Green Eggs & Ham w/ house potatoes and sourdough toast
    Reyna R.

You can tell this is a local favorite, though it was not my favorite. The vibes inside kind of made me feel like I was in New Orleans. I got the green eggs and ham with the house potatoes and sourdough toast. The ham and potatoes were great, but the texture of the eggs threw off the rest of the meal. I did think it was cool how they always have different flavors for their jam, daily muffin, and entree specials. We got there around 1 pm on a Friday and had to wait about 10-15 minutes for a table for four.

The food was excellent, but the service was disappointing. I had to request lemons multiple times, and our waitress seemed bothered whenever we asked for assistance. Additionally, there's only paid parking available, which costs $1.00, and the restaurant itself is quite small. Not sure if I'll be bk

One of my most favorite places!!!! I've been going here over 15 years and every time ITS DELICIOUS. Coffee, drink, food all delish. They have a fill bar, staff is always nice. You may have to wait 10-15 minutes sometimes but cool people are always there so it's now awful. The BLAT+C is my go to...and where is has different homemade jams each time you go?!? Nobody, that's who. Which is why this is my forever fave.

We parked in the (not free) lot in the back and entered the restaurant through the back. You can put your name on the waitlist that's hanging on the wall. We didn't have to wait long. It's kind of loud inside and they leave the front and back doors open so it's not that cool inside. We ordered the paddy wagon and forager rumble. Both came with potatoes. The rumble also came with toast of your choice. The food didn't take long. Both meals were tasty. Portions are fair.

Huevos Rancheros.... I would add Chorizo if I ever get this again.

The service was excellent!! My hunni got steak and eggs. He asked for medium, with sunny side up.... U tell me what you see in the pick. I asked for a veggie Mexican breakfast dish. We also had crab cakes thingys that were super tasty. The drinks were good! The service was excellent!!

Homemade hot sauces, homemade piña colada jam and the Veggie Rumble with tofu

Food was absolutely delicious, service was excellent and the vibe was cozy and funky. A good mix of veggie and meaty options on the menu. The specials on the board looked interesting but I didn't notice them until after I ordered, so I'll have to go back and hope they have them again. The homemade hot sauces and piña colada jam were absolutely scrumptious.

MUST VISIT!! Traveled to Detroit for college football game. I always look up DDD locations Guy has been to. This spot didn't disappoint. We were seated quickly on a mid Saturday morning. Line built up while we were eating. Inside is amazing! Love the unique touches around the location. All the wait staff were nice. Our waitress gave great recommendations. My son ordered the biscuits and gravy special. Note they only serve on weekends. ordered the forager scramble. Both were A plus. Make sure you get the homemade jam for your toast. If you order the mini muffins get more than one. They are light and delicious.

Been wanting to try The Fly Trap for a long time but never get to Ferndale during the day. Until today. We got there around 12:30 and the place was hopping. Had the feeling most were regulars. I ordered the omelet with sour dough toast and my wife ordered the granola/yogurt with a bunch of other ingredients. My omelet was cooked perfectly and potatoes were delicious and piping hot as they should be. Toast often seems to arrive cold at restaurants but not here! Oh, and that house made apple/mango jam was the bomb. My wife is still taking about her lunch and can't wait to go back. Our waitress was super friendly and provided excellent service. Never had to ask for a coffee refill....she was right on it. Everything at surrounding tables looked great. Will try the breakfast burrito next visit. This place is really solid.

Still a staple in my eating out rotation, but now their coffee comes from sabbath in clawson! Restrooms are gender neutral. Tends to get pretty busy during peak hours. Love me some flytrap.

Love this cute diner! It's a great place to catch up with friends for delicious food and coffee! Easy parking in the back, it's very clean and bonus points for ska punk playing! Service and getting the bill was a lil slow but the food was worth it.

Half eaten Forager... Sorry forgot til the end Egg-cellent!

I finally got to try Toast in Ferndale for brunch!…read more The parking situation is a small lot behind the back and finding a spot on a weekend morning wasn't easy! We didn't have reservations so we did have to wait a while for a table. But, Toast made it manageable with an outdoor waiting area where you can order drinks from the bar. By the way, the outdoor area is not fully insulated, just sectioned off with clear tarp, so it can still feel a little chilly. However, it was nice having somewhere sit and mingle instead of just standing around by the door. Now to the good part: My table ordered the trashy hashy, toast egg sammy, and a muddled strawberry vanilla iced matcha. I started off with the iced matcha and ended with the egg sammy with a side of parmesan grits. The matcha was a little watery but good. The sandwich was super flavorful but very messy. I had to ask for extra napkins after but the mess was totally worth the flavor! I can't wait to come back! I'll be prepared with reservations next time!

She responded that she already had, but I pointed out that there were still crumbs there. She seemed irritated, so I even offered to wipe it myself if she gave me the towel. She then asked me to show her where the crumbs were and wiped them off. Unfortunately, her attitude throughout the interaction was very rude and unprofessional. My sister then asked to speak with a manager. When the manager came over, the other ladies in our group also mentioned the waitress's attitude. Instead of addressing our concerns professionally, the general manager became defensive and stated that the waitress did not have a nasty attitude. He then told us that if we wanted to leave, we could leave because he was not going to be bothered with us. He took our menus and asked us to leave simply because we requested that the table be cleaned properly. I would love to see better service and customers treated with respect! Ms Cheryl W.

I used to live nearby about 25 years ago and remember coming to a diner in this area for breakfast back then. Fast forward to today--this isn't the same place, but wow, it's absolutely amazing. Right away I loved the vibe. The chalkboards with handwritten menu items and daily specials on the walls give the place so much character and charm. It feels welcoming, classic, and cool all at the same time. The customer service was excellent from start to finish--friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. I ordered the country breakfast, which came with biscuits and gravy, eggs, toast, potatoes, and sausage--everything was spot on. I'm usually not a big hash browns person, so I really appreciated that they offer an alternative to the shredded style. I went with the cubed breakfast potatoes (not sure what they officially call them), and they were so much better--crispy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Between the food, the service, and the overall atmosphere, this place completely won me over. I already know I'll be back next weekend. In fact, several of my friends traveled to the area specifically to visit Public House. Sadly, the menu has changed and there are no only three items on the menu for Vegans. The items are the Strawberry Shortcake, which was a prior favorite, but has been reduced in its appeal by the omission of the vegan cream that topped it off and the other items are a Burrito Bowl, which is available anywhere you go through the addition and deduction of conventional food items, and the Chik n waffle. This reduced menu of three items compared to the 24 + conventional items on the menu is extremely disappointing. Service wise the greeting at the front door was very slow when there was only one other patron in front of us. It literally took 10 minutes to be greeted and the restaurant was not full compared to its previous more appealing times for Vegans where you really did have to wait. The staff was over all very friendly and accommodating. You couldn't ask for a nice group of people. And the diversity of the team is amazing....it is noticed and valued! The strawberry shortcake without the whip cream is good but the vegan whipped cream makes a difference and was notably missing. The Bloody Mary was pretty good. Overall...it's a ok place for Vegans but no longer a great place us.

No rushing, great recommendations, and zero feeling like you're "that couple" taking up bar space. Drinks and beer selection were solid, but let's talk food because ambiance and service are only half the equation. We started with the coney dog egg rolls and... wow. Epic. Unique. But the star of the show? The short rib sandwich. Holy shit. I don't normally eat onions or horseradish, but somehow this sandwich converted me. The caramelized onions weren't overpowering, the sauce wasn't spicy, and everything just worked. We literally woke up the next morning talking about how we need it again.
