Tastiest burger ever!!!
Frank R.

Visited Rockville, Indiana for the Covered Bridge Festival. Stopped in at packed Thirty-Six Saloon. Figured we would order something simple like a burger and a beer pretzel as an app. I was totally impressed with the warm and soft salted 8" long pretzels. We were totally surprised with the cheeseburger, which I thought would be a safe bet. Wow, was I ever wrong! There was nothing safe or plain about their cheeseburger. It was honestly the best we ever had! Kudos to the grill team. I would travel back just for another burger!

We came for the Covered Bridge Festival. The service was fast but the food was not good, and they didn't have glassware for us to pour a bottled beer into.

Wife and I are the only customers on the patio. Was told only a limited menu of a few deli type sandwiches and no other food or sides will be cooked until after 3pm. And prior to ordering, was told it might be a few since their was a pizza to cook in front of us. So right now, it's been almost 1 hour, and sill waiting on 2 turkey deli sandwiches to be made. OMG. I guess they need a second cook already! But really at this point... We have no plans to come back here again.

We got a dozen wings, Mac n cheese, coleslaw and fries. The wings we got buffalo and let me tell you they were huge! They had great flavor, I just wish there was more sauce. They also don't give you ranch with them. The coleslaw was not my style at all it's like they are trying to make it spicy or something. We will skip that next time. Mac n cheese was really good. It had the perfect amount of cheese and creaminess just needed a little pepper. The fries were good. I'm just mad we got them to go because fries are never good once you get home because they get soggy. He gave us 2 dips, I'm not sure what they were for but the both tasted really good. One was an aioli and the other was green in color. We ate them with our fries.

Sure people looked at us, but it felt like a lot of them were regulars since the servers knew some by name. Our server was wonderful and patient, she gave suggestions of what she liked and helped us decide. The portions were larger than I expected for the price. Loved the onion rings. They looked hand breaded and were crisp and hot when they came to the table. If we are in the area again I will be back to try other items on the menu.

Know that I am a city boy and this is in rural Indiana. Two thousand people live in Cloverdale. We stopped on our way to a sprint car race not far from here. There are just not many dining options. While I do not think usual clientele or others would be put off, there were some signs outside that warned you of their conservative political beliefs, warning you to not enter if this offends you. I did not. I went in and did not feel uncomfortable my the hospitality. Ambiance is basic. There is nothing fancy, but then again, it was just fine. I may seem prejudiced, but this comment is sincere and meant to be purely complimentary. My friend, from rural Indiana agreed. "This place brought to mind that it is where you go after the hay is stacked, the cows are in the barn, you are hungry and can get your fill of good food, cheap." The daily specials posted suggested I come back. Service bringing our order was slow, but our server apologized and explained a kitchen issue. No worries. We both ordered the quintessential Indiana sandwich - Pork Tenderloin. I got the grilled and he got the fried. Never in my life have I seen a meal called a "sandwich" that looked like this. The tenderloin was as big as a dinner plate. The bun looked a decoration more than the basis for a sandwich. The meat was easily twice or three times the diameter of the ornamental bun. Neither of us could even eat half. Deferring to my Hoosier native, he declared this one of the best tenderloins he ever had. Unfortunately, my grilled version was a bit dry. We have made tenderloins at home in TN. I cannot for the life of me figure out how they pounded that cut of meat into the shape they served.
