I've always loved this place. We have a lot of good memories with good family, friends and the food is always enough for 2 meals! I love eating their breakfast , especially the Haystack! I also love to buy their whole cakes and pies for family or church get together's that we go to and have no time to cook! I cheat and put it in my own carry from home & " voila " fresh home made delicious dessert! LOL We also love their manhattans, stir-fry, and lasagna. First of all no complaints of the waitress/ trainee. Very attentive with service. I got all can eat catfish. Fish was great! Soup good, The broccoli was nothing more than the stalks maybe most of three small pieces of actual broccoli. I sent it back for very undercooked. They came back by only putting them on a grill burnt and, still not tender. The fries was greasy, limp. Like no oil change has been done. The restaurant was very very few people in eating. Today was my first time at The Forum. There were pros and cons. Pros: -The tenderloin was pretty good. -Good prices. The kids meal is $3.99 and the tenderloin & fries was $8.00. Cons: -Fries were soggy and not good. My son wouldn't eat them. -It took a long time to have our order taken, but it was super busy for a Wednesday. We also were not checked on throughout our meal. I don't know if it's usually that busy during lunch, but everyone just seemed super stressed and some of the customers were pretty rude so I know that didn't help. I wouldn't even give the Forum 1 star. Bill Veselji, you need to teach some of your waitresses some d*mn etiquette. These waitresses were rude by calling strangers that eat there, honey, sweatheart, Sweatie and a few inappropriate names. This waitress that waited on my today was giving me a hard time because I didn't want a bun on my hamburger or fries acting like diabetes didn't even exist. And then she started calling a woman that I was with honey and wouldn't stop out of spite because I was wearing a shirt about this behavior today since I've had so many problems with being called honey, sweatheart, sugar, etc. As an Autistic person I find these words of endearment, condescending and demeaning because they have been used against me in the past. This behavior has gotten so bad with these ignorant waitresses and others in the workplace that there is counselors to help stop this behavior. Catching up with friends from out of town, met @Forum for breakfast. The food was delicious and the service was perfect. Our waitress refilled our coffees multiple times, even as we sat and chatted after eating. My omelet was the best I've had in a long time, my friends enjoyed the Monte Cristo sandwich and the Chef's breakfast. We will definitely come back for lunch sometime. read more

Perfect. Me and mom dropped in to get a bite to eat, and wow, we were impressed! I got pork chops and mom got a salad + ??? (We forgot) and it was amazing! The food came out in less than five minutes after ordering. The waiter came immediately to take our order. We're used to waiting 20 minutes+ to get our order taken, sometimes even more, and it's perfect that they come immediately to take the order, drinks and food all at once. (The drinks do come out before food but they take the order at once.) The food overall was perfect and we loved it. Kid friendly too! Definitely would come back!!! read more

