croissant French toast special

Awesome little spot hidden away in Mooresville! All the food was great and French toast special didn't disappoint, the food came out fast and hot without issue. The staff was sweet as well, they checked on us plenty and made sure we had everything from the second we walked in till we walked out. I really enjoyed that they offered to fill drinks and add a lid to go after we had finished eating. It's a small thing but gave a nice final Interaction.

links, eggs, cheese on a muffin... yea!

power went out at the house so I went out too. pulled up here about 8:00 and a car hop came over to explain my options. after going over the various permutations (several types of breads, a host of proteins, some dairy, and few styles of potatoes) I went with the sausage links, egg, and cheese on a muffin (wanted banana nut, settled for english.) quite please with how it came out, tasted as good as it photographed. yea for hot food and more coffee! liked PicNik's more better before the plague but still like it well enough now. PicNik's is a staple of the local dining scene with diners coming and going throughout the day but really big on breakfast. it's a local joint with hi-cal options plus carry out and curb service which is especially useful now.

Texas Burger with Potato Salad

Service has tanked since I was here a year and half ago. I've dined here several times over the years, the most recent was in March 2016. At that time, food was great and service was excellent. Don't know what happened but service has gone way downhill and the great potato salad now only the overpowering taste of mustard as opposed to just and accent. Went for lunch today and got a booth right in front of the counter and in a direct line between the cash register and the main dining room. Heavy server traffic but I felt like I was invisible. After sitting there for 5 - 7 minutes, one of the servers did stop and drop off a menu as asked what I wanted to drink. Got my tea quick but before I could order, she was gone and did not appear for another 10 minutes. Ordered a Texas Burger which is a regular Burger served on Grilled Texas Toast with grilled onions. As a side, I had the potato salad I enjoyed last year. The Texas Burger is outstanding. One of the most flavorful Burgers I have had. The Potato Salad I enjoyed a year ago was barely edible and if fact I did not take more than two or three bites of it. A little mustard in potato salad as an accent is good but when that is all you can taste, not a pleasant experience. Should have suspected something when the potato salad was served and it was almost a fluorescent yellow. At the end, the server did ask if I wanted a tea to go which I took her up on it. Not as good as it used to be.

I had the Wed special turkey with stuffing and cranberry . It was fresh and I enjoyed it but the side of fried zucchini with ranch dressing was the star. I started with the orzo tomato spinach soup with feta ($3.99). I wasn't sure what to expect as I get a pasta salad done similarly but I can tell you that I was highly impressed with the tomato based broth, the depth of the broth, creamy consistency of the orzo and pieces of fresh spinach. A side of crumbled feta accompanied it to toss in - and it definitely added to the flavors!!! I originally came here for the fried catfish - and it did not disappoint! Two pieces of fish, two sides (collards and broccoli cheese) and hushpuppies was $16.99. I had originally gotten the squash but I'm not a fan of breaded and fried. My server was gracious and let me swap it out. My service was quick, my server was the absolute sweetest and I'm already trying to figure out my next visit!

From a former fan of the Happy Egg until they implemented a so-called credit card fee (something…read morethey had not done last year) after introducing their new menus early in 2026. In speaking with others in the restaurant business, they say included in the menu price is not only their food costs, but also all their overhead costs - including credit card processing fees - so begs the questions, why do some places add a fee for using a credit card? So I did a bit of research, and here is what I found: NC is moving toward tighter regulations A 2025 bill (House Bill 13) proposes: * A 2% cap on surcharges * Mandatory disclosure at the entrance and point of sale * A ban on surcharges if the business only accepts credit cards It hasn't fully passed yet, but it has momentum. If it becomes law, it will standardize what restaurants can charge and how they must disclose it. Check whether the fee applies to all cards If the restaurant charges the same fee for: * debit cards NOTE: Happy Egg, my server told me, charges 4% to use a Debit Card * credit cards * even prepaid cards ...that's a red flag. Why: Debit card processing is much cheaper. Charging the same fee across the board suggests the fee isn't tied to actual processing costs -- it's just extra revenue layered on top of already‑priced‑in costs. Look for "cash discount" language If the receipt says: * "Non‑cash adjustment" (Happy Egg charges 4% to use a credit card) * "Cash discount applied" ...but the menu prices are already high, it often means: * the "cash discount" is just the real price, * and the card price is inflated on top of it. This is one of the most common double‑dip setups. How to spot when a 6. Watch for restaurants that only recently added a fee If you've been going to a place for years and suddenly see: * a new 3-4% fee * with no change in menu prices ...it's very likely they simply added the fee without adjusting their pricing structure. The simplest rule of thumb If a restaurant: * never lowered menu prices, * adds a credit‑card fee, * and charges the same fee for all cards, you're almost certainly seeing double dipping. restaurant is double dipping

We ended up ordering 2 fountain drinks, the spinach crab fondue, the seared scallop appetizer, farmers cobb salad, a caprese avocado panini with onion straws and a side of fries, french onion soup, and the espresso creme brulee. First and foremost, the food came out insanely fast. The seared scallops with creamed corn and pesto was fresh and delightful with a great sear. I do wish they were a bit bigger for the price, but it was a nice starter. The spinach crab fondue was so nice and hot when it came out that it was still bubbling. Strong crab flavor, a good portion size and plenty of fresh chips. The farmers Cobb salad had lots of seasoned fried chicken in it, the greens were fresh and the blue cheese dressing was nice and creamy. It even came with a fresh dinner roll. We advised the server we were going to split the panini and she was nice enough to plate them separately putting the onion straws on one and fries on the other. It wasn't so much a panini as it was just a ciabatta sandwich. The bottom bun was soggy as was the bacon but it was still very cheesy and tasty. The fries were hot and fresh and the onion straws weren't greasy and had a nice crunch. The French onion soup was hot and cheesy and was a nice portion. Could have had a bit more onion, but it hit the spot for the price. The espresso creme brulee was very very delicious. Not too sweet, had a great texture and came with a fresh strawberry, however the top could've been a bit hotter. A great way to end the meal. Overall, the meal was $99, which I think is very reasonable. Food came out quickly, tasted hot and fresh and thats exactly what you'd want on a cold day. Will definitely be back to try other menu options.