I'm not usually one to write a bad review for any place, especially a restaurant, but I need to warn others. The quality of food served was the lowest quality possible. Broccoli without florets, Mac n cheese literally flavorless, steak 1/3 fat. I'm talking, like, worse than great value brand food. I don't know where you buy food that low in quality. And the prices were quite high. Not quite steak house high, but high enough to where you'd expect some good food to be delivered. We ate 2 dinners and the sample platter appetizer. One water and one pop, well over $60 without tip. That's pricy in my opinion. Could have eaten at Applebees for half that price and had a tasty meal. I was going to get a slice of pie and ice cream, but after the meal, I didn't want anything else from this place. On our way out I had a look at the pie they were serving and it looked old. Great place to eat!! I first visited with a friend one evening when our basketball team was playing at the college nearby. The restaurant is a part of yesteryear. You feel like you've come home the minute you walk in the door. It's old fashioned, small town, mom and pop atmosphere welcomed me warmly. I was quite pleased when I discovered I could order real fried potatoes. Not those chunks that are heated in a microwave. These are sliced, have a little onion added, and fried right on the grill. I liked my meal so well I chose The Forum for my birthday meal. And yes, I had fried potatoes again. The menu is varied, the food well prepared and pleasing to the eye, and the prices are comfortable on your wallet. I advise you to go when you're in the area. The Forum in two words: It's fine. It's very similar to a Perkins' - the food, the atmosphere, the staff, the crowd on a Sunday morning. This is apparently the only choice you have for breakfast in Crawfordsville at that time. I'm not complaining, but you'd think a college town would take advantage of the fact that there are hundreds of hung-over students who need someplace to soak up all the alcohol after a Saturday night of partying. Still, you get seated fairly quickly, even if there is absolutely no place to stand without being in someone's way while you're waiting for a table. I've only been here for breakfast, but I left full both times, if not completely impressed. This particular time, I got the 2 x 2 x 2 Breakfast (two pancakes or French Toast, two eggs and two pieces of bacon or sausage) and asked for cheese scrambled into my eggs. I was figuring that they'd come out with shredded cheddar cooked into them... instead I got scrambled eggs with two pieces of barely-melted American cheese slapped on top. Kind of weird. But the orange juice is pulpy (my favorite), the American skillet was chock-full of sausage and ham, and our waitress was efficient and punctuated every sentence with "honey." The Forum is a regular end-of-the-week breakfast spot for my coworkers and I. I've eaten there more times than I can count, and I rarely stray from the handful of meals I choose from. Their menu is pretty expansive, but I stick to what I know is good. Breakfast is available anytime of day, and many lunch items are available in the morning hours. I'll get the one big "con" out of the way first. The waitstaff is VERY uneven when it comes to attitude and service quality. Once you get to know the waitresses, you can deal with them accordingly. But tread lightly until you get a feel for them ;) There's one waitress in particular that's a tough cookie, to put it lightly. It seems as if you get the best treatment if you're elderly, or work in law enforcement. It's not really a huge problem, though. The food is cooked to order, and usually comes out fresh and at the correct temperature. If you arrive right at opening in the mornings, sometimes the cook is running a little late and you may have to wait a few minutes longer than usual for your food. This has happened to me a few times. Don't expect a speedy in-and-out at The Forum, especially when the house is packed. The Forum regularly has a dessert display case full of various cakes and pies, many of which are pretty decent. If you're in the mood for breakfast, definitely check out their skillet breakfasts. The Melting Pot skillet is amazing, and the Haystack is pretty decent as well. Their sausage gravy is hit-and-miss, but it's great when it's done right. Stay away from the omelets, unless you like your omelets browned and crispy on the outside. They'll cook you a pretty decent diner-quality steak if that's what you're in the mood for, and the Forum Burger is quite good. The bathrooms are pretty dingy, so take care of that business at home if possible. It's not disgusting or anything, just a little on the dirty side. Decor leaves something to be desired, in my opinion. It's fairly dark and drab inside, with tacky glass chandelier-ish lamps above the tables. But hey, it's a diner! It's kinda charming I guess, in a ho-hum kind of way. The food is usually good enough to make up for the spotty service. If you're in the mood for some good diner grub in a rather gloomily lit atmosphere, The Forum is a good spot to check out. read more

For a long time I really didn't like this place but it has grown on me. I think their lunch and dinner food is better than their breakfast. I have got a few things on the breakfast menu I really didn't like such as one of their skillet breakfasts. Went to The Forum Family Restaurant tonight and it seemed that no one wanted to be our waitress. After a very short time got our drinks and food and everything was fine. As I was paying the bill two waitresses seemed to be arguing just feet away from where I was paying my bill. As I finished up my two sons (9 &11) were coming out of the restroom and ran smack into these employees arguing. They were just outside the restroom and the younger waitress shoved the other waitress into a trash can and the wall, and told her to get the F@ck out of her way! As I mentioned this was right in front of my young boys. I took my kids to the car and stepped back into the restaurant to ask for a manager. The waitress that got shoved advised me there was not a manager onsite. I asked for a refund due to the fact that my two young boys that were basically right in the middle of this were very upset. I was told since I had already paid I could not get my money back. They had the nerve to offer me desert. Real nice "Family Restaurant"!!!! read more

However, I have visited several times over the years and let me tell you about some of them: *when I was pregnant, back in '12, I got off work and went there for breakfast and got to the bottom of my tea and my straw suddenly got clogged. Looked in my cup. A piece of food stained straw wrapper. Manager did not care. I went into the bathroom and puked. Thanks. *don't think I've ever received clean silverware on my initial sit down. *I started just ordering my salad and Manhattan to go, until I got a raw Manhattan. Yeah. This place is awful! My husband and I went here one weekend day for breakfast, and I ordered pancakes and bacon for breakfast. I still haven't figured out how they solidified dirty dishwater, but that is what the "pancakes" on my plate tasted like. After three bites I couldn't eat any more.
